So she'd really messed up this time, hadn't she?

Larkin couldn't help but think so as she quickly pushed the bathroom door back and locked it behind her. A heavy exhale that she'd been holding in for the past hour finally left her, and much to her dismay, a lot of anxious thoughts and feelings that she'd kept bottled up came to a head too.

And then, they took over her like a storm, an uncontrollable wave that she had been for too long keeping at bay.

This was far, far, far too much to handle. A reception where she knew no one, in a foreign country where she barely spoke the language--- she couldn't be a... princess, what had she been thinking? The first two weeks of this marriage had been manageable, but now that she was here and the expectations that came with him and his family--- she had a life! In England! And a family, friends that she had stupidly given up for... for what? A charming smile? Romantic dates? Intelligent... conversation? She didn't care about that! She cared about adventures, and seeing the world, experiencing all there was to offer, and she certainly wasn't going to do that stuck up in a palace for the rest of her life.

Overwhelmed by this sudden flood of terror, Larkin bent over to her knees to breath deeply at an attempt at calming herself. But, the hanging jewels from her diadem fell over her eyes, and with a muted shriek Larkin quickly ripped the entire thing off her head and threw it to the ground.

Everywhere, he was everywhere, she couldn't escape it, she couldn't escape him--- her heart immediately tweezed, for she did not think of Zayn like that, not truly. Staring intensely at the now disfigured crown on the floor, Larkin went to gently pick it up. It had been a gift from him within the first few weeks of dating. She had assumed it fake, but now she knew better.

Playing with it, tears eventually came to Larkin's eyes as she felt confused and alone. She did care for her husband, she did, but she had not know-- he had not told her his life was this, the prince of a country. And not just any country, but Saudi Arabia, and he wasn't even--- she slid to the floor, pressing her palms into her forehead awkwardly. A right bloody disaster she had gotten herself into.

He wasn't even a wizard, how was she even going to explain that? The heir to the throne's wife could do magic? Oh, that would go over well, surely. Larkin bit down on her bottom lip, too petrified to do much else.

What could she do? What was there to do? This was a royal marriage, she was at a royal wedding reception, her own, one she had agreed, happily so before understanding that this union meant and now.... there was no escape. Larkin wiped her eyes, dragging her gaze through the small, yet incredibly ornate bathroom. Maybe everything wouldn't be as horrible as it seemed, maybe she would grow to.... enjoy what her new life brought. She did love Zayn, after all, as he had been nothing but a prince to her (a joke she could no longer used, she quickly realized), so it wouldn't be like she was stuck in a loveless marriage---

A loud banging on the door behind her began, followed by some tense, yet seemingly concerned Arabic. But it only jolted Larkin into a further state of fear, and she snapped her eyes shut and moved her hands to cover her ears.

No, no, no, she had to get out of here, she couldn't stay this was a horrible mistake--- suddenly, Larkin noticed a square of moonlight reflecting on the tile floor. She followed the stream up, and before she even had to think about it, Larkin carefully placed her diadem on the sink and aggressively hiked her dress up. The window above the cabinet was small, but she was sure she would be able to squeeze through it.
