Sometime in the future
It's been a long and hard night of detective work for Thomas. A rash of killings has hit Gotham and the victims seem unconnected no matter what angle they've looked at. Was it the beginnings of a gang war or a random killer on the loose? So far interrogating the scum all over the city has been useless. They know nothing. Not in the way where they know something and aren't telling, but they genuinely don't know anything about the mystery killer or killers he's hunting. He's not sure if the possibility that this is an isolated individual should relieve him or not, after all, so far they've got no real evidence that it's even one killer or that these killings are related. But there's no such thing as coincidence for a detective.

Thomas decides to rest at one of the nearby satellite caves Batman has set up around Gotham over the years, it's cold and rainy and he's sick of hitting dead ends. This is one of the smaller ones, stocked with basic gear, a civilian change of clothes, first aid and some food. It also happens to be the one he's told the Fox about. Not that he'd admit to doing that if any of the others asked. But if she wanted to find him or needed help, he wanted her to have a safe spot to go. Maybe that's why he seems to gravitate towards this one whenever he can, it's not like he ever expects her there though.

He shakes out the rain from his cape as he enters and is about to peel of the mask when he sees the bleeding figure on the floor.

He smiles to himself at her blushing, it kind of was but he's not going to tell her and embarass her more.

"I'm usually better, you just had me panicked." Okay he admitted that, and the only times he's had to stitch himself had been more minor injuries. All the major ones Alfred had handled. "We can do the stitching after dinner okay?"

Handing over the gyro he sits beside her to start on his dinner. "Sorry about the shabby accomodations by the way. It's not meant for more than a night's stay."

She's going to take a bite of her food and chew before continuing. "I've had worse. Trust me this is good enough. I can at least rest as much as I need to without having to change locations for safety."

She pushes some of her now dirty feeling hair back over her shoulder. She might braid her hair just to keep it out of the way. "If I get really cooped up I might get you to move me to a safe house tomorrow night. It's..... petty crappy but the bed won't kill my back. And there's a decent bathroom for cleaning up in."

	Other than the mask, he's in civies at the moment so he shrugs off the leather jacket and tosses it to the corner of the bed. "There's not much to move so it won't be hard. 	She nodded slightly. "So long as I don't bend at the waist I can manage it." The only awkward part really will be holding onto him. It'll be different than other encounters because he's in civilian clothes. She still thinks of him as Robin even like this though. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"It's okay." She nibbles at her food a bit. "Just.... Weird. I never had a difference between myself and the Fox. I was.... either student or the Fox. No.... real established street identity." He just tilts his head and listens. How odd, he could never imagine not having a line between Thomas and Robin. Not that it was a very clear line all the time but still... The more he found out about her past the more fascinating it was.

"Hmm I guess if you never grew up that way I can see how you wouldn't make one. I just grew up with some people who had very clear differences, and well some who didn't have such clear lines but still there was always at least some seperation." He looks thoughtful again. "I'm sorry if it bothers you...I...find that some seperation helps. Even if one part of your life isn't going well, you always have the other." Changing universes kinda screws up your secret ID life but...

"I jut was never given a reason to try and build something outside of the job. Yeah, I have people I can see as friends in a way.... but they knew me as hat little tag along girl." She shrugs broadly.

"I have no idea if they could take me entirely seriously. I'm working on building my reputation as best I can given how.... restrained I need to be. At least they know I;'m a professional. I won't betray a contract. It's just not done." She glances at him again and shakes her head.

"Robin. It doesn't bother me. I'm just...Not like you. My job is too much of who I am. I can't see it changing either."

"I find it hard to see how anyone could look at you and think 'tag-along'. Hell I've spent most of my life, even now, as just the sidekick. It's kinda nice having you not see me that way. I certainly don't see you as a tag along." It's one of the few times in his life that's happened, he's just Robin, not little sidekick kid. And he appreciates that more than he'll ever admit.

"It's hard to change, doesn't mean you can't try..." He wants her to be done with all this mob stuff, and preferably the criminal part too but...he's realistic in thinking that won't be likely to happen.

Thomas swipes some of her fries and tries to lighten the mood, "Alright, for next time I come over, what type of food do you like? I kinda made a wild guess this time..."

