Because you don't know me and I felt guilty for asking such a personal question. I think you're really pretty and didn't, from my point of view, see anything wrong with them.

Did you actually get your breat reduction surgery? If you could, can I see a before and after shot? I'm really considering getting it too...

mhmm.. it was the best decision of my life :) I researched it for several years before I got one, so I prepared myself and found the best doctor possible.
as far as before and after shots, I have them but I'm still not allowed to wear bras so the after shot looks a bit smaller then it really it (because they are smushed down with Ace bandages and a wear medical bra thing to provide with some sort of support for me.) but you still get the jist.
here are photos:

before and after

I am very happy with it, but I recommend knowing exactly what you are getting into before you do it so that no part of the surgury is a surprise.

I hope that helps :) and good luck with whatever you decide to do :)

Hi. This is kind of random, but I heard you got breast reduction surgery and that it was covered by your insurance company. I was wondering if you would care you share your experience. I'm in a similar boat. I hope to meet with plastic surgeons for consultations and see if my insurance company will approve the procedure but don't know where to begin. So, I thought I would ask you about your experience. If you'd prefer we communicate through another medium, I can provide an email address. I just think it'd be reassuring to speak to someone who's been there and done that. Thank you! :)

Oh, and the only reason I posted anon is because I don't believe we've ever spoken, as I don't really use Scribbld. I think I just heard from word of mouth, crazily enough.

it's not a problem :) I can understand how the subject coud also feel very personal, so if you dont wish to reveal yourself I completely understand! I had wanted the surgery ever since I can remember, so I had a long time to do the research for it. The way I went about it was read articles and doctor reviews and I asked around personally about different doctors. (I live by Scottsdale, Arizona so almost everyone there at least knows someone who has gotten plastic surgery)
I narrowed my list down to just a few doctors that I read about and had heard amazing things from and I called each doctor on my list to make sure that they accepted my insurance so I could further eliminate the doctors who did not accept them. Afterwards I called my insurance plan to see if I met their specialized requirements to get the procedure covered (different plans require that you take different amounts out according to your weight and height and such because the only way they will cover it is if they deem your chest medically hazardous to your health.)
It turned out that I needed at least 750 grams taken out to meet their requirements, which I exceeded by an extreme amount. So I talked to each doctor, decided which one I felt the most comfortable with, got my insurance to preapprove, and everything was set.

The most important thing to do it make sure that the doctor you choose is licenced specifically for plastic surgery. By law, any doctor (no matter what they specialize in) can preform plastic surgery.. however I wouldn't trust it as much as someone who actually went to school to be a plastic surgen.

It was the best decision of my life, but I had years to prepare for it. Make sure to look up photographs of what the scars will look like right after the surgery so you know what you are in for. If you want the surgery more then you care about having the scars, I say go for it! Just make sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. :)

Sorry if that was just a crap load of info! lol
feel free toask me any additional questions you have at all about anything! :)

Thank you so much, really. It's really scary that all doctors CAN perform plastic surgery, so I'm definitely going to look for specialists in my area and call around. Do you know if there's a universal definition for "medically hazardous," or does it just depend on the individual person/insurance company? Also, how long did it take in all -- from contacting plastic surgeons to getting your surgery? LASTLY, what bra sizes were you before and after? Thank you again. Your advice is immensely helpful. I've emailed some plastic surgeons in my area and hope to meet for consultations and contact my insurance company soon. :)

haha, yea it isn't a very comforting fact, is it. As long as they are specially licenced for it then you should be good :) As far as universal definition, unfortunatly there is none. It all depends on your insurance and what plan you have. I was doing years of researching about it before I got mine (because I had to wait till I was done growing of course) but I think when it got down to the time to do it, it probably took me about 6 months.
I was originally a 36E and right now I am down to a 36D. I still have a bit of swelling, so I'm hoping they will decrease to a C (which is what I wanted), but they might not and I would still be ok with that. Unfortunatly they doctor took out so much tissue (over 1000 grams) that he was afraid to take out anymore and cause too much stress to my body.
I have before and after photos, however the after photo was taken directly after the procedure so I was still not allowed to wear bras and thus they look a bit smaller then they really look now (because they were smushed down with Ace bandages and I wore a medical bra thing to provide with some sort of support for me.) but you still get the jist.
here are photos:

before&after

well that was my experience in a nutshell.. I hope that I helped you out a bit and made you feel more comfortable with the surgery. I really has been one of the best choices I've ever made!

feel free to always come to me with any questions or concerns you have regarding the procedure and I will gladly answer to the best of my ability! And good luck with whatever you decide to do! I hope everything will work out for you :)
