Thomas and Sarah- Meme- Angst- Seperation (AU)
She'd been gone for months without a word and with no way to trace her. Just vanished into thin air. Had it been anyone else he'd be mad that they could even pull that off without him finding them. But with her...well he'd admit he was more hurt than anything. If she was going to up and leave he'd expected...well at least a goodbye, or some note or something. Not just an empty place and no leads to follow.

Which is why she's the last person he expects to see when he drops by a supermarket in one of the smaller neighbourhoods on his way home. There's an initial moment of shock and then it hits him what she's buying and her...condition. He probably scares a few of the other customers by the way he stands there, eyebrow twitching in anger, and glaring daggers at the young woman innocently making her purchases.

He never makes it home. Instead he follows her, recklessly still in his civilian ID, as far as he can without alerting her to his presence to where she's staying. Still blinded by anger, he doesn't wait till it's completely dark and changes to Robin gear to sneak into her living room ahead of her.

A tall shadow looms behind Sarah's couch, eyebrow still twitching, as she enters.

	Oh yes she can detect signs of brooding. She blames herself really. She is glad though for the help. All of that food plus actually starting to feel tired again is going to make this next stop difficult. Thankfully they'll just be picking up white paint even if it still has to be mixed. 	"We'll hurry then." The whole drive there he just runs through scenarios of what he could have done differently. He hated regretting things, it went against Catwoman's Rule #32, but for some reason he just can't get over how stupid he feels he's been. They pull up to the store not long after. 	"Paint brushes and a pan for putting the paint into," she says softly while thinking it over. "And whatever else you think we'll need for doing the edges, I guess. 	"I'm not sure. I don't think it's something that we'd be able to get done today, even though the room isn't very big," she guesses as she climbs out of the car. "I'm just glad that the room is clear of that extra stuff. It'll make painting easier." Plus she really needed to hide some of the 'loot' she had. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Sarah have some frowning. "You shouldn't be painting. Especially considering you're sensitive to dust, imagine paint smell..." He will not be too pleased at finding loot, especially since he'll have to go return it all for her. Now where was the paint section of this store? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"It can't be that bad," she huffed though she appreciated that he thought of what would be comfortable for her.

She's hidden it in places he is unlikely to check. She's thinking of moving some of it though fences she knows who would be very quiet and professional about it. But right now it's risky because Robin will be watching her closely.

She sees brightly colored signs towards the back of the store then starts moving that way. Apparently there's a sale on power drills today so Sarah has to navigate her way around groups of men. She's glad Thomas is here because the men make her feel tense, especially the few who seem to be checking her out.

"It's best not to risk it, I can't stop you if you insist but...' He just sighs and hopes she isn't going to be stubborn about this.

Even through the sunglasses his glaring is very clear. And quite a few of the men instantly turn away, but a few of them are drawn into brief glaring contests. Of which he wins of course. Bat glaring was good for a lot.

Staring at the row of paint he mumbles, "Who knew there was so much choice in white paint?" Well living in an old manor meant they didn't do painting ever, or furniture building really. But at least he'd had enough experience building stuff in the bat cave that he wasn't worried about that.

"I can at least help you get the pan filled," she has grabbed a basket to fill with the brushes and edgers that they're going to need eyeballing them carefully.

She is very pleased that Thomas has scared the men off from looking at her. She's kind of shy right now because her confidence has taken a bit of a nose dive.

"Yeah." She's looking at the color pallets they have on display and points. "This is what we need. It matches the rest of my apartment. Can't believe they have to name it."

She starts to eyeball the cans of the brands of paint and goes to pick one up before thinking better of it. Not a good idea for her. "This one is what we want I think. Better get two cans, just in case. I don't think we'd use it but I'd rather have more than we need."

"Alright, I'll let you help," he finally smiles. Though it is a small one.

"Seriously, there are way too many shades of white. There's at least," he does a quick count, "32. Thirty two shades of white. This is ridiculous." He'd been thinking that he should run in here and buy all this stuff while she stayed in the car if she was too tired, but now he's glad that didn't happen. He'd be a little lost.

"We can always repaint one of your other rooms if you want. You have free labour here," he says as he goes to pick up the two cans.

See that just earns him a small grin from her. Good he can see reason.

"They're different. Some are almost yellow, then they fade out to being really really white. I'm going for the standard color they tend to use on most rental buildings. They call it 'Egg Shell'," she tries to explain. "Maybe.... later. If the paint really bugs me I want the option of fleeing."

An aging man in a smock at the mixing station greets them with a nod. Sarah points to the color on the pallet that she wants and he just nods at them with a grunt.

"It'll be ten minutes. Still mixing pain for someone else, ma'am," the older man drawls.

"I can see the difference between some of them but some are just overkill. I mean look at these two," he points to two of the shades right beside each other, "there's no real difference. How can someone be picky enough to care if you pick one over the other." He just sighs, this was silly.

There's a slow turn to meet her eye and a very serious look, "Fleeing?" He just doesn't like the reminder really that she had fleed. "I'll paint another room after we finish this one and there's enough paint left." Well at least he's going to make her place a little nicer.

"There's a difference in how it looks in the light," Sarah points out. "The shade is very close together but.... not really enough to make a huge difference, personally."

The way he looks at her when he says that has her almost visibly squirm. "You know. Go outside. Where I can't smell paint."

She appreciates all the help. Honestly she's sure on her own this would have taken much longer. She may have even had to charm a few people into helping her.

	Thomas shrugs, he really couldn't see the need for that many shades. Oh. Well maybe he was a tad sensitive about any running away terminology. "We'll open a windown." Strangers helping her paint? 	While they wait for the paint mixing Thomas makes sure he stands close to her so he can glare away any lost men looking for powerdrills who come this way. 	Well...he already somewhat did. This is just extra precautions to make sure people don't bother her. "Save it for another day then, when we're less likely to forget stuff." 	He really did look tired. Too bad she couldn't talk him into taking a nap. She really did wish that she could do that but she knew he probably wouldn't want to listen to her. And she needed a nap too. She still wasn't recovered from her trip back to Gotham. "Smart plan. Besides, I think we've done enough damage today and I'm not up for looking at other stuff." While their paint is being mixed he's considering not going on patrol tonight and deciding how suspicious that would be. He also needs to deal with the bank thing, start looking for doctors, and work out all sorts of little things. So much to do today alone, he wonders if he'll get any sleep tonight. Maybe a nap? Or he was going to go with the 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' idea.

	Turning his hand over so he can hold hers, he manages a smile. "Sure Sarah. I'll come." Likely not before noon this time though. "I'll drive you back once we pay and you can have your nap," he smiles. He wishes he could take one, just curl up and have a quick cat nap. That sounded so nice right about now.
