HOGWARTS WEEKEND

RAVENCLAW VS. HUFFLEPUFF
170 - 180

GAME TIME: 1 HOUR

Despite a short play time, this match did not fail to entertain its young crowd! Despite Hufflepuff being favored to win, DAGWORTH-PEAKES, KNIGHTLEY, and MCCORMACK wasted no time in showing their Hufflepuff seeker counterparts (FAIRBURN, GUDGEON, and SUMMERBY) just how talented professional chasers are when put against a trio lacking in positional experience. Within the first 30 minutes Ravenclaw scored 90 points, a feat only helped by Hufflepuff FAWCETT's seemingly sloth-like response time. While BELL had an easier task than usual, he did manage to let one goal from each chaser, achievements made known by the small, game-stopping celebrations the Hufflepuff team engaged in with every score. BAGMAN and BROADMOOR did their best at taking out the Ravenclaw chasers, but were mostly forced to protect MACFARLAN from the unrelenting force of PRIDDY and JENKINS. MACFARLAN seemingly unable, or unwanting, to move from the constant bludger attack resulted in LUFKIN being left generally unattended for the first half of the match. Even with that help, LUFKIN struggled to catch the snitch before MACFARLAN, who did so just shy of the hour mark–and mere seconds before MCCORMACK scored the goal that would have tied up the game! One couldn't help but wonder why Hufflepuff waited so long to catch the snitch, as it was only a matter of time before Ravenclaw outscored the 150 point won from catching the snitch, while Hufflepuff was weighed down by an apparently bored FAWCETT. However, this did not stop the Hufflepuff team from enjoying the match, as they were all laughs throughout compared to the starkly serious Ravenclaws.

GRYFFINDOR VS. SLYTHERIN
980 - 810

GAME TIME: 13 HOURS

WHAT A MATCH! After 13 hours of game play, a collective sigh of relief ran through the stands when M. MATTIAS finally caught the snitch. Though a seasoned veteran in the position, it seemed that she simply out-endured QUIGLEY for the capture, who looked a bit overwhelmed and exhausted towards the end. Though it should be noted that all players seemed that way, only compounding the stress presently formed by the number of inter-relations between the players themselves! During playtime (and the two hour break allotted after the first 12 hours), the student announcers figured out just how personal this match was, which had to account for its longevity. While BOOT and BARDERA playing against each other is nothing new (the siblings have been doing so for years), SUMPTER, MIDGEN, M. MATTIAS, and QUIGLEY are all teammates, which put QUIGLEY on the uncomfortable opposing side. WILLIAMS and MULLET also had the unfortunate luck of facing off against each other, if the current reports that they are dating hold true. MULLET's boyfriend wasn't the only chaser she had to deal with, however, as her teammates TROY and BOOT, notoriously never having gotten along after BOOT's trade for TROY to United, struggled to work as a unit. FLINT didn't seem to have any problems flying against his ex-teammates, but it was obvious that the rivalry between all United players and SPINNET is still in going on, as the Keeper for Gryffindor did have to deal with an unusual amount of bludgers his way during the game. On a light note, MAGGIE and ADRIAN MATTIAS looked like they enjoyed playing on the same side for once, and BULSTRODE and RABNOTT have both stated in interviews how close they have been since their school days, and how happy they were to be playing together today. To say the least, this Gryffindor/Slytherin match-up, like many others, did not fail to impress! Let's just hope these players will be well-rested for their season openers next week June 1st!
