1. Jai needed a date to prom in a hurry, and Wendi was the only girl nice and fast enough to say yes, buy a dress and show up on time.
2. They enjoyed each other's company throughout the evening, which Jai hadn't expected. He and Wendi knew each other, but didn't really /know/ each other.
3. Jai knew he wanted to go on date two after Wendi demonstrated her right cross to the mugger that tried to rob them.
4. Jai asked her to race him to Mexico, where they skipped rocks on the beach under the moonlight. Then, he ran her back home, as her speed was done for the hour.
5. He showed up at her class a week or two later with a Photoshopped picture of their Prom photo, asking if she'd like to go out again.
