THE BASICS!

FULL NAME: Marcus Novius Dominicus
NICKNAMES: Marcus
AGE & DOB: 18 / born in January

APPEARANCE!
Vile, sadistic games, elate, heartless souls
Roman, way of life, savour, a human sacrifice

Marcus looks every bit the typical son of a Roman nobleman. He is just under 6 foot tall with dark longish hair, deep brown eyes slightly tinged with gold and dark skin. He looked darker in the summer if any amount of time was spent in the sun. He has been trained to fight both in bladed combat and with larger weapons and has a slim but muscular frame. He has a scar on his shoulder from a fall as a child that is not too noticeable thanks to some very good stitching and the rest of him is relatively unmarked in any way. His long legs give him most of his height and in that he takes after his mother. Marcus is most comfortable in tunics and shifts, clothing of the villa and only deigns the full toga when absolutely necessary which of course happened more and more as he got older. He nonetheless looked always fashionable and was greatly popular amongst his friends and peers. He has an engaging smile and a horribly contagious laugh and is more often than not in a good mood and doesn't let too much bother him.

PERSONALITY!
Civil, disobedience, quickly, ends your life
Dying on display before thousands, their death will please tonight

STRENGTHS: friendly. honest. loyal. intelligent. artistic. good speaker. honourable. protective. caring. good sense of humour. not afraid to speak the truth.

WEAKNESSES: Loyal to a fault. blinded by passion, love. living shadow of father. wine. sex. good baths. not wanting responsibility. not the best hand to hand fighter. restless. had bad dreams, sometimes deals with insomnia

charming - sexy - intelligent - passionate - puts a wall up around himself to most, partially from how he was raised, partially as a defense mechanism to protect from class interlopers - likes nakedness - loves books, to read, gaining knowledge - bisexual because he loves everyone, but has leanings toward men - wise and optimistic - indulges in occupations as painter and scholar but not completely dedicated to either of them - definitely a patrician's son but not as spoiled as most; can have a bit of an entitlement complex but not his dominant trait

Marcus is smart, witty, charming, something of a smooth-talker, gentleman, well respected, independent, confident, optimistic, but can be skeptic at times, well-mannered, civilized, open-minded, ambitious

BIOGRAPHY!
Warriors on parade engaged in vicious Roman games
Fascinate imperial sovereignty

Portia Antonia was a bright and engaging daughter of the very well-to-do Antonii family and early in her life she met Novius Dominicus, back when he was a young Centurion, and she fell in love. Her family did not want her to be married to a soldier but she was in love, and head-strong and determined. But fate would intercede all around when is father died and he came home to take over the family. He took the seat in the Senate at a young age and was a popular man, fair but thoughtful, fore-thinking but one who minded the past.

Marcus Novius Dominicus is the eldest born son of patrician senator Novius Dominicus and Antonii heiress Gratia Portia. They had met and married when still teenagers and 3 years after Marcus was born, his sister Valeria was born. He was a kind man and one of those easily liked by more people than not. Gratia was beautiful and caused Novius to be the envy of others. All in all, they were happy.

The prestige of the family only grew when Valeria at 7 was chosen to be a candidate as a novice Vestal Virgin. She easily was invited and has been there now these 8 years. Marcus sees his sister as often as possible and as he got older, often accompanied her on her travels and excursions.

Marcus started school when he was seven as was the norm of the time. He made friends easily and was popular even at that age. He enjoyed schooling and learning. His teachers held hopes that he would make an excellent senator himself, or a scholar and philanthropist. Regardless it seemed that Marcus to make any life of his as he saw fit.

But all was not to be. When Marcus was 10, his mother got sick and after some time, fell sicker and died. The family was devastated and Lucius was beside himself. So it was a great surprise when it was announced 2 years later that he was not only seeing another woman but that they were soon to be married. Marcus didn't like her from the beginning, there was just.... something about her but he couldn't explain it. But he tried to be cordial, for his father's sake. Not that it mattered. Atia Julia was not a nice woman and seemed only interested is his father and more importantly, her spoiled annoying son Tullus.

Marcus threw himself into his schooling, into his friends and into his vices. He was not willful or out of control, he just would rather spend time enjoying things than worrying about them. It would not even cross his mind to do something that would injure or embarrass his father but as he got older, he was thinking more on his own, becoming an adult, wanting to do and see more. They existed as that for a good number of years and Marcus might have minded if his father had not been so happy especially in the last few years. Valeria flourished and she and Marcus adored each other. They were each other's confidants and best friends. It was to her that Marcus first told his feelings for boys as well as girls and whom he talked of his likes and dislikes more than anyone else. Tullus was not nearly as annoying but the more Atia doted on and spoiled him, the worse he seemed to get. Marcus knew boys like that in school; they were the kind he wanted to punch behind one of the Forum building.s

Tragedy struck Marcus and Valeria once again. On a trip to Tarentum, Valeria and Marcus were gone for almost 5 weeks for a pilgrimage of sorts for Valeria. They liked traveling together and the trip would not be TOO long. It was on their return to Rome that their father, step mother and brother were attacked by unknown forces. Their carriage was forced off the road as the three were returning home from Neopolis, and it tumbled down a small incline. Who or how it was run off the road was a mystery. Wreckage showed that a lantern sparked and the oil caught it on fire and all were thought to perish. Marcus' father's ring was brought back to him and Marcus wears it as he and Valeria are consumed by sorrow for their family.

Marcus is now Master of the House, though he is not quite finished with school, and he is likely expected to take his father's place in the Senate. Time will tell if he is ready for the responsibility and all it entails.

Formed, in ancient Rome, violent, age of steel
Man's, brutality, found new depths of pleasure
Slaves, captured in raging battles, forced, to fight, till the death
Senseless, brutal show of strength, immoral side of man
Fight, for your life, Fight, till the death!
Vile, sadistic games, elate, heartless souls
Roman, way of life, savour, a human sacrifice
Prisoners, could die by the sword, or live their lives in shame
Treacherous, murderous, thieves, helpless feast for the lions
Fight, for your life, Fight, till the death!
Refusal, to worship, the Gods, of the Roman State
Civil, disobedience, quickly, ends your life
Dying on display before thousands, their death will please tonight

Latin, spectacle of violence, Rome's malevolent society
They stand, alone, in the ring, with sword, in hand
Preparing, to fight for their lives, to fight till the death, to die for
Rome's pleasure
With blood, on their hands, a friend, lies bleeding before God
Impaled, sword plunged through their chest, hacked and mangled
Dragged through the death gates to hell!
Warriors on parade engaged in vicious Roman games
Fascinate imperial sovereignty
Entertainment for their sick and twisted vile pleasure
Two hundred years before Christ had walked this earth
Rome displaying it's violent nature
Falling as a civilization
Never to return again
