Date Night.
It was a lot like Mom and Dad's traditions, actually. Where Dad had used telegrams and faxes, she used e-mail. Vernique told Jordan that she'd be in the appropriate area that weekend and would like to have dinner, maybe some dancing.

He nods. "My innate x-gene. I was supposed to be a mimic, apparently, before Langowski messed with my birth mother's DNA. There was just enough left that my mother, Lillian, was able to save my life with a blood transfusion, because we're two of the maybe three dozen people on the planet with the blood type.

I pick it up best from mutants, but can do Atlantean hybrids... which are technically sort of mutants, and people with altered DNA, like the Fantastic Four, if I'm around them long enough. Its... a really minor thing though, regardless."

"Thanks. It's just... I love them. So much, but they're so...indoctrinated. And they'll never get away from that, and usually, I accept that as part of who they are and why I love them, but when I think about somebody taking the baby away if he has a behavioral disorder in kindergarten... did you know that they do that? They do that! That's where the 'berserkers' come from. You're... sentenced to it in preschool and that's all they know."

	And offer an arm he does. Then opens the door to the diner, where a few people even stop to stare. He informs the waitress that, yes, there's two of them, and yes, the limo will be waiting there.
