BIOGRAPHY:
Personality: Madalene, or Maddy to close friends and family, is vivacious and exuberant. She has a tendency to be a bit serious at times but mostly likes to learn and research and have fun. She embraces live as much as she can, even if it is an undead life because she feels she was given a second chance, to be independent and not live under societal rules.
She was spoiled as a child and young woman, but what titled girl of that time wasn't. Through the years she has grown out of that a good deal, though she does miss that age, she has embrace the 21st century and all it's geeky techs and whistles. As if being a vampire isn't enough, Maddy is also quite computer savvy; she is never without her laptop or cellphone, and has been known to do 'independent' work of the computer hacking kind.
Maddy is loyal to her friends and doesn't make them too easily as she is cautious. But deep down she is still the young girl she was before she was a vampire.
History: In the age of the Industrial Revolution, the age of court intrigue and the middle of Queen Victoria's reign, Madalene Rose Armytage was born on July 4th, 1874. She was the 1st daughter and third child born to the David Armytage, Marquess Kirklees and his wife, Lady Annabelle Christianson. Maddy has two older brother, Lord Nicholas, Earl Avonshire, and Lord Devon, 7 and 4 years older respectively.
She grew up privileged and wanting for nothing. The family spend most of the year in London and winter and summer breaks at their country estate. Like most English children of the time, they had governesses and each was taught their duty and their roles in life. Nicholas would become Marquess someday and Devon was destined for the military. And Maddy, she was to be the star of the family, the apple of her father's eye.
When she was finally 16, coming out into society started. She wasn't quite old enough yet to do a full season but a few outings here and there was allowed. And Maddy loved it. She loved watching people and watching them interact. She also realised as she watched other girls, that she didn't want what they seemed to want. Maddy wanted to travel to see the world. She didn't want to get married and be the wife, have children. But how could she tell her parents, it would devastate her mother. In 1892, Maddy had her official season. She went to Paris and charmed everyone. She was polite and did everything she was supposed to do. But she also found ways and reasons to not get proposed to or married. And then came the London season, and Lt. Colonel Lord Brandon Dillingham, who was blonde, tall and very dashing. Just the kind of person who pretty much pushed away all Maddy's thoughts of not getting married.
But her family didn't like it. The military was all good for their son, but not for the husband of their daughter. But Maddy fought for it. She was stubborn and opinionated, and finally got her way, and Brandon proposed to her, and she happily accepted.
But as things do happen, Lt. Col. Dillingham and his unit were called away to duty before they could be married, and he was not to return. He was killed in northern Africa. Maddy was devastated and took this chance to leave home, to tour Europe. For almost two years she saw the cities of Western Europe, returning home every so often to see her family. And when the talk of finding her a husband came up again, Maddy left once again. She traveled to the French and Italian Riviera and sailed around the Cape, and spent a year in the Caribbean.
And then it was 1898, almost the end of a century, and Maddy came home to London once again, but she wasn't the same. She was sick, something she'd picked up in the islands, but she kept it from her family. She didn't want them to worry. And that is when she met him. Alexander Iero. Tall dark and handsome to start. Charming and dashing. Maddy was smitten and maybe it was because she knew she was sick, or because it has been so long since Dillingham, but she let herself feel again.
Once she found out who he was, or more precisely what, Maddy didn't resist when he bit her. She was too young to die, she wanted so much more. The world he showed her was nothing like she'd seen before. They traveled around for years, making their way to the states and everywhere they went, Madalene learned and studied the world around them. Alexander taught her about being a vampire and how to survive in the changing world.
Madalene knows that she has family, both descendants of her brothers and cousins, but also her blood family, though she's yet to ever meet the latter. After so many years of travel and seeing the world, Maddy grew weary and wanted to rest for a time, settle in, let the world stop even for a small moment. She found herself in Asia, specifically Nepal and Hong Kong, with time in Calcutta. There she found the spirituality that had been missing for so long. She embraced Buddhism and adapted to her life. She would not regret her decision to be what she was, a vampire, and though she drank the blood of humans, she only fed on the innocent ones when it was the last resort.
Investing well, knowing where to keep her money and stockpile it aided Madalene who's wealth far surpassed that of her families and their ancestors. It allowed her to be carefree, to study with the monks in Tibet, to learn to fight and being tenacious enough to master Aikido, Kungfu and Kungchido, a mix of Kungfu, Taichi and Karate-Do. She remained through the 60s before moving onto the States.
She kept track of Alexander through the years, occasionally letting him know her whereabouts but they have not seen each other in many, many years now. Maddy was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and was caught feeding at a 'vampire club', her favourite place to go in this modern age. But the government caught wind and she is being transferred to Alaska
