Sometime in the future
It's been a long and hard night of detective work for Thomas. A rash of killings has hit Gotham and the victims seem unconnected no matter what angle they've looked at. Was it the beginnings of a gang war or a random killer on the loose? So far interrogating the scum all over the city has been useless. They know nothing. Not in the way where they know something and aren't telling, but they genuinely don't know anything about the mystery killer or killers he's hunting. He's not sure if the possibility that this is an isolated individual should relieve him or not, after all, so far they've got no real evidence that it's even one killer or that these killings are related. But there's no such thing as coincidence for a detective.

Thomas decides to rest at one of the nearby satellite caves Batman has set up around Gotham over the years, it's cold and rainy and he's sick of hitting dead ends. This is one of the smaller ones, stocked with basic gear, a civilian change of clothes, first aid and some food. It also happens to be the one he's told the Fox about. Not that he'd admit to doing that if any of the others asked. But if she wanted to find him or needed help, he wanted her to have a safe spot to go. Maybe that's why he seems to gravitate towards this one whenever he can, it's not like he ever expects her there though.

He shakes out the rain from his cape as he enters and is about to peel of the mask when he sees the bleeding figure on the floor.

	She had gotten in a while ago. She had been feeling too hurt to crawl to where the first aid was so she had just let herself drop like a stone. But she thinks she hears him and just barely shifts. She hopes all the blood doesn't scare him. She knows she will live hurt she hurts so much right now. And it likely looks worse than it is. "Robin?" (Reply to this)(Thread)

"Shit! What happened?" He's at her side in two strides, his normal composed manner gone. Not panicking per se, just...well yes he's panicked. But training wins out as he manages to scan the damage with a relatively calm head.

"We're going to have to take that off. I'll go get the first aid while you do that. If you can't I'll get to it in a moment. Don't move." He'll carry her to the small cot in the corner later, he's not supposed to move an injured person, but for now he dashes over to get the first aid. The wound is looking pretty bad, what could have happened?

"S-Someone got the jump on me, real bad. They.... messed up my leg too."

She starts to pulled her gloves away. Then with deft fingers she starts to undo her straps so she can open up the front of her uniform so she can push it down.

"I think there's an exit wound in the back. Hurts real bad and my back feels slight," she tells him with a hiss of pain then jut has to stop.

Hurts too much again.

Back with the first aid case he kneels beside her. He hands her what looks like a cloth, "Put pressure on the leg wound while I work on this one okay? That thing is antibacterial and is designed to help stop bleeding." He gets to work cleaning and disinfecting the torso wound.

Gotta keep her awake and talking. "Okay, first thing's first. Where were you, who was it and what happened?"

Now where is the damn morphine? It was here somewhere...

"Okay." She does what she can for her leg. She's going to have to really go out on a limb even further and just trust him. She hurts too much for anything but this.

"I had just finished making a delivery to the Penguin's club. Can't believe he still runs it... Anyways. Yeah. I was walking with my hood off. Going back towards a place I like to climb up. Suddenly this..... guy. Don't know. He was kinda small? Looked weird. He got in my space and asked me if I knew where this street was...... Delaney? I'm not sure."

Sarah touches her face with her now bare hand. Then rubs along the edge of her mask to work it off. "I don't know if it was him. But shortly after that I was attacked."

Finally, morphine pills found! Thomas hands her the appropriate amount, no time to get water so she'll have to make do. And these are going to need stitches...damn.

While Thomas gets what he needs out to start the stitches he continues the questions, "Alright, so small weird guy jumps you after asking where Delaney street is. Anything else?" Keep her talking...he can't afford to let her pass out yet. That and he wants the first shot at the jerk who attacked her. He'll be needing the emergency room after Robin is done with him.

She dry swallows them and winces. After this she will want water.

"Yes. He got violent? Fast. Quick. Like he did this before." Sarah looks distant for the moment. "Think I hurt him. I.... I'm convinced he didn't consciously realize I was wearing a mask either. I think this was less than random."

Sarah winces as he's doing the stitches up. "You do know that I may be stuck up here for a few days? I won't feel up for moving. Could be a problem."

The new information puts a very serious frown on his face. The guy who attacked her is practiced, and clearly good if he can hurt her like this. "Good job, I'll beat him into the ground later don't worry. He might have something to do with those killings that have been happening recently." There will be a lot of violence once he finds this guy. No way he lets him get away with this, and if he's involved in the deaths? It'll be worse.

"I don't see the problem." Thomas looks up at her now, "There's food, a bed and I'll get you anything else you need." This particular hide-out has no computers or other confidential info, it's partially why he told her about it.

"Those people? I remember hearing about it.... The Boss was giving a couple of the guys the third degree 'cause he was making sure it wasn't them. He doesn't tolerate psychos," Sarah lets slip. Her boss is a strange combination of a bastard and a Gentleman.

"It's not that. I trust you. You wouldn't hurt me if I'm being good and I can't be bad if I have to rest in your roost," she points out. "And even when I'm doing my job you don't get unnecessarily rough with me. It's my Boss. He might wonder if I skipped town."

He files that information away for late, most of the old organized crime elements don't like the crazier criminals, even the themed ones. But not all of them, this narrows her employers down a bit.

"I doubt he'd be happy to hear he's got one on his payroll, which just tells me that this guy isn't your common mob enforcer."

That is a problem...he can keep her here but the repurcussions that might come down on her because of a few days off...well not good to say the least. "What do you suggest we do then? If he's going to panic after only a few days he sounds like a problematic employer. You really should look into a new one."

And she's definitely seen as a sane villain.

"No.... He's no angel. But he's better than most. He won't tolerate a lot off shit other people do. If he wasn't an ass on occasion I'd like him."

"I can get you something you can pass along to one of the errand boys if I have to. The Boss will be okay if he knows I'm hurt... He just likes me checking in." Sarah pales at the idea of another Boss.

"I can't. His Boss is blackmailing me into staying with his Family. The Boss is nicer than the Big Boss. Doesn't make me feel like shit or helpless. Treats me decent when I'm answering to him."

The stitches are done and he's almost finished with her leg too now.

"Still a mobster but alright, I'll be your errand boy then."

The blackmail confession causes him to freeze. Her stealing he can deal with, especially if it's her own choice. But being forced to do it? No. He isn't going to let this slide.

There's a loud crack as the almost empty morphine bottle he's holding breaks in his palm. Thomas is fuming silently and his hands are shaking with rage. The fact that she's only a criminal because she's forced to should make him feel better not worse, but for some reason...he'd rather whatever she did be up to her. Maybe it's the remains of his mother's 'I steal because I want to attitude' but this blackmail her employer is doing rubs him the wrong way. And now that he knows, it's not going to be going on much longer.

"Robin?" He looks pissed off. She doesn't like seeing him upset.

Almost painfully as the drugs are starting to kick in she scoots herself up so she can take his hands. "It's okay. I was a thief before this.... I'd be a freelancer if it weren't for them."

She's tired from being hurt and bleeding so much. In a moment of utter vulnerability she leans her forehead against one of his upper arms. "I'll be okay. Please don't be mad."

	She had been washing up actually. He pants were on the ground and that shirt she was still borrowing had been rolled up. She had been trying to deal with the dried blood an her skin and had been checking to see how she was healing. Needless to say she is startled. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I'm wearing a bra and underwear. The shirt when not rolled up covers.... a great deal actually." She doesn't really get why he's so embarrassed. It's so weird. "Yes please. The stitches should be fine as I've done no real bending," she adds as she moves to sit so she can show him the stitches easier. She will wait until he's ready as to not startle him though.
