1. The Hood and Spider-Woman hated each other the moment they met. Hood hated Spider-Woman's motor-mouth and Spider-Woman hated the Hood's willingness to kill anyone who got in her way. The epithets "Spider-Skank" and "Hoody Two-Shoes" rang out often across the New York night.
2. Conversely, May and Melissa were thick as thieves the first day they met, and found that they loved hanging out, discussing boys, school and the like.
3. Mel had never been attracted to a girl before, so she didn't know how to tell May what she felt. She tried pushing it down and ignoring it, but she couldn't. Eventually, she ended her friendship with May, deciding that May would never see her in that fashion and planned to leave New York after completing one last job.
4. Of course, Spider-Woman showed up and Hood decided that she wasn't going to leave without killing her enemy. Their fight bashed up a good part of Harlem and most of Soho, but in the end, Spider-Woman managed to stop the Hood, even after being shot twice.
5. Spider-Woman pulled back the hood and found Melissa beneath. She revealed herself to her friend, who admitted that she loved her, after all. The pair spent the better part of week laying everything on the table, but eventually, they realized that the important thing was how much they cared for each other.
Spider-Woman and the Hood haven't been seen since. May and Melissa, however, have been happy for a long, long time.
