Insula De Virsta: Nghrau Tribe History
One of the very first vampires of all time went by the name of Edgar. He was the first vampire created by the Rapithwin's to survive and thrive after the women discovered that these soul-deficient creatures required the consumption of blood.

They are immortal. A vampire's body isn't fully alive and one must feed on blood to stay alive (vampires also cannot eat 'normal food'). They can actually go into sunlight although it is rarely ever done due to uncontrollable, rapid aging (i.e. about an hour in the sun is the equivalent to aging one year). This aging occurs because being in sunlight gives into the idea that the concept of a day exists, which means time exists, which therefore means an individual ages.

Vampires are abnormally, physically strong and quite fast. They can also fly because, it is said, they are not weighed down by a soul. But vampires do not fly a lot because this is when a vampire is most vulnerable. Their skin is pale and cold to the touch. Their pupils are always black and will turn blood red when they are hungry and can hunt by scent alone.

All three women fell in love with Edgar, and Edgar could feel love for another as well because these first forms of vampire still had a piece of their soul within them. His feelings toward the three women formed an odd relationship but he only truely loved Rapithwin. With that (and other problems between the three) he and Rapithwin escaped to the island to be together and to escape the war between the Gods.

When Rapithwin and Edgar could no longer be together, he was left on the island alone when she left to venture back to the outside world. At this point, the evil Rapithwin had created more vampires, these ones completely soul-less, and sent one (Ioana) to kill Edgar and Rapithwin out of jealousy.

When Ioana arrived to the island she discovered that Edgar was alone. For some reason she couldn't find it in herself to kill him and did not fulfill her task. In turn she stayed on the island, naturally because she did not want to return to the evil Rapithwin without having killed Edgar and Rapithwin. Thinking that what she felt was love, when really she just sought companionship (something consistent between vampire to vampire), the two eventually became partners.

Upon Rapithwin's return, Edgar and Ioana's relationship slowly deteriorated. Ioana sought new companionship - Norton (and Norwood inadvertently) - to make Edgar jealous. These two were both creations of Ioana's, completely soulless due to them being turned into vampires and not created as vampires.

When Rapithwin and Edgar gave birth to two boys, it pushed Ioana over the edge and she, Norton, and Norwood killed Edgar. Rapithwin was unable to prove that Ioana had been the one to kill Edgar and could not seek revenge without the rest of the island disapproving.

Ioana blames Edgar's death on the Kouzelheks and has stuck to that story ever since. Ioana, Norton, and Norwood have lived, for years, on the island ever since.

After the Kouzelheks aged the twin sons of Rapithwin and Edgar, Rapithwin hid them on the island. Rapithwin asked Victor (like Edgar, one of the original vampires created by the three Rapithwins) to come to the island to help her in hiding the boys and specifically for him to take care of Owen. Victor and Own then both pose as vampires from the mainland.

Owen has no memory of who he is (as well as his brother Daevas) and believes that he came from the mainland with Victor. The other two members, Aina and Abel, were witches that turned their backs on their tribe to join the vampire tribe.

This is the point at which the vampires are at the present moment. They live in the Midnight cliffs on the western edge of the island, mainly because they can hide best from the sunlight in the caves. They don't communicate with other tribes except at tribal meetings, that they do attend (usually by Victor). Ioana would claim to be the tribe's leader, though the rest of the island recognizes Victor as their leader.

The Nghrau tribe is:

Ioana Ovidiu: Currently she has been a member of the Nghrau tribe the longest.

Norton Peregrine: He is Ioana's companion and brother to Norwood. Norwood and his brotherly love for one another is the only human quality left within them.

Norwood Peregrine: Norwood is very much afraid of Norton but still thinks very highly of him and could not imagine life without him. Norwood follows whatever Ioana and Norton want him to do. Norwood has discovered that his companion is Abel, the newest Nghrau member and ex-witch.

Victor Monroe: Victor and Edgar go way back, back before even Ioana came into the picture. They were old friends and Victor was infuriated to hear that his dear friend had been murdered here on the island. This news struck a sore spot; Victor had lost his lover not too long before running into Rapithwin again and was more than willing the second time she asked him to come back to the island for her (to protect Owen).

Owen Everson: Owen doesn't know that he is Rapithwin and Edgar's son or that Daevas is his brother. He does not agree with many of the decisions Ioana makes and tries his best to keep his distance from most of the tribe, with the exception of Victor.

Abel Ghislain: Abel is the youngest of the vampires and former witch. He came to the Nghrau tribe with Aina Swane, also a former witch. His parents died when he was young and the family was very close with Aina and Claudette. The sister's raised him but he was much closer with Aina. It came to no one's surprise that he left with Aina, although it was quite the shock that of all the tribes, the two joined the vampires.

Abel and Norwood have some sort of love affair going on, though Abel doesn't know how much he can trust the young Peregrine.

Lucas: aligns more with Ioana.

West: is something on an outcast.

Aina: is West's progeny.

Availability: Yes, but only a few more. It will probably be important to determine who in the tribe "made" the new member.
