CHARACTER INFO: RON WEASLEY.

OOC.

Name: JJ
Age: 20
Contact: faeriexlights on AIM
Experience: All previous experience can be found here.

IC.

BASICS

Full Name: Ronald Bilius Weasley.
Nickname: Ron. Never Ronald, thanks.
Date of Birth: March 1, 1980.
Year: 6th.
Social Status: The Weasleys are infamous for being an old aristocratic family with no money to back up this claim - while the Weasleys were once known for their impressive lineage, which can be traced back to Britain's origins, they've since lost much of their illustrious wealth and elite status in Britain's society. Due to their pitiable financial situation, the Weasleys are often scorned by many of the upper crust - after all, no one wants to associate with a family that doesn't even have a proper manor to call their own. However, many of the aristocratic families, namely the Malfoys, have another reason to dislike the Weasleys: the family is known for its outspokenness against the evils of the Riddle Corporation. The Weasleys do, in fact, fervently oppose the company and all its ventures, and rarely hesitate to proclaim their dislike to the rest of the world.

DETAILS

Appearance: Ron has always been tall and gangly for his age; now, even though his growth spurts have stopped, he stands quite a few inches above the rest of his class (he is 6 feet 4 inches, to be exact). Playing the position of Keeper on his House team for the past year has toned his arm muscles, although he isn't nearly as muscular in other areas. His feet are somewhat large, even for his size, making him look rather awkward at times, and are especially detrimental to his attempts at dancing.

Ron has the signature Weasley-red hair which he chooses to wear slightly long, much to his mother's consternation. It lies just below his ears, and Ron can often be seen shaking his head to get troublesome stray strands away from his face. While Ron certainly has an abundance of freckles, his skin is not overtly light, and instead has a nice overall tan. His eyes are a bright blue in color, another characteristic he has inherited from his mother. While Ron is not conventially attractive, his shy smile and bright eyes can often soften a girl's heart.

Personality: Much of Ron's personality, his morals and values, stem directly from the strong influence his family has had in his life. Truly, the Weasleys are a close-knit, caring group, and it is this very fact that has allowed Ron to grow up with a solid belief system: when he knows he's right, he won't hesitate to let everyone else know, as well - after all, Ron is an out-and-out Gryffindor: he will infallibly stand up for what he believes in, and stand against those who prove to be an obstacle. Ron is, intrinsically, a fighter - to him, fists speak a great deal louder than words, and have a much more desirable, satisfying effect. Yes, Ron has that cliche redheaded temper, but since all stereotypes stem from the truth, this isn't altogether surprising. He often acts before he thinks, jumping to improbable and often illogical conclusions before examining the facts - why should he bother to, anyway? Hermione's much better at that sort of thing.

While Ron's blustering, awkward personality often gives off the impression that he is unintelligent, this isn't necessarily true: no, he's not booksmart in the same manner that Hermione is, or as streetsmart as Harry seems to be, but Ron isn't entirely incompetent. For example, Ron is more than just a fair hand at chess - although the rules of the game seems to entirely contradict his spontaneous personality, he is still undoubtedly a great player. It is ironic, yes, that he has a knack for a game in which the ability to foresee future moves, to think before one acts, is a necessity, but his talent is still there, and it is a talent that says a great deal about Ron, his personality, and his way of thinking.

In accordance with his inherent Gryffindor-ness, Ron is fiercely loyal towards those who have earned it, namely, his friends and family. Trite though the phrase may seem, Ron would truly do anything to save them from harm, even if it means risking his own life - he's bold, perhaps not as much as Harry, but he is, and it is this fact, intertwined with his short temper, that can lead to him jumping headfirst into situations. Although his tendency to do just this can often unwittingly lead him straight into a mess, it should be noted that Ron always acts with the best intentions at heart. He is, after all, a good person - although he may be free with his fist and loose with his mouth, Ron's actions are always motivated by wanting to defend himself, defend others, and not by any inclination to hurt others in an unnecessarily cruel manner.

However, Ron's temper also lends to a nasty jealous streak; he is indeed the type to become ferociously envious at times, even if the reasoning behind his jealousy is completely irrational. This is one of Ron's most basic, inherent flaws, and simultaneously the one that has caused the greatest number of rifts between himself and his loved ones. When Ron is annoyed, jealous, or angry, he has a tendency to act like a fastidious child; he'll often sulk, act out against those he believes have wronged him, and generally refrain from apologising until the ugly truth is staring him hard in the face. After all, Ron's nothing if not stubborn.

However, Ron is, first and foremost, an easygoing type of bloke. His sense of humour acutely reflects this; unlike Harry or Hermione, for example, Ron shirks away from heavily emotional situations, choosing to lighten the mood with a(n often immature) joke or insult. Emotional stress doesn't sit well with Ron; truly, he'd much rather be laughing it up with Harry, relaxing by the Common Room fire and playing chess, than involving himself in the situations he ironically often finds himself in. Humour is his vice: it is what he uses to extract himself from the anxiety and discomfort that he would otherwise be experiencing. Although he's finding it more difficult to maintain his lighthearted stance as the days go on, and as life becomes grimmer, Ron's sarcastic, immature wit is still there - after all, if it wasn't, who would be able to make Harry smile?

All in all, Ron is a boy, immature and boisterous and so inherently male, one who will fight for his beliefs and defend those he loves, while also not hesitating to attack those he believes to be complete idiots. He's a Gryffindor to the very core, and it is this fact that makes him simultaneously aggravating as all hell and endearing beyond all belief.

