Work always came first. Not only was Andrew still a very dear friend, but what they were doing was too important to ever jeopardize with time spent on a relationship. And Julian understood that completely. She kept both of their confidences reliably, though she'd made it abundantly clear to Julian that if his ideas posed any threat to Andrew or to Genosha, love would not save him.

A few years later, during a rare visit to meet with his father, Julian revealed he had something else on the agenda.
"Mr. Bennet, I wish to ask for your daughter's hand."
