Because if a sword is trying something, it is probably a magic sword, what with having some kind of agency in order to try. And if it's a sword, it is, indeed, a weapon. So if it's trying to destroy magic weapons, it has embarked on a mission that can only end in self-destruction -- assuming it doesn't begin there."
