AFFILIATION: Although Sarah has no desire to personally involve herself with Voldemort's cause, she's far from being an advocate for the Muggleborns. As a Pureblood with a fairly impressive lineage, Sarah certainly does believe in the idea of Muggleborn inferiority - Purebloods are simply better in her eyes, whether it be in the context of intelligence, appearance, or simply evolution. However, while Sarah certainly isn't indifferent about the conflict at hand, she doesn't really see the point in putting herself at the front and center of Voldemort's band of Death Eaters - after all, Sarah is an ambitious soul, and getting locked up in Azkaban for five to ten simply doesn't fit in with her future plans.

OPTIONAL HISTORY: Sarah was born to two parents who consummated their ~love~ nine months before Christmas. She ate lots of cake, read lots of books, and dressed like a ho until the ripe old age of eleven, when she was given a place at the 1337 Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Upon arriving there, she once again ate lots of cake, read lots of books, and dressed like a ho, but a ho with class and the body to pull it off.

PERSONALITY: It is a common fact that Ravenclaws are known for their wit and cleverness; thus, it's not at all surprising that this is the very house Sarah Gibbon was placed in that fateful day in her first year. Nevertheless, having been born in a household known for eternally being placed in Slytherin (the Wilkes and the Gibbons were, after all, prominent Pureblood families of the time), Sarah's Sorting was an incident that surprised both of her parents, Lola and Antonius. Although they didn't express open disapproval, Sarah noticed their lack of enthusiasm from the congratulatory letter they sent her within her first week, and decided that her first goal would be to be the best Ravenclaw to ever Ravenclaw their way through Hogwarts. Always ready with a quip, and able to hold her own in any conversation, Sarah certainly has the makings of an excellent debater, and has been able to hold her own in Ravenclaw house. She's an intelligent girl, quick-witted, and this is a fact that becomes apparent a mere two seconds into any conversation you may engage her in.
A Ravenclaw with ambition, Sarah is exceedingly dedicated to her studies - she wants to be the best, and she puts in a great deal of effort to be able to attain this dream. Although she may indeed come from a traditional Pureblood family, Sarah refuses to resign herself to the role of a perfect, prim and proper housewife. An observant girl, Sarah has noticed that her mother isn't entirely content playing the part of a Pureblood wife, and one of her primary goals is simply to not end up as unhappy as Lola Gibbon so clearly is. Sarah wants to have a career, to be able to make a name for herself in her own right, and thus, she can often be found pouring over texts in the library. She's aspiring to become a Healer and, knowing that this sort of goal is one that takes a great deal of work and effort to achieve, her years at Hogwarts have been primarily focused on her education, and Sarah's social life has assuredly taken a backseat.
Although she does seem to be a fairly personable person at first glance, considering her friendly, open face and wide-eyed looks, Sarah is remarkably selective about who she deems worthy of her company. While she's certainly amiable to everyone around her, she doesn't actively engage a person i conversation unless she believes them to be both intelligent and capable of witty repartee. Sarah doesn't get along well with most other girls, simply because she finds them to either a) be a threat to her own aspirations, or b) too catty, too whiny, or simply too intolerable for her to waste her precious time. However, perhaps due to her close relationship with her father, Sarah is far more at ease around the male species - they aren't as ridiculously hormonal, after all. Similarly, although she'll act perfectly friendly face-to-face with someone who isn't of pure blood, it's the sort of friendly that comes off as slightly fake. She does, after all, consider Muggleborns to be inferior to her own sort, and thus doesn't make it a point to seek them out for conversation or company.
Ironically, in what may seem a rather paradoxical turn, Sarah often feels personally responsible for any devastating event or experience a person close to her may be going to. She acts the part of the martyr, worrying that it is her own fault that such-and-such happened, and doing her best to alleviate the pain, grief, or any other negative emotion the person in question may be experiencing. Thus, she's a caring person, but caring in a selective way - she cares for those she likes, and is fairly indifferent regarding those she doesn't.
While Sarah may come off as a confident, self-assured person - and she is, in some aspects - there are a great deal of things she does feel insecure about. Although she knows that she's intelligent, a part of her struggles with the validity of this fact; this is primarily due to the fact that while Sarah is smart, it often takes her a while to comprehend the course material - she's the sort of person that needs to study to do well, to read chapters in her textbooks repeatedly before she can fully grasp the lesson at hand, and thus, she often wonders whether her booksmarts are as valid as her peers' seemingly natural smarts. Thus, although she strives to hide this, she is indeed a bit envious of students who don't have to work hard to do well; while Sarah has managed to stay at the top of her class, she wishes that it were simpler for her to do so.
Although Sarah may have more than few Slytherin qualities, it is the simple fact that she enjoys learning, that she sometimes studies simply for the sake of studying, that she's more a Ravenclaw than anything else. She has ambition, yes, but Sarah enjoys acquiring knowledge more than attaining her goals; after all, if you've achieved something without learning a lesson or two along the way, there's barely a victory to be had.

Ridiculous. I do believe it's a major breach of etiquette to barge into one's house without any forewarning at all - and no, ringing the doorbell certainly doesn't count as forewarning - and then proceed to butter up one's mother with sickeningly sweet compliments that makes even Cupid's soppy poetry seem as eloquent as Shakespeare. I'm NOT impressed, not impressed in the least, and next time you attempt to step foot in my house, Gregory Greengrass, you had better have a more appropriate excuse than, what was it? Oh, having to scour my bedroom to confirm whether or not I own black lingerie.
In other news, I'm quite looking forward to the start of the school year - if my mother asks me why I don't know how to sip tea properly one more time, someone may very well end up dead. |
