Brief Summary: Dinah's personality was blessed with all the things that greater powers had seen fit to leave out of her brother's. She looks for the brightest things in life, and is far more focused on having fun than she is on doing anything remotely productive. Open and affectionate with anyone who comes her way, Dinah is at her happiest when she's standing in the center of a group of laughing people. She loves attention. If she has to make an ass out of herself to get it, then so be it. Just under that outward layer of goofy is the part of Dinah that if firmly 'artist'. Though she rarely focuses on one wayward goal at a time, she has her moments of fierce passion. If she does manage to get wrapped up in something, she'll forget the important stuff like eating and sleeping. The majority of the time, it's impossible to get her to follow the train of a single conversation, but when it comes to her art, she's oddly focused. Her general inability to pay attention touches nearly every part of her life. If she's not stumbling over her own feet, she's locking her keys in her car, or leaving her wallet in her pants while she does the laundry. Dinah also has a very unfortunate habit of walking away with stuff that isn't hers. She's banned from one of the stores in town because she forgot that the lipstick she was holding wasn't actually hers before sticking it into her purse. Too bad security didn't believe that story. It used to take lot of anger Dinah. Some people would have said that it was impossible, even. That's changed recently. With the on-set of her powers, and the information she's been passed about her brother and boyfriend, Dinah has become something of a loose cannon. When she does get pissed, things start flying. It's not a pretty sight. She no longer sees fit to bottle up her emotions. Which would be fine, normally, but the magnetism makes her outbursts kind of violent.
Brief Summary: By the time Dinah was born, the Lehtner family had already been blessed by four healthy children. They'd sworn that they'd stop once they finally had a boy, but four years after they had little Asher, the urge for another kid struck again. Enter Dinah Marie. Her childhood was somewhat hectic, though not nearly as bad as it could have been. Despite the fact that there were five children running rampant (the youngest of them appalingly energetic at best), life in the Lehtner household may not have always been quiet, but it was certainly normal. There was the usual run of broken toys and fights, yet it managed to stay somewhat boring. Dinah's older sisters and brother were mostly well behaved. The outright mischeif making was left to her. One of the perks of being the youngest, one she used often, was that it was easy for her to squirm out of serious trouble. At least, with her parents. Other's weren't so accomodating. It became apparant early on that Asher had sapped the last of the intellegence genes. Dinah was diagnosed with a learning disorder and stamped with the 'remedial' label before she'd left elementary school. She was constantly getting stuck in special classes. At first, she'd hated it. Other kids treated her like she was stupid or something. She found her solstice in art. Art didn't demand any reading or math or any of that junk. Her new hobby didn't help her grades any, since she was often found doodling rather than taking notes, but nothing that anyone did could push her off her path. If this was something that she was actually good at, she was going to hold on to it with both hands.By the time she hit graduation, Dinah had blossomed into an incredible painter. Some of her work had already found a place in local galleries and museums. She was always smudged up with some sort of paint or charcol or ink, though that didn't turn people off of her. Even when she was struggling to keep up with school and still have time to be creative, she always found time for football games and dances and the like. She loved people, and for the most part, they loved her. The only thing that put a damper on her senior year was her parents' firm insistance that she go to college. Dinah hated school, and didn't see any reason for continuing that torture. Worse, they didn't want her to go to school for art. They wanted her to have a more 'solid' career. They argued for weeks. In the end, the parental unit won out. Dinah was shuffled off to Charleston to attend the university. She lasted a whole two months before she dropped out. Not only could she not focus, that wasn't what she wanted out of her life. She stayed in Charleston for another month or so before returning home to the island, ready to fight with her parents once again. They had one big blow up, and Dinah turned right back around and went out on her own. She found a small apartment in a part of town that her family wouldn't have called safe, but it didn't bother her. As long as she still had her freedom, she was cool with whatever.Years later, she's still there, though the living space is a lot nicer looking than it was when she moved in. Several galleries in Charleston feature her work, as do most of the displays on island. It's enough to pay the bills, most months. Recently, she's branched out and started making jewlery, which she sells at whatever sort of boutiques will take it. She's thinking about setting something up online, or maybe opening her own store/gallery, but that's something that'll happen far, far in the future. For now, she's living for the moment, and having a great time doing it.
Magnetism -- Dinah's magnetism is mostly under control now, though it does break away when she's feeling extremely emotional. When she's using it on purpose, it's no where near as powerful. She can make stuff that isn't too heavy hover around, and bend spoons and the like. Hopefully, one day, she'll achive the same strenght in her deliberate magnetism as she currently has when it's out of control.
