It never has fuck you Brad! Oh, woe is me I had my heart broken two bloody years ago and I still can't get over it Oh poor you with your wife and your unborn son and amazing job, I feel so. bloody. BAD. So sorry that I think keeping you out of the goddamn Order's business will keep you alive long enough to see your son and grow old with your wife, because some of us can't do that with the ones we love because guess what? The Order fucking KILLED THEM. SO FUCK YOU AND YOUR HIGH AND MIGHTY ATTITUDE AND I HOPE YOU GO FUCKING FALL DOWN A SEWER AND LEAVE ME ALONE AND STOP REMINDING ME ABOUT HOW SHITTY OF A PERSON I AM OKAY BECAUSE I GET IT

I FUCKING GET IT AND I HATE YOU FOR IT SO GOOD. DON'T FUCKING TALK TO ME ANYMORE.

Brad? As in Bradley Madley? Oy.

Okay, just...start from the beginning. What happened that suddenly made him think you're an untrustworthy liar?

Ugh. I made some stupid comment about hating Jugson and wanting to kill him (but not---I don't honestly because that would make Anneliese-) but then Brad kept going on like it was a possibility as if he for some reason was okay with just---killing Anneliese's husband! He actually said she'd get over it! And I'm not even sure if that's what he really meant, but I told him no it wasn't even a possibility because of Anneliese and I was just like 'I'm just jealous' to try and explain things and--

Oh hell,

Brad: Right, with the lies again. Nothing changes, does it?

Me: How about I just stop talking to you and you won't have to deal with any lies?

Brad: If that makes you feel better, then do it. I don't know what happened to make you think you couldn't trust me.

Me: Believe me Brad, it's got nothing to do with you.

Brad: It never has.

ALL RIGHT. SO AT THIS POINT, I was talking about the ORDER, but then he goes and gets all fucking emotional and unable to let things go and so I got mad at and said Merlin they need to invent a spell to copy written--

Me: Yes, actually, you're right.

Brad: I've pretty much always known that, and it never bothered me, because I still trusted you and expected to be treated as a friend. Now I'm not sure if I can trust someone who can't even give me that in return.

WHO SAYS THAT? HE HONESTLY BELIEVES I NEVER CARED ABOUT HIM! LIKE I'M SOME HEARTLESS BITCH!

Keeping all of this a secret is stressful enough without the guilt trips.

I don't even know what to tell you, Em. If he doesn't see that you're someone he can trust, than there's really no point in even trying to get back on his good side. You're one of the most trustworthy people I know. He doesn't know it, but you're treating him as a friend by not making him a part of all of this.

That is exactly what I wrote out angrily and then scratched out in rage.

Ugh.

When are you getting married?

Yeah, I can usually tell you're in a rage when you cross out full paragraphs of writing.

Whoa, what? When am I getting married?

You are not allowed to keep bringing that up!

Explain to me how that's related at all to the conversation we're having right now.

It's not, I'm changing the subject entirely because I'm tired of talking about it.

So?

So that's what you change the subject to?

Do you want me to have an anxiety attack?

You're killing me here, Em.

Ugh.

Fine, fine...we'll talk about that, but just know that you are supporting my neurotic tendencies by starting this conversation. I feel like I need to give some sort of disclaimer if you're really insistent about continuing on with this topic.

You're acting as if we're discussing Voldemort or something.

Well. Have you thought of how you'd like to do You-Know-What? Do you have a ring? I can help you find a ring, I'm very good with jewelry.

........

You know, it's amazing, that you can write his name, but yet the word 'propose' gets a 'you-know-what'.

Getting back to the point...I've definitely thought about it, but everything I think of doesn't seem right. I mean, there's so many ways a guy can You-Know-What, and I know Eliza probably doesn't care how I do it, but it's a big bloody deal!

I don't have a ring, no. My parents has been bugging me about proposing ever since I told my them Eliza was pregnant...which, I mean, that's understandable, since the whole kid thing is supposed to come after a wedding.

I think they want me to give her the family ring.

I thought it would help cease any oncoming heart attacks!

I think that's sweet, about the ring! Mackenzie sent me the ring Caradoc had to give her when they were betrothed It's a family ring it's really-- I think that's really sweet, actually.

You should put it in a book and when she gets to the end of a chapter the words are all different and start talking about your story and then tied to the bookmark is the ring.

Well...I haven't had one yet, so maybe your strange and twisted plan was pretty brilliant after all.

Hah, yeah. I'm not against the idea, and my parents are really big on tradition, but if it's bad now, when I haven't even asked to have the ring yet, I can only imagine how many times a day I'm going to be owled, asking if I've asked her yet.

Wow. I actually never would have thought of that. It's a brilliant idea, it really is...but I kind of want to think of something on my own, you know? Besides...I don't even know if Eliza has the attention span to get to the end of even one chapter, nowadays.

I mean, I don't mean that as a bad thing, but...you know how she is on a good day, so just imagine how she is when she has a million other things on her mind.

Maybe you should ask her before you have the ring, and then you can ask your parents for the ring and not have to deal with the annoying owls?

Hm. In my perfect little world Caradoc would have---probably not proposed ever, what am I even saying I think less is more.

That's sort of what I've been working on... It's much easier said than done.

I don't want to do anything too over the top, but my nerves keep making me choke up whenever I even think about asking her to marry me. The last thing I want is to try and pull off something romantic, like hiding the ring in the bottom of a champagne glass, and have her not notice it and choke.

You know me better than most, so you know that the possibility of something like that happening to me is not too far fetched. I have no luck when I need luck the most, it seems.

I can't lie, you just made me choke on my drink from laughter.

Maybe it'll just hit you one day, how to do it. You two seem to do a lot of things by accident.

True, you're laughing at my horrible yet hypothetical misfortunes, but at least you're laughing. I'll take what I can get.

Hah! Yeah, that's one hell of an accurate observation.
