CLASS: Middle Class. The Daly's aren't rich, but they aren't poor, either. They make enough to get by and Ellie doesn't want for things she needs, but she doesn't have a ton of luxuries, either. Socially, Ellie isn't as popular as her twin, but she does have a fair number of friends. She's definitely not as popular with the guys as Emma is, though. Not in the same way, at least.

Kyle: Big Brother. Over-protective, but Ellie doesn't mind. She's really close to Kyle.
Emma: Identical twin. They're best friends. Completely inseparable, but very different.

ACTIVITIES: None. She tried out for cheerleading her freshman year, but broke her ankle during tryouts and decided maybe the universe was trying to tell her something.
APPEARANCE: Delicate and petite with wavy blonde hair and bright blue eyes, she stands at 5'1 and weighs 120 lbs. Ellie's style of dress is a bit more relaxed and casual than Emma's, which is one key way you can tell the girls apart. She doesn't wear very much makeup (usually a hint of blush and some lip gloss) and her clothing tends to be simple, but not horribly casual. She doesn't follow style trends AT ALL. She blushes when she's nervous or embarrassed, which happens almost anytime she's paid a compliment and her smile is generally very sweet and innocent.

DETAILED PERSONALITY: Quiet. Studious. Responsible. Sometimes Ellie thinks that means she's boring, but she really doesn't know how to be any other way. She's practical and she recognizes the importance of academics over fun and partying. She genuinely enjoys her schoolwork most of them time and she's definitely seen as the nerdier and more reserved of the twins.
Sometimes, she hates that about herself, though. Ellie is a romantic at heart, even if she was never as boy-crazy as her twin growing up. She wants to fall in love and get married and have her own family someday, but she doesn't think she's the kind of girl boys are drawn to. She tries not to let it get to her most of the time, instead focusing on her studies and on being a good sister and friend, but sometimes she wonders if she should change, become more like Emma, if she ever wants someone to love her the way boys love her sister.
As if being hopelessly boring wasn't enough, Ellie is a complete and utter klutz. The girl has two left feet and she could honestly trip over her own shadow. Forget dancing or cheerleading or anything even remotely athletic. Those things have always been Emma's forte and Ellie learned at an early age that she needed to stay far away from anything that required any amount of coordination.
She's not very experienced with boys, either, and tends to be a little awkward around them, especially if it's one she kind of likes. She's never really had a boyfriend, never really had any experiences like that with guys. It seems to Ellie like she's always in the "friend-zone" while the boys chase after Emma. She doesn't blame her sister for that, though. She knows she's just not the sort of girl guys want and she's mostly okay with that. There's more to life than boys and dating, after all!
HISTORY: Ellie is the elder of the Daly twins - by about 8 minutes - but sometimes it feels more like 8 years. Regardless of vastly different personalities, though, Ellie is closer to her twin than anyone else in the world. The two have been inseparable since birth and that hasn't changed a bit, not even after Emma got married. They could sooner cut off a vital body part than live without the other.
The twins are the youngest members of the Daly family, preceded by an older brother named Kyle who is far too protective of them. Ellie loves her brother to death, of course. She doesn't see his protective side nearly as often as her sister does and she doesn't really mind it, either. It's nice to know her brother cares so much about her.
Ellie's parents both grew up in different parts of the midwest and met when they were at college at UCLA. The pair married while her father was still in law school and Ellie's mom ended up working at a small bookstore to help pay off her own student loans. It turned our that a BA in literature wasn't good for a whole lot else and she really enjoyed it. Once the Daly's relocated to Chicago, she opened up her own shop. The store is moderately successful - not so much to make them rich, but it helped to provide for the young couple while they were starting out and it helps supplement their income now with a little extra.
Once he finished law school, Mr. Daly found a job with a practice in Chicago and it wasn't long after that when they were expecting their first child. A few years or so after that, the twins were born and by then their father was a fairly successful lawyer. He wasn't rich by any stretch of the imagination, but they did well enough to provide for their children and live a fairly comfortable life.
Ellie and Emma have always been inseparable, even if their attitudes about school and boys don't always mesh. Ellie has always been the more serious of the two, concentrating on her studies and maintaining near-perfect grades while Emma has always been the more social of the two. They balance one another out well, though, with Emma dragging her sister to the occasional party, forcing her to have fun, and Ellie making Emma sit down and actually do her own homework from time to time. It's a system that works well for them, for the most part, even if Ellie is occasionally envious of her sister's carefree attitude and long line of potential boyfriends.
They're about to start their senior year of high school and true to form, Ellie has spent her summer pouring over college catalogs while Emma goes to parties and lounges by the pool. Despite their differences, though, they've also found plenty of time for shopping and other twin-bonding activities.
