Azkadellia A lost girl Found again... |
Name: Azkadellia
Story: Tin Man based on The Wizard of Oz.
Age: 25
Gender/Preference:
Appearance: PB: Kathleen Robertson
One of the first things to change about Az was her hair. She cut it shorter and started wearing it a bunch of different ways, all in her effort to figure out who she is as a young woman. She hasn't told anyone that there is still one mobat tattoo in the middle of her upper back (though so far as she knows she can't call the mobat forth from it). Since regaining control of her body she's started wearing loose sweaters, blouses and pants with comfortable shoes. She wears reading glasses, but hides this from others.
Personality: Azkadellia's personality is in flux. For a very long time she was trapped in her own mind by the witch, forced to listen to evil rhetoric while she had little or no control of her body. She's still trying to sort out which impulses are her own and which are left over from her imprisonment with the witch.
When she was a child she was very smart, learning things quickly. She was gifted at magic and was able to teach others the things she had learned. If she'd had control of her own life she might have become a tutor in her teens. If she'd been allowed to grow and flower she would have been a tremendous Queen.
Az mourns these lost opportunities to a degree, but she's steadily gaining control of her life again and sorting out just exactly who she is and what makes her tick.
Her maturity tends to fluctuate. At times she is very young, exactly as she was just before the witch possessed her. Other times she is much older simply because of her ordeal. It tends to shift depending on the situation. When she's with younger people she acts younger. When she's with older people she acts older.
Strengths: Smart. Quick learner.
Weaknesses: Not really sure who she is. She doesn't trust her instincts.
Quirks: - Has something close to a photographic memory, though her possession by the witch caused some amnesia (she recovered from most of it).
- Enjoys painting and drawing, though she hasn't picked a style she prefers.
- Likes to sleep in and take naps.
Secrets: - She wishes she could start her life over again, as if the witch had never taken over her body.
- She resents her sister for running away the day she was possessed, but would never tell her.
- She knows she can channel magic still (telekinesis), but she's terrified that it will attract dark magic and doesn't use it anymore (the only person who knows she's still capable is her sister).
Skills & Abilities: Decent rower. Excellent at skipping stones. Can learn languages very easily (she's not sure if this is a supernatural skill).
Supernatural abilities: Telekinetic magic. She can make objects move or repel them. She has refined control of this ability. When holding her sister's hand both girls can make a protective shield surrounding themselves. At present she doesn't use her talent at all.
History: Azkadellia was born the first daughter to the O.Z.'s queen. She had a nearly idyllic childhood with her mother and father and younger sister DG. The girls had their own tutor to groom them in the ways of magic and court life in the O.Z., preparing them for the responsibilities they would take on as adults. They had as much time to learn as they did to play and grow with each other.
Az was a particularly bright child, learning quickly and having an almost genetic knowledge of the old ways, the days before the O.Z. had a royal family. She had learned the ancient picture language without much help and could decipher the symbols without a rosetta.
Her bright childhood was cut short on a trip to Lake Finaqua.
While exploring a cave with her sister they stumbled unknowingly upon the prison of a great evil. The wicked witch, imprisoned there for all time had boded her time well. She saw the day when two young girls with untapped power would wander within her grasp.
The girls were safe so long as they held hands, the power flowing through them connected and became so much stronger when channeled through two bodies. But DG was frightened and released her sister's hand. Az being the stronger stayed behind to the face the witch, but was overpowered and consumed.
The witch now possessed Azkadellia and thus began a ten year long battle to regain control of her own body. This period of her life was littered with black outs, bleak moments of awareness without control, some rare moments of full control once the witch trusted her to fulfill her will, but mostly the never ending tyranny of the witch pressed against her mind.
Azkadellia was finally freed of the witch, saved by her sister holding her hand and pulling her free while the witch melted on her own doomsday device. The reunion with her family was tentative and wary. Az knew all of the horrible things the witch had done in her name; she couldn't tell them how complicit she'd been in the torture of her family and friends because she honestly didn't know.
Az emerged conflicted, troubled, and half-formed. She hadn't properly finished out her childhood without the witch's influence. In a lot of ways she was the 23 year old woman who had emerged from the horror, but in many other ways she was the 13 year old girl just before her possession.
She isolated herself from court life, allowing her little sister to become the people's cherished princess. Withdrawing further into herself Azkadellia tried to work through her trauma, still unsure of who she was and what her place was in this world.
Her mother noticed and suggested that she seek respite in Haven. Azkadee agreed and took to life in the city with surprising vigor. Here at last she could figure out who she wanted to be without the added pressure of her life in the O.Z.
