Spending the night in the city took some serious getting used to. He'd been in Denver enough, but New York was something else entirely. Taking the cab out to the country was something of a relief. He doesn't have much, just the one gym bag of worldly possessions. He makes his way out of the cab and up to the gate, studying the school from afar for several minutes before finally ringing the buzzer.

Corey was barefoot beneath the trees with his catalog again. He hops up and goes to the gate. "Hey!"

"Hi... I'm Lucas Moonstar. I think I'm expected."

"Oh. I bet you are!" He presses buttons to open the gate, then extends a hand once Lucas is in. "Cornelius Drake. Corey."

Lucas extends his hand in turn. "Nice to meet you, Corey."

"Nice to meet you, too, Lucas. And, uh, just for the record, and no offense meant, I'm afraid of jellyfish, disintegration, and Spam. So you don't need to do anything to check about that or anything." He grins.

He eyes Corey a moment, then gets a big grin. "I think I can manage that. I think by now if I didn't know the name, I'd have a guess whose son you are."

Corey laughs. "I take after the Aquila side a little bit, too." Teensy, tiny, bit of earthquakiness in the immediate region. "So, need a hand finding the office?"

"Yeah, actually, I'd appreciate that. In theory I know where things are, but theories aren't always fool proof."

"Gotcha. Right this way." There's a nice normal walkway, but Corey'll trot at the side as he takes him inside. "First time in the state?" he asks conversationally

"Yeah, first time out of the midwest, really." Not counting astral travel. "How long have you been here for?"

"Less than two years at the school, but we've always lived not-too-far except summers and stuff in Nova Roma."

"Huh, ok, so you know the area pretty well. Good to know... I'd like to try and get to know the area a little bit eventually. Out of curiosity, what's Noma Rova like? I've only heard of it in passing."

"I'd be happy to show you around sometime."

"Nova Roma," he says distinctly but not in an correctional voice, "Is gorgeous. Probably the prettiest city in the world, surrounded by the prettiest trees and -- and here's the annoying part -- nestled as an enclave amidst one of the dumbest political and economic situations in the world. South America's kinda short on smart governments and smart businesses these days."

He considers that. At least to a degree, something he knows a bit about. "Yeah, they're not working very hard on sustainable agriculture, between government greed and lower class lack of education and poverty... I'm glad Nova Roma has been able to sustain itself in the midst of it all. I'd love to see it someday."

Corey nods. Well, if Lucas wants to state the issues all calmly instead of ranting all teenager-like, that works, too.
"They've had a lot of practice working with what they've got in way that does well for the small scale, yeah. And we'd be happy to have you along eventually. How're things out west?"

That's one thing Corey and the others will likely find - Lucas doesn't rant much.
"Colorado is... very Colorado. There's a lot less space in Boulder than when Mom grew up. Its almost indistinguishable from Denver now. The skiing and camping and whitewater rafting and all is still perfectly good though."

"Partly a powers thing, partly a personal-aesthetic thing." Corey grins. "I can, in fact, stand in things that aren't dirt, of course." Illustrating this, they make it inside the mansion and he walks him toward the designated 'school-administrative' area.

"I'd hope so, would make getting to classes, or back and forth to Nova Roma interesting otherwise." he adds, heading towards the administrative area to get checked in.
