Keywords: "I BALANCE" The Slytherin Libra; This combination of sun sign and House ought to be nicknamed "The Magical Corps of Diplomats." Slytherins born under this sign are poised, polished, suave, well read, well bred, and excruciatingly polite and correct in everything they do - the perfect gentry of the magical world. Never a bully or a bravo here! No, these Slytherins would say "I despise you and think your are worthless scum" and make it sound like "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways..." They are discreet, sympathetic, easy to talk to, and know how to put people at ease. This can, of course, be a wonderful asset in espionage (the flip side of diplomacy!) and these Slytherins are more than capable of hiding their true feelings in order to get information or befriend a rival. Because they need to act in partnership with others and hate to be alone, they are rarely decision makers, and must be careful who they seek to befriend, lest they be led astray into the wrong crowd. Slytherin Libras also ought to marry into money if they don't have much of their own, for their love of luxury and culture can make for extremely high maintenance expenses.

h i s t o r y Augustus was born in Austria, second child of three and only son. Heir to the Borgin name and lifestyle, Augustus grew up spoiled but still the leader and natural protector of his sisters. He was spared much of the distress and trauma of being brought up by a strict purist mother and English father by their mysterious deaths in 1966. Saorise was already at Hogwarts, so Augustus and Octavia were sent to live with their uncle, Dalbhach Eadbhárd Borgin (commonly known in England as Edward), in London.
As a consequence, Augustus and Octavia grew up very close. He never really trusted his uncle and tried to refrain from being in the same room with him, alone, since Augustus was the heir and Edward was his uncle, without any heirs or real inheritance of his own., even though Edward had never been violent or angry toward either of them. His first year at Hogwarts was probably the most stressful, being worried about Octavia living alone with their uncle. Before leaving, Augustus made sure one of their house-elves would follow her around, the entire time. When she arrived at Hogwarts, and was sorted into Slytherin, he felt much better and able to protect her better. Instead of going into the ministry like some of his roommates, he followed in his father's footsteps as an artifact collector, but allows his uncle to keep the store.
Because of his roommate and family connection, there wasn't a question that Augustus would join the Dark Lord's army as a Death Eater, but he refrains from actually participating in chaos creating and death unless it's absolutely necessary. Augustus finds specialty items for use and destruction, especially antique books and potions recipes. His day is currently spent going through old things, buying items from auctions and selling them to collectors or for use to other Death Eaters, keeping his sister from embarrassing their whole family and trying to find a suitable husband for Octavia.
p e r s o n a l i t y Augustus is very formal and very precise with his actions and words. He is the heir to the family and since his parents' very upsetting deaths, he's been the man of the house. He's very respectful of the order of the world and toward women in general. Augustus is very prudish and while he has had female consorts, he's not one to chase skirts or find himself in situations with them.
While he's not completely manic about purism, out of the three siblings, Augustus pays much more attention to who they're aligned with and tries to keep Octavia from embarrassing them. She doesn't seem to want to settle down anytime soon, and neither does Augustus. He feels that he's not old enough to take on the responsibility of his own heirs, until he's gotten his sisters taken care of the right way and to suitable people. To Augustus, family is the most important. Loyalty to your family is above all else, and he will fight to the last for his sisters. |