"Mexican or Indian." She gives him a look. "And if you do that again Robin I will bite you."

She's serious stay away from her tasty carbs. She shovels a few in her mouth to chew quickly. "I don't know what I'd do outside of this though.... Just.... No idea. I feel like even though I can infiltrate places I can't really stay there for good. Too easy to slip up. Don't know how to settle in for a long time."

	And yes she does bite him. On the hand. She even set her gyro down to make sure she wasn't going to topple into his lap. The biting amuses him more than anything. As he draws his hand away he laughs at her, "So you do bite. I'll keep that in mind for the future..." His smirk tells her he certainly doesn't mind though.

"Reading? Hmmm that works. What books? And is there anything you do that's more social that I'll have to drag you to?" He really just wants an excuse to do that, and he'll be damned if he can't find one.

He just smirks back, "I guess we'll find out if I'm a bit of a masochist or not."

"Never read it but I've heard good things about it. As for mysteries, let's just say I've read all the classics. The newer police mystery ones don't interest me as much to be honest. I'll have to bring you a book next time I come visit, with food of course." Being a gopher for her isn't such a bad thing...

She gives him a look. "Are you trying to get me to do horrible things to you when I can't be too mobile?"

She chuckles a bit. "To be honest I read mysteries to mock bad thieves. It's... almost a guilty pleasure because I shouldn't mock them for not being able to wear a proper disguise or leave a place without a trace."

Not when they end up flirting and talking apparently.

"Sounds like the way I watch crime dramas. And those heist movies? They're like screwball comedies for me. It's impressive how incompetent people are in those things, not that that's always far from the truth..." They really are, movie night with his mother always involved spending the whole time laughing at the 'thieves'.

He's going to kind of miss this once she gets better and he has no excuse to see her casually like this.

She quirks an eyebrow. "I try to give vague threats and you treat it like.... flirting. You are strange."

"There was a reason the Fox wouldn't let me watch them. He had me watch musicals instead." She can't help the way she grins. "And he had me lean a little bit of ballet. I was never very good... but it's fun to watch too. I enjoy how dark the theaters are. Makes it more private."

"Hmm well I've had far scarier people follow through on much worse and more specific threats. And they didn't look half as good as you do. Can you blame me?" He just gives her a playful eyebrow raise and smile.

"Then I guess I'll have to drag you to one someday. I think you'd appreciate the comedy part of it all more than most. Wait till you see all the useless lasers they use." The ballet part doesn't suprise him, she moves more gracefully than most on the rooftops. Which of course makes her more enjoyable to chase down. He doesn't mention the operas and plays he's had to go to all his life, it's too close to secret ID territory.

"See but the thing about being vague is you're supposed to fill in the blanks and quiver in fear," Sarah teases him. "You're so hard to terrify when I'm being nice."

She raises an eyebrow when he says that. "We'd have to wear disguises. Because you can't go in uniform Robin... and people I don't want to hurt you know me."

She reaches to trace his arm thoughtfully. "I guess disguises could be fun. I haven't come up with a street face in a very long time."

"You forget who you're talking to. 'Striking fear into the hearts of criminals'? You remember that part of the whole Gotham vigilantes thing? I do the scaring, you do the quivering." He winks to show he doubts he can get her to ever quiver in fear.

"I like that idea. Got a certain physical preference when it comes to your men? I can't do short though, that's my only thing." Watching her trace his arm he plays along by using what little new Farsi he's gone a learnt since meeting her. "I look forward to it."

"Yes but you're not Batman. Every hero here is... unique." She can't help the way that has her smirk.

That has her eyebrows go up and she responds to him in Farsi. "You've been studying." Then she switches to French using a Belgium accent to throw her voice a bit. "It would be interesting to see you use a.... Ginger look. You are dark. Gingers are not."

Now she switches back to English and gives him an innocent glance. "What would you like to see on me?"

He just can't keep the smirk off his face when he's around her. The response is in a more Parisian accent, leaning towards one that's more book-learned though, "I'm taking that as a challenge then."

Taking a strand of her hair he twirls it between his fingers while thinking. Back to English he responds finally, "How about...brunette. Let's see how you pull that one off. I'm betting on very well though."
