Bribery Prompt for the one and the only Ron.
“What is this?” Axe asked when Kendall dropped the bag in front of him.
“Spotted Dick.” he shrugged sitting down in the chair across from his soon to be former Captain who was eyeing the bag with great suspicion.
Axe lifted the edge of bag with a finger peering inside. Kendall rolled his eyes as he took a sniff. “You don’t share your food.” He said finally with some sort of accusatory tone. “What is wrong with it? Is it poisoned?”
Kendall leveled an unimpressed look at Axe. Perhaps he should have poisoned it. “Seriously?
Poisoned? No. It’s perfectly fine. But you are absolutely right, I don’t share
my food. This is
your food.”
Axe looked between Kendall and the bag, clearly trying to decided if Kendall was telling the truth. He pulled out the container, lifting the lid slightly and smelling it again. “You don’t bring me food. Why are you bringing me food?” He asked dipping his finger into the dish tasting it. “And where did you get this?”
“Well I wanted to talk to you.” Kendall said settled into the chair across from Axe. “What? I made it. And no, it is still not poisoned.”
Axe froze mid bite, suspicion returning ten fold. “You
made this?” he asked now poking the pudding with a frown. “
And you want to talk to me? Are you
dying?”
Kendall rolled his eyes yet again. So dramatic. “Don’t even bother trying to tell me its not good now that you know I made it, because its delicious.” Axe wrinkled his nose in the way he did he didn’t want to admit that someone else was right. “And I’m not dying. Sheesh.” They had a short staring contest before Axe finally gave in and grabbed a fork and taking an official bite.
“Well,” he said with a mouth full of custard, tired of waiting for Kendall to speak up. “You wanted to talk?” He gestured with his fork to go on.
“I’mleavingtheKestrels” Kendall spoke quickly unsure of how else to go about it.
“What?”
“I’m leaving the Kestrels.” He repeated again, shifting slighlty in his seat, readying to flee if need be. “The Wanderer’s approached me earlier---”
“Mon dieu! You
are dying.” Axe interrupted putting his fork down. “This is sympathy spotted dick. I don’t want your pity pudding.”
“I am not dying. Leaving the Kestrels does not equate dying,” Kendall cut in exasperated, but Axe wasn’t having it.
“The
Wanderers. Dying. Same thing.”
“Hey hey! The Kestrels weren’t all that when you took over.” he bit out getting a bit annoyed folding his arms over his chest. “Anyways, I thought you’d rather hear it from me than the paper or whatever.” Kendall was most definitely not pouting.
Axe stared at the half eaten dish, seeming to be truly disappointed that he had been tricked into eating it. “Take over?” he repeated after a moment.
“Yea. They want me to captain.” Kendall told him with a small shrug.
Axe nodded slightly, thinking this over. “Okay, maybe not dying,” he allowed picking up his fork again. “Definite flesh wound though.”