• Likes: Chess, Exploding Snap, football, his broom, Harry, Hermione, his family (excluding Percy), Chocolate Frog cards, Dumbledore, girls, Chudley Cannons, the colour orange, Crookshanks.
• Dislikes: Viktor Krum, the Riddle Corporation, Draco Malfoy, Slytherins, the colour maroon, corn beef sandwiches, Percy, Viktor Krum, being wrong, Crookshanks, occasionally Pig.
• Strengths: Ron's strengths lie in his ability to infallibly stand up for his friends and family, and his ability to lighten a situation with an oddly-placed joke. He's also quite good at chess and regularly plays against anyone who's willing to. Ron's also a decent enough Keeper, although he does have a tendency to become flustered and nervous on the field.
• Weaknesses: Ron has a tendency to jump into situations without examining the facts beforehand; he's also extremely awkward in emotionally-intense atmospheres. While Ron's no Crabbe or Goyle, he's far from Hogwart's best student; he's strictly average in most subjects, although he's particularly inept at Sociology. It just makes no sense.

History: Ron's life is, first and foremost, the Burrow and those who live in its four crooked walls. He's lived in the house his entire life, surrounded by his numerous siblings and parents - it was a hectic sort of life from the very beginning, due to the twins' mischievous natures and their neverending pranks, as well as due to his sister's vicious kicks. Nevertheless, up until his first year at Hogwarts, Ron lived a relatively peaceful life at the Burrow, filled with long days playing Quidditch on his toy broomstick and degnoming the yards. Since Arthur had always worked fairly long hours at the Ministry, Molly took the responsiblity of tending to the children upon herself: she took them to primary school, helped them with their homework (as much as she was able to) and generally made sure they didn't get themselves killed.

Poverty has always been a major theme in Ron's life, so much so that he hardly noticed how acutely poor his family was until he begun his educational career at Hogwarts. The Weasley household is filled to the brim with second-hand merchandise, with no sign of the family's previous wealth of ages long ago. However, things are beginning to look up financially: Arthur's recent promotion and the twins' booming success of a business are at last easing the tough fiscal stress the Weasleys' have been under for so long. However, while the increase in money has marginally brightened the mood in the Burrow, the negative effects of the Riddle Corporation's ascension to power has also taken its toll on the household - most prominently in Bill's injury and Percy's estrangement from the family.

Ron's own individual life began when he first met Harry Potter at Hogwarts High: ever since the two bonded over sugary sweets and a contempt of cornbeef sandwiches, Harry and Ron have been the best of friends. While the association with the troublesome Harry Potter has landed Ron in many a sticky spot over the years, the friendship between the two is indomitable - as is, of course, their friendship with one Hermione Granger, ie: the smartest girl in the school. While Harry's friendship with the girl seems to have remained rather static over the years, Ron's own feelings for Hermione are far from clear: Ron's rather confused about where they stand, but one thing he does know is that he feels the irrational urge to punch any bloke who dares to try and talk to her. Sodding Viktor Krum.

MISCELLANEOUS

Thoughts on Riddle Corporation: Hah. You have to ask? Ron has a fervent dislike for any and all things Riddle-related: this ranges from the Corporation itself to anyone remotely associated with the thing (ie: Draco Malfoy). He, like the rest of his family, will not hesitate to tell everyone and anyone exactly what he thinks of the company - and his words quite possibly won't be acceptable for younger ears.

Lesson Schedule: Sociology (although he's really just taking the subject for laughs), Maths, Physical Education, English Literature and Language.

PB: Rupert Grint.

SAMPLES.

Sample RP:
Ron detested shopping; he really and truly did. What was the point, he wondered, of wandering aimlessly around shoppes that had NO sports equipment whatsoever, and then, after hours upon hours of LOOKING, leaving without buying a single thing? It was right stupid. There was also the minute fact that Ron often didn't have any money to spend on these aforementioned stupid items - and entering a store where a plain BOX was five Galleons reminded him acutely of all the money he didn't have.

Thus, it was with a heavy heart and reluctant will that Ron followed Hermione into the dusty store, watching with scepticism as Hermione rushed eagerly over to the specialty scrolls at the back. Ron sighed heavily. "Scrolls?" he muttered, trailing slowly behind her and pausing occasionally to poke at the various overpriced items sitting on the shelves. "Who're you shopping for here, anyway?" he questioned, his thoughts floating involuntarily to Viktor Krum. Hermione was still writing letters to him, wasn't she?

Wandering about the store, Ron eyed the scrolls of paper that filled every corner of the musty building. "I don't understand how you could find this shite interesting," he muttered, as he picked up a delicate cylinder and rattled it. "What is this?" As he glanced at the price, Ron's eyes widened. "Bloody hell, this is expensive. Ten galleons for a ruddy box?"

Sample Entry:
Well, I suppose I might as well write an entry in this thing, although the whole idea seems a bit GIRLY to me. It's practically a diary, for God's sake! Next thing you know, I'll be whinging about my feelings and crying all over the place.

There's not much to say, really; I've been busy with Hermione and Harry doing, y'know, things. We're at the Burrow, and shite, let me tell you, I'm going mad. Mum's been making me deweed the garden every sodding weekend, and the stupid things KEEP GROWING BACK. I don't even get why the hell a proper garden matters - not as if removing a few twigs is going to do much at all to make the yard look good, yeah? Not as if the postman gives a shite.

Right, I'm bored with this. Is anyone I like actually even using these? I don't mean you, Hermione, I already see YOU every day, DON'T RESPOND.
