Sometime in the future
It's been a long and hard night of detective work for Thomas. A rash of killings has hit Gotham and the victims seem unconnected no matter what angle they've looked at. Was it the beginnings of a gang war or a random killer on the loose? So far interrogating the scum all over the city has been useless. They know nothing. Not in the way where they know something and aren't telling, but they genuinely don't know anything about the mystery killer or killers he's hunting. He's not sure if the possibility that this is an isolated individual should relieve him or not, after all, so far they've got no real evidence that it's even one killer or that these killings are related. But there's no such thing as coincidence for a detective.

Thomas decides to rest at one of the nearby satellite caves Batman has set up around Gotham over the years, it's cold and rainy and he's sick of hitting dead ends. This is one of the smaller ones, stocked with basic gear, a civilian change of clothes, first aid and some food. It also happens to be the one he's told the Fox about. Not that he'd admit to doing that if any of the others asked. But if she wanted to find him or needed help, he wanted her to have a safe spot to go. Maybe that's why he seems to gravitate towards this one whenever he can, it's not like he ever expects her there though.

He shakes out the rain from his cape as he enters and is about to peel of the mask when he sees the bleeding figure on the floor.

She quirks an eyebrow. "I try to give vague threats and you treat it like.... flirting. You are strange."

"There was a reason the Fox wouldn't let me watch them. He had me watch musicals instead." She can't help the way she grins. "And he had me lean a little bit of ballet. I was never very good... but it's fun to watch too. I enjoy how dark the theaters are. Makes it more private."

"Hmm well I've had far scarier people follow through on much worse and more specific threats. And they didn't look half as good as you do. Can you blame me?" He just gives her a playful eyebrow raise and smile.

"Then I guess I'll have to drag you to one someday. I think you'd appreciate the comedy part of it all more than most. Wait till you see all the useless lasers they use." The ballet part doesn't suprise him, she moves more gracefully than most on the rooftops. Which of course makes her more enjoyable to chase down. He doesn't mention the operas and plays he's had to go to all his life, it's too close to secret ID territory.

"See but the thing about being vague is you're supposed to fill in the blanks and quiver in fear," Sarah teases him. "You're so hard to terrify when I'm being nice."

She raises an eyebrow when he says that. "We'd have to wear disguises. Because you can't go in uniform Robin... and people I don't want to hurt you know me."

She reaches to trace his arm thoughtfully. "I guess disguises could be fun. I haven't come up with a street face in a very long time."

"You forget who you're talking to. 'Striking fear into the hearts of criminals'? You remember that part of the whole Gotham vigilantes thing? I do the scaring, you do the quivering." He winks to show he doubts he can get her to ever quiver in fear.

"I like that idea. Got a certain physical preference when it comes to your men? I can't do short though, that's my only thing." Watching her trace his arm he plays along by using what little new Farsi he's gone a learnt since meeting her. "I look forward to it."

"Yes but you're not Batman. Every hero here is... unique." She can't help the way that has her smirk.

That has her eyebrows go up and she responds to him in Farsi. "You've been studying." Then she switches to French using a Belgium accent to throw her voice a bit. "It would be interesting to see you use a.... Ginger look. You are dark. Gingers are not."

Now she switches back to English and gives him an innocent glance. "What would you like to see on me?"

"But I'm trained by him, and apparently I do the fear thing better than a lot of my...predecessors." Plus that fear thing works, don't listen to those non-Gotham heroes.

He just can't keep the smirk off his face when he's around her. The response is in a more Parisian accent, leaning towards one that's more book-learned though, "I'm taking that as a challenge then."

Taking a strand of her hair he twirls it between his fingers while thinking. Back to English he responds finally, "How about...brunette. Let's see how you pull that one off. I'm betting on very well though."

"Knives and other projectiles have their places but you should never rely on them that much. Doesn't mean they aren't useful as hell." To make his point he fishes out a batarang from his backpack on the floor and gets ready to throw it. "Arkham." He calls out the target and with a flick of the wrist the batarang is thrown across the room straight into the map on the other side, one of its tips embedded in Arkham Asylum.

He may be showing off a bit.

"So is this your way of sayng I should try the freckles or no? I wasn't going to but..."

"I use them for utility. Or parrying. I've had to do that before. Some people jump to sharp objects instead of traditional projectiles." She had to blink and leaned forward in a way her body didn't agree with she froze carefully.

"You're well trained," she gets out and slowly closes her eyes to help ignore the pain.

"Freckles. It would make a better disguise. No one expects them."

"Well the sharp objects make their attacks predictable. Nobody needs to worry if the guy charging at you with a knife is going to kick you instead of stab you." He frowns as he notices her in pain. "You alright? Did you need anything? There's painkillers..."

"And thanks, it took a while."

The mental image of the tow of them makes him chuckle, "Freckles it is. What a screwed up pair we'll be compared to our usual selves."

"I... sat wrong." She winces and tries to shift back so there is no strain on the muscle. "Painkillers might help if it's bad. Doesn't feel so bad now that I'm not leaning forward."

"I have to be careful normally." She touches her hair. "I think my features are too....Nice. People remember green eyes and blonde hair. Being.... different is better. It will be easier for me to blend and relax."

He waits for her to shift back to a more comfortable position, shifting closer so that if she needs a hand he's there. "Just say if you need any, there's quite a few around here."

There's a tilt of his head as he seems to consider this, and he just smiles. "I think your features are very nice too. And certainly memorable." She's right about that making it hard to blend in though. You could tell the colour of his eyes from across a room, it makes it hard to blend in, which is why he usually wears contacts with disguises. People remembered piercing blue too much, but he can't exactly tell her that. "We'll make it a challenge to look as unlike ourselves as possible then. If you want stakes or not that's up to you." Yes he's a tad competitive, maybe too much sometimes but it makes things fun.

He may have noticed she doesn't like drugs. After that first night she avoided them unless she really needed them.

She gives him a slow look then chuckles warmly. "You just want to see if you can win. Besides the fact I'm not sure if you'd recognize me if I really went all out... Would be less fun if we didn't recognize each other right off the bat and went our separate ways."

He doesn't push the issue. When you're a Bat and go out every night with the injuries of the previous nights piled on, occassionally you'll need some painkillers.

"True, or we both tried finding and following one another and ended up wasting the whole day. I might end up picking the person most unlike you and stalking a kindly old man, who knows who you'd end up after. We'll need some way to recognize each other I guess." He gives her a warm smile and puts his finished dinner to the side. "Did you want me to fix any stitches and wrap them now or are you good?"

He laughs but agrees, "I'm not surprised. And I will not be telling you about some of the disguises I've had to do." Not at all, those were certifiable blackmail material that all Robins agreed never to speak of. "But the braid will work, it works on you."

Thomas goes to get what equipment he needs and when he gets back he stands in front of her, more like towers over her, and gives her a deadpan look. "The shirt is going to have to go you know. I don't see how this is going to work if it's in the way."

He crouches by her and gets to work. "Did you actually do these or are you trying to give me distracting mental images? Because you don't want to do that to the guy fixing your stitches."

He glances up at her from his position and smirks back, "And here I thought the thief was supposed to be good and getting through all sorts of security in odd positions. I guess you just can't handle a few buttons." Teasing her is far too much fun not to do it.

That actually gets a slow blush from Sarah. It creeps up her cheeks and she quickly tears her gaze away. "I just get the feeling that even if I managed to reach some things you'd distract me and I'd have trouble getting the rest."
