Flashback: The Disabled Duo beginnings
Of all the stupid...a boarding school for the weird kids is where he'd been sent. He had no illusions about it, none. Caused his parents enough trouble being deaf and lashing out about it. But when they found out about his little snapping power? They took the first opportunity they could to send him away with all the other little society misfits. At least now he wouldn't ever stand out as a mutant freak. Nope, now he was in his usual disabled kid schtick. Not much better really, you either got made fun of or pitied. Unless of course you lashed out a little, then they just stayed away, which was preferable.

Grumbling for the fiftieth time that day, Simon pulls his suitcase and bags along to the door of the place and knocks. He just wanted this all over with already.

	"I'll bet you were, but things are kind of ebb and flow around here. Might be they weren't exactly sure of the time or something - or maybe there's a fire." She shrugged and stepped aside, still smiling. "C'mon in. I can show you to your room and get you settled, at least. I'm Sasha," she said, holding out her hand to the somewhat-sullen looking boy. Not catching all of that, only her name and something about showing him his room, he reluctantly shakes the outstretched hand and sighs, "Simon. And sure, lead the way I guess." Trudging after the rather bouncy girl, he drags his bags along. At least the place looked rather nice.

"So...what do you do?" He's curious, it's not like one runs into other mutants very often and he figured if there was one place that wouldn't be a rude question it'd be here.

	She turned her head back to him as he followed her up the stairs, smiling reassuringly. Yeah, that was sort of one of the first questions new kids asked and got asked. Between the noise of carrying his bags up the stairs and everything else, the only word he clearly catches is 'soundwaves'. He's not sure what to make of it, and he's a little worried that asking for a demonstration would be rude on top of the fact that if she dealt with sound he's scared he wouldn't be able to hear the demonstration.

"I make explosions," he shrugs. Only good thing about this girl so far was that she hadn't said anything about the hearing aids (which he's been told are less noticeable than he thinks they are). If she asked it was only fair to ask about her eyes, because they didn't seem to have any connection to her powers. Not that he knew anything about them beyond 'soundwaves'.

She'd noticed them by the fact they were emitting a frequency - and ears generally didn't do that. They get to the top of the stairs and she starts leading him down the hall to one of the empty dorm rooms. "Explosions, huh? Well, make sure you don't set anything on fire. But, there's extinguishers on each floor, since we generally have at least one pyro-themed mutant around."

He nods along, pretending to hear, and takes note of a fire extinguisher nearby. Setting his bags down, he glances around the room quickly. Not bad, but not much to look at either, he's more interested in the rest of the place.

"I can look around now right?" Although he'd do it even if he wasn't allowed anyway. But why does he have a feeling she won't let him do the exploring on his own?

"Kind of a part and parcel mix. Was born blind, but the sound manip came in when my powers kicked in. Fortunately, I was also born with echolocation, so I didn't walk into things as much as I could have." She didn't mind talking about it, not with someone who she felt had a similar experience. That, and she found talking helped open people up, which Simon seemed to need.
