Thomas and Sarah- Meme- Angst- Seperation (AU)
She'd been gone for months without a word and with no way to trace her. Just vanished into thin air. Had it been anyone else he'd be mad that they could even pull that off without him finding them. But with her...well he'd admit he was more hurt than anything. If she was going to up and leave he'd expected...well at least a goodbye, or some note or something. Not just an empty place and no leads to follow.

Which is why she's the last person he expects to see when he drops by a supermarket in one of the smaller neighbourhoods on his way home. There's an initial moment of shock and then it hits him what she's buying and her...condition. He probably scares a few of the other customers by the way he stands there, eyebrow twitching in anger, and glaring daggers at the young woman innocently making her purchases.

He never makes it home. Instead he follows her, recklessly still in his civilian ID, as far as he can without alerting her to his presence to where she's staying. Still blinded by anger, he doesn't wait till it's completely dark and changes to Robin gear to sneak into her living room ahead of her.

A tall shadow looms behind Sarah's couch, eyebrow still twitching, as she enters.

"If you say so," she won't push him. She just got back and they have issues to work through. And she has to figure out if she might feel the way she did when she ran off.

And what she might actually want.

She has enough to deal with already, he's not going to pile more on. Retired or no, she didn't need to worry about The Batman, he'd deal with it.

And, unknowingly, he asks the thought on her mind, "What do you want Sarah? For...well everything I guess." The kid, the mob mess, the two of them, hell everything. Because he was feeling so lost right now and was trying not to show it.

"I need to find a way to get my mentor out of their hands. I don't plan on leaving the city but he may need to so I'll need to che... I need a plan. I don't know what his condition is." She looks bothered by that. Really bothered by that.

"I'll figure that out somehow." She has stopped touching him and just looks emotionally withdrawn. Not knowing what to do about her mentor really bothers her.

"And some of the other stuff.... don't know."

"Well...I was working on a plan for that but...you left." He stops and fishes through some compartments of his belt before pulling out a trinket he'd taken from her mentor when he'd found the man in the mob's care and knocked out on meds. "Here, was going to give this to you before..."

And that is just her sinuses. Obviously from the dust because this place has been shut up.

Right.

"Thank you," she can't help but kiss his cheek really quick and turns slightly so she can hide the 'allergic reaction'.

Oh dear he'd made her cry. He hadn't meant to...what to do now?

Gently putting an arm around her he pauses for a moment, trying to think of what to say that'll stop the crying, and says as gently as he can, "He's alive Sarah, it's okay. I checked on him for you just...he's okay alright? They didn't hurt him."

She can't believe she's tearing up. Damn hormones. Still she just hugs him again just glad to know that much.

"Thank you," she mumbles feeling very silly. "I.... don't usually get emotional like this. I swear it's the hormones. I can't even watch TV or I start giggling or crying over the dumbest stuff ever now."

She doesn't like it but she guesses it's okay for Robin to see her like this.

He pulls her in for a hug, somewhat desperate to stop the crying, he really hated seeing her cry.

"It's fine, don't worry about it." He gives her a weak smile and tries to cheer her up a bit, "Guess that means no horror movies doesn't it? We'll have to find something else for you to do." He honestly is assuming she won't be going out unless she has to. It's not safe after all.

"Besides setting up a nursery?" She glances back towards where her room and a spare room is. "I always wondered what I'd need that room for.... I need fresh paint though. I guess I can pick that up tomorrow... I need to get more supplies."

Oh yes baby stuff. That made it all seem so much more...real. It really hadn't sunk in properly yet for him. "Right. I'll come help you out." He may also have been planning on coming just to keep an eye on her. He hoped she wasn't going to run again, and he needed to keep her safe.

"Good thing you have me then I guess?" he says, giving her a cautious smile.

He seems to be contemplating something for a while before he finally makes his decision. "Sarah? You...can ask you know. Something about me I mean. I'll...try and answer if I can." She deserved something and it wasn't fair to her really, to be stuck with a guy who's name and face she didn't know along with...well she didn't know much about his life. The least he could do was to try.

"Mmm." She's trying to not be scary.

She bites her lower lip thoughtfully. Something that won't be difficult to ask that will let her know something about him. And also it has to be something he can answer.

"Is there a..... name I can call you? Besides Robin." She feels a little timid when asking this. But she had to ask it.

He doesn't try to pass it off as an alias. Not that he hadn't thought of doing that but...it seemed wrong to do so. And he couldn't help but think of her accusation that he didn't trust her. If this would convince her that he was here for her...then so be it. It was onlyhis first name.

Thomas is a nice name. That gets a slow smile from her and she kisses his cheek to thank him.

Sadly she's loosing her what, eighth wind? Something like that. He might feel her droop against him as she hasn't stopped hugging him recently.

He smiles a little at the kiss, glad she took that well. And he's not quite sure where they stand right now, he's sure they're both still a little mad at each other. But he doesn't know what she wants between the two of them. After this screwup of his...well he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want that, or any part of him really.

Gently he lowers he so her head is resting in his lap, she's clearly exhausted and he knows he didn't help with that. He stays like that for a bit before asking,"Anything else?"

She sleepily readjusted herself against him. Yes her head was still in his lap but so was one of her arms and her other was flopped uselessly across a pillow on the couch.

"Nothing I can think of. 'M tired," she mumbles. She'll think to ask about allergies in case they pass on to the baby.

"Alright, if you think of anything just ask. I'll do my best." He doesn't realize he's been playing with her hair until now and abruptly stops. It was so confusing trying to figure out where they stood now that she was back, hopefully it only got easier.

The funny thing is him playing with her hair helped her really start to doze off. Him stopping brought her back to being somewhat awake.

"Should lay down in my bed," she mumbles softly.

"Yeah...you should. You're going to be more sore tomorrow if you stay like this. Come on," he says as he carefully helps her up. This has been a long night. He needs space to think now, figure out what he's going to do.

Which is why he pretty much picks her up and puts her on her feet. Even like this she's still light enough he can do that. "First official night back in Gotham. You're not sleeping on the couch, especially not if I have a say."

That has her chuckle softly. She was glad he said that.

"Thanks." She toes her shoes off before she starts to sleepily move towards her bedroom. She's unsteady on her feet from being so tired. Part of her expects Thomas to hover just a touch.

After seeing the way she's walking he doesn't hover, he puts his arm around her and very nearly picks her up he's supporting so much of her weight. She wasn't going to be faceplanting on her floor on the first night.

"Looks like I'm going to be almost dragging you, I hope you don't do this every night."

"It'll get worse if I wake up from Morning sickness," she tells him in a soft quiet tone. She's starting to trust him again if she lets him get away with holding her like this as they go to her room.
