He takes an extra moment to follow the trail of the lacing and see where the knot is. He does it without thinking much really, then realizes what he's doing and forces himself to look up and check out the food.
"Nothing?" He picks up one of the hors d'oeuvres (these seemed to be the classic ones found at most parties) and pops it in his mouth then holds out one for her. "It's not bad actually."
