Arti Family

The Arti are also an ancient family dating back to ancient greece, but unlike the Rics, their name changed little since then. They too started out as warriors, and kept their hand in it, but moved to more political dealings along with a criminal empire in later years. Over the centuries, the two families clashed often, both using their influence against one another. The Rics won a significant victory when they managed to get many of the Arti and their supporters executed centuries earlier during the wave of revolutions in Europe. Both sides took hits for that and while the Rics came out on top, they took a while to recover. Wanting to get back at them, the Arti layed low for a long time, slowly building themselves up again. They remained underground long enough and managed to steal influence with the English crime families while the Rics were preocupied with getting the spear of Ares. Through careful manipulation they managed to get the families to rebel against the Rics and even helped arm them. The resulting blood bath in London didn't prevent the Rics from obtaining the spear but did result in the death of Rics's father. Once it was discovered who was behind his father's death, Rics and his sister made it a mission to end the Arti once and for all, but slowly, they had all the time in the world now. Through the years they have crushed their plans, especially those involved in getting artifacts. The Arti themselves are bitter at the number of them the two immortals have killed, not to mention the artifacts they have stolen or tipped off the Guardians about anonymously. And they are certainly not happy that while their opponents are now fewer, their influence is still great and they are now immortal. The Arti have no problem tipping off or bargaining with bigger forces in order to get Rics off their tails, even if it comes at some cost to them. It'd be a small price to pay to get two immortals of their backs.

Their most prized possession is the cup of dionysus, any liquid once poured into it can make a person enter a frenzy briefly where they are suceptible to suggestions.
They also posses other artifacts but not as many as they once did, especially not since Rics gained immortality.

Surrounded by fools [29 Mar 2012|01:40pm]
Somewhere far from the prying eyes of most of the world, a young man surveys the carnage. Not with horror or disgust, but with a sense of bored detachment. The weaklings had given him no challenge. Not that he expected much, they were hired goons at best. But he wished one could walk into these places unarmed and hope for at least some entertainment, however small. Well, nothing to be done here now, the fool had been wrong. Again. There were no artifacts here.

Cold blue eyes slowly turn to bore into a shivering man standing in the corner. "I thought you said last time would be the final time this would happen."

"I-I swear I didn't know!"

"Yes. That's quite clear."

"Please sir, I'll find another one! Roussille might have heard about-"

He doesn't bother listening anymore. It was like this each time. Wild goose chases after rumours of artifacts. No, this imbecile had outlived his usefulness. The fool didn't understand. He wasn't looking to collect all the artifacts. No, only an idiot would want that. It attracted far too much attention. Not to mention that not all of them interested him or would prove useful. There were only a few he wanted for himself. The rest? Well, just because he had no use for them didn't mean he wanted others to have them. The guardians were useful in that sense but slow. Sometimes you had to do things yourself.

Sighing, he glances at the man rambling for a second chance. Without warning or another word, he snaps the man's neck and lets the body crumple to the ground.

He'd need to tell his sister this was another dead end. Hopefully some of the other informants could prove more useful. It had to be done, but it was annoying to replace them.

Time to find some new targets.
