He can't trust her, he knows this, but that isn't really what's stopping him. It feels like he'd be taking advantage of her, not to mention that he'd feel like an absolute heel because he wouldn't be able to take the mask off. Perhaps his priorities are wrong but the end result is the same, so he'll settle for being able to get this close.
It takes him longer than it should to get back to the couch, he's a tad distracted after all, and he gently places her on it, trying not to hurt her. The kissing is only, very reluctantly, broken off when he puts her down to make sure she's fine.
