More Lightning at Sea Things!
Y'all probably remember that last video I posted, the fake trailer for my friend and I's AU with the evil Water Tribe. That trailer has been taken down because I made a couple tweaks and reposted it. The new link is here; the largest change involves the music. I think this new one works better.
I've also created a kind of teaser trailer, which probably should have come first, but whatever. Like all teasers, it is a lying liar who lies like Azula, but it's still fun. It's likely that some of the scenes in this particular trailer will not appear in the story itself, but it was still fun to do, which is really the whole point of the exercise, non?

AU Fantrailer
So a few months ago, Bex and I got to talking about an alternate universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, wherein rather than the Fire Nation starting the war, it was the Water Tribes. Not long after that, Tide and Time (LiveJournal | FF dot net) resulted, because Bex is an awesome Bex. We, however, were not finished. There is going to be more in this world - after all, we have to find out what the Fire Royals are up to, and where everyone's favourite airbender fits in!
So, because I love this 'verse and I am on crack, I made a trailer for the AU to try and get people excited about it.

Soldier's Boy 27 and notes on other things.
Yes, I know it's been awhile. Yes, I know I suck. But you know what? It isn't like anyone is reading this, anyway, so why bother to update?
For anyone who gives a damn (all one of you), Small Flame is on hiatus until June, since there's exams of doom and I'm heading home for the summer. Soldier's Boy is going on hiatus after this chapter and will resume updating with Small Flame. Roulette is cancelled unless a miracle happens and I recover the logs/buffer. Magicbending will hopefully resume after Small Flame; there is a possibility of a new AU after Soldier's Boy called The Humane Solution (more on that later).
Head Games is not dependent upon matching schedules and will update as I so please.

This is a rune of mystery and things not being quite what they seem.
"Please - come in, rest awhile," says Song to the raging husband, the vengeful bandit, the intrusive soldiers.
"No, I've not seen anyone come by of late," says Song while beneath her feet tremble the beaten children, the terrified wife, the frightened refugees.
She listens to the complains, nodding and smiling and making the proper noises of concern, lying with a smile in her eyes and rage buried in her heart.
"Oh, but you must be tired," she purrs, reaching for her special blend. "Allow me to make you some fortifying tea."
Of course they agree, relieved that at least this clever, pretty young thing sees the right of the world.
Song has friends in town, friends she pays well to take away the sleeping husbands, bandits, soldiers, and put on a boat downriver. She never worries of revenge - she can take care of herself, and she treats the people of her village for free. Vengeance is... discouraged.

"He has to be stopped," the young man said to the people who have gathered close to him. "The comet is coming and Ba Sing Se has fallen. The Avatar has been gone for a century; likely the cycle has been broken. We can't count on a miracle."
"Who can stop the Firelord?" asked the leader, eyeing the boy askance. "You?"
Golden eyes blazed. "Yes."
eyes squeezed shut
Heat blasts all around me, but I scarcely notice it. All I know is the rock to my back, protecting me from Ozai's attacks, though I don't think it'll hold out much longer. His fire is so harsh it hurts my eyes; I keep them closed and listen for his fire to prevent him from getting the drop on me.
It's intoxicating, this power filling me, but it won't be enough to defeat Ozai.
Good thing that was never the plan.

"Don't do this, Ichiro."
"I'm the only one who can."
"He'll kill you!"
"I know."
"Why are you doing this?"
"The Firelord is mad. He sees only the path to victory - and even then, it is a path that only exists within his head. The war is won, says the Fire Nation. But still the Earth Kingdom fights back. He'll use the comet to break this country like Sozin broke the Air Nomads."
"You're no match for him."
"I don't have to be. I only have to hold out long enough for the comet to pass."

He doesn't understand.
This boy, this unknown, this surprisingly powerful firebender -- who is he? Where did he come from? How did he come to be so powerful and yet avoid my notice, the notice of my men?
Ozai frowns.
Heads will roll for this.
The boy is fighting him with all his heart, all his soul, and while he isn't winning, Ozai isn't winning either. The boy's determination burns in his eyes like a nova - but novas only shine for a brief time before they are snuffed out.

The rogue firebender's concerns were certainly valid, and it certainly helped that the local villagers believed Ozai capable of almost any atrocity. So when he urged them to evacuate the area, they packed essentials and what little wealth they had, fleeing the upcoming battleground.

Oh, gods. I can't feel anything anymore.

I feel pain.
It's been a long fight. I got lucky; he couldn't hit me with lightning. But speed doesn't win battles.
It's over. Ozai's destroyed me.

Summary: During an encounter with pirates, the gaang picks up two new allies: A swordsman named Lee and his younger earthbending brother, Jiro.
