FULL NAME: Cho Chang
NICKNAMES: Chang
CHARACTER JOURNAL: [info]chocharmed

DATE OF BIRTH: August 20th, 1979
CURRENT AGE: 20
BLOODLINE: Half
SEXUALITY: Straight
FORMER HOUSE & YEAR: Ravenclaw | 1997
OCCUPATION: Seeker for Puddlemere United
CURRENT RESIDENCE: She has a flat in Muggle London, not far from St. Mungo's
POLITICAL VIEWS: Definitely a member of the Order if she's welcome :) Her maternal (magic) family is more prejudiced (they never really liked Rui for being muggle AND Chinese, and her Chinese family has always been cold toward Angelica because she's white -- Cho never grew up with a taste for prejudice because of this).

PARENTS: Rui Bai Chang, a muggle businessman (he's in real estate from Hong Kong) in Glasgow, married the witch Angelica Stowe and had one child, Cho.
SIBLINGS: None
FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS: Cho is a daddy's girl all the way, she would do just about anything her father asked. She's close with Angelica but in a more friend-ly way than mother/daughter. Angelica is definitely the "cool" parent. The only time Cho has defied her father (so far) is when she accepted a position on the United instead of furthering her study in Charms like they'd planned. Cho has family in Hong Kong that her father requires her to visit for Chinese New Year every year, though he's more understanding if work keeps her away, as she's older now. The Stowe's are scattered throughout Scotland and America, Cho doesn't know them well.
MARITAL STATUS: Single (unless there's a Cedric/someone else that wants to play with history, of course!)

MAGICAL STRENGTHS: Charms. Flight.
MAGICAL WEAKNESSES: Defense, sadly.
SPECIAL MAGIC ABILITIES: None in particular.
WAND: yew, 9 inches, unicorn hair - it's "willowy"
PATRONUS: A swan.
BOGGART: Her father dead from something muggle that St. Mungo's can't cure (gunshot or the like).

Appearance.

PB: Malese Jow

Cho is preppy by nature, with a bright disposition (having never seen her boyfriend murdered), and was popular at Hogwarts for her fashion sense and quick thinking. She stands straight up, wears her long black hair in a pony tail a lot (though as she's gotten older she wears it down more often), and she has light freckles across her nose.

She smiles a lot, and she loves with all of her, coming off as very emotional. First impressions of her are that she's quick witted without being sarcastic, friendly and open, and a little on the quiet side.

Hair: Long, black. Height: 5' 4½" Eyes: Brown.

Personality.

Cho isn't the bravest of people, when she's off her broom, which she sort of hates about herself. The unknown terrifies her, and she covers a lot of that fear up by having a sunny disposition and being a bit of a cheerleader for everyone in her life. She's academic at heart, even if she's also a 'jock', and her Ravenclaw pride knows no end, even if she's graduated by now. When she's feeling particularly skittish or worried, she'll retreat to her books and her parents, who have always been more willful than her and tend to always have the right answers, at least in her point of view they do. When she's on her broom she doesn't feel skittish or worried about anything in the world, which she thinks is why she fell so in love with the sport in the first place.

She's fiercely loyal to her friends and family above all else - above politics, blood, and obligation. Her closest friend is still Marietta Edgecomb, though as she's aged and her secret has gotten more involved, she's pulled away from even her closest friends to spend more time with her parents and avoid having to explain anything.

LIKES: Cho loves quidditch, more than almost anything in the world. She's been a fan since she was 6. Muggle pop music and Muggle movies (she loves going to the Muggle cinema by herself for a show and she eats a whole large popcorn by herself when she does!), Professor Flitwick, and Muggle amusement parks.
DISLIKES: Violence, mean people, peas, vacationing in China, being single.
HABITS: Cho bites her bottom lip when she's nervous, and laughs lightly when she doesn't know what to say.
VICES: Cho sneaks a cigarette every so often when she's feeling stressed and has a penchant for vodka and diet soda despite her dad being strictly against drinking. She mostly indulges in these things at Never Never Land, a location her parents would also certainly disapprove of.

History.

Cho was raised as the apple of her parents' eyes. Angelica had been unsure she'd be able to have children and when they conceived Cho, it was as if all their dreams had come true. Rui was a stern but loving father and Cho would do absolutely anything to make him happy as a child. They brought her up both magic and Muggle and yet put no pressure on her when she started showing magical traits at four. When her letter for Hogwarts came, her parents made it clear that if she wanted to attend a Muggle school, she was welcome to. Seeing Hogwarts as the bigger challenge, she chose magical education and hasn't regretted it once, especially since she gets to spend every day playing Quidditch, in her opinion the best thing about magic.

She was well placed in Ravenclaw, immediately finding a group of ambitious, friendly students to call her friends. She was fairly popular in school, between her good looks and friendly disposition (and older boys always seemed to like that she was on the quieter side), and until she started dating Cedric Diggory, never really had any problems in school beyond the usual House and Quidditch rivalries. When she started dating Cedric, though, and the Harry Potter started paying her more attention, some of the girls in the school got a bit meaner toward her. When Harry asked her to the Ball in her fifth year, she felt genuinely bad that she had to turn him down, and hoped that they could become friends, but she was so enthralled that Cedric had asked her, and so head over heels for him, that she felt it would all work out no matter what.

Her fifteen year old self unabashedly saw Cedric as the man she would marry, and she let herself ride the fairytale until the summer months when they drifted apart, with her in Glasgow and him in England. She spent the whole summer heartbroken, missing him, and never quite got over her first love [this part is obviously up for discussion if/when we get a Cedric!].

Cho threw herself further into her sport and her classwork and spent the summer between her sixth and seventh year interning at her father's Muggle real estate office, feeling more blah about the world but settled, as well. After her NEWTs she had the chance to apprentice with a Charms master, but she had tried out for the League in the summer and was delighted to accept a position with Puddlemere. This was the first - and so far, only - major rift she'd ever had with her father, who was devastated she'd throw away a solid future in academics for a sport. In her first real show of strong will, she stood up to Rui and kept her word to Puddlemere, working mostly as a second string Seeker. Toward the end of her second season, at 19, she got to start in a few games and is hopeful that the trend will continue in the new season.

SECRETS
Angelica is suffering from Early-onset Alzheimer's, she was diagnosed at 42, now 44 Angelica has good days but her bad days are progressively worse, if not happening more often (Cho is at least grateful for this). She spends a good amount of time at St. Mungo's testing magical routes for treating the disorder. Cho spends a lot of her off time with her parents trying to help them through it, and she's secretly terrified of getting the disease someday. She takes after her mother in so many ways, most notably her magic, and Cho is worried that her getting magic from her mum means she's also likely to get the disease.
