PERSONALITY;

The Sorting hat hesitated for a few seconds before sending Emmeline into Ravenclaw. Underneath the cold exterior her stuffy, pureblood parents had forced upon her, Emmeline always had a good heart and a kind conscience. Her patience needed work on, but it was her brilliance that sent her to Ravenclaw. She's fiercely loyal to people she considers friends, and those are few and far between. Emmeline doesn't trust easily, so when she does, it's for life and will feel the hurt of a betrayal for months, years.

She's prone to panic attacks, but was very bad at controlling them in her early Hogwarts years when all her problems had to do with were essays and exams. Now with having managed to live through the war, any form of anxiety is usually handled in long bouts of silence, or furious writing so to not relieve her stress on anyone else.

INSIGHT
From the beginning, Emmeline didn't fit in. Her father had wanted a son to carry on the family name, and her mother, who was still in Hogwarts when she was married and became pregnant, refused to have more than one child. She gave birth to a girl, and the strained relationship between both of Emmeline's parents began. Treated like a small adult for all of her life, she found Hogwarts a relief; she felt more mature than her classmates, but was allowed to be the child she was without the glares or harsh words of her parents. Emmeline excelled in all of her classes, Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts in particular.

During her fifth year she met a Gryffindor named Ben Fenwick and her life was forever changed. He was the first boy to take notice of her in that way, and Emmeline was immediately smitten by his charm and how nice he was. He was also best friends with her second cousin, Frank Longbottom, and through Ben the two nearly estranged cousins began a friendlier relationship that would lead into a sibling-like bond. Her time with Ben was rocky, but fun, and it wasn't until she defended an enemy of his that Ben's true nature. Their breakup was messing, and their short-lived reunion was disrupted by the death of his family, forever severing all ties.

Her breakup with Ben was not the most important thing in the middle of her sixth year, however. That December, her cousin Frank and James Potter were kidnapped by Lord Voldemort, with no evidence to where they may be. This prompted Albus Dumbledore to officially assemble the Order of the Phoenix, with Emmeline being invited because of her desire to help Frank. She didn't know it then, but joining the Order would completely change her life as she knew it. Frank and James were found nearly a month later, but Emmeline's need to fight in this war didn't wane and she kept pursuing the Order's initiative.

Any boys she saw for a while never lasted very long, or left her feeling as if she'd done something wrong. It wasn't until Caradoc Dearborn, a boy who Emmeline had been infatuated with since childhood, started outlandishly flirting with her. She couldn't deny that his actions weren't welcome, but Emmeline was still surprised when Caradoc surprised her on her doorstop with a heart stopping kiss when he thought she'd been poisoned. In a whirlwind few days, she found out that during the entire time he'd been a member of the Order, he'd also been forced to take the dark mark, and was working as a spy for Dumbledore. Emmeline had apparently garnered a target on her back, and Caradoc was to pretend that he was seducing her to get close.

For the most part, he was really just seducing her because he wanted to.

They had a few happy months with Order missions and Hogsmeade snogging until everything went to hell. Grayson Wilkes demanding Caradoc kill Emmeline, and when he refused the death eaters forced a fierce attack on the Order. Dorcas Meadows was captured, and in exchange for her they were asking for Caradoc. Emmeline was forced out of the battles and after the final strike found that Caradoc had disappeared. A few weeks later his body was found and the hole in Emmeline's heart was permanently severed open. It took her months to really get back out into the world, and just as she was finally finding some sort of normalcy, she happened to be in a train station when a familiar face appeared in the crowd.

Caradoc had managed to escape certain death with the help of his death eater uncle, and Dumbledore. He'd been on the run, but had come back to help the Order, and now that they were reunited Emmeline was sure to never let him out of her sight again. The only people who knew of his return were the Goldsteins and after the fall of Voldemort, they eventually told the Longbottoms. Emmeline and Caradoc decided to move to the States so that Caradoc wouldn't have to live in hiding, but before they could finalize their plans, a horrific attack on Frank and Alice Longbottom left the wizarding world, and Emmeline, completely stunned.

Her cousin, the big brother she never had, was now bound to a hospital bed for the rest of his life. The healers tried to remain optimistic, but soon it was clear that there was no fixing what had been done to Frank and Alice. His mother had taken custody of Neville, forbidding any Order members to see him for safety precautions. Emmeline had lost the only family she'd ever had and it was months before her move to New York with Caradoc managed to break her out her seemingly impenetrable depression.
