an evening out
Who: Jonathan, Cho, and Mia
What: Aunty Cho is doing her auntly duties!
Where: Chambers' home and then out to a muggle movie!
When: 25 November
Rating: Gen
Status: Incomplete

Cho wrapped herself up in her Ravenclaw blue scarf, shrunk down the magically animated plushie that she'd gotten for Mia, and, with the toy in her pocket, apparated to within a few feet of the front door of Jonathan's parents' house in Brighton.

Cho loved visiting Jonathan, getting out of London and spending time with Mia were among her favorite things, and while they'd competed in a friendly way on the House team growing up, she absolutely adored the man that Johnny had become. He was enthusiastic, as smart as any Ravenclaw ever, loyal, adventurous, and caring. He and Davies were the only ones who knew about Cho's mum, and there was an overwhelming comfort being around either of them, not needing to keep things compartmentalized and careful.

Taking a deep breath and smiling to herself, she made her way to the door and knocked hard.

The Chambers' Residence in Brighton was currently full with people. The older Chambers brother, Tristan, and his wife Eva had come over after returning from their holiday in the United States. And, of course, Johnny was home - weekend off from Quidditch - with his daughter Mia. But honestly, Mrs Chambers loved it when her boys were under one roof, it seemed to happen less frequently lately.

The knock was easily heard throughout the house and little Mia - who was being carried by her father to answer the door - smooshed her face against the glass panel beside the front door, bouncing a little when she saw who was on the other side. "Who's there, Munchkin?" Johnny asked holding his daughter. "Is it Aunty Cho? Shall we let her in?"

The questions just earnt more wiggles from the excited toddler. Luckily Johnny was well practiced in holding her when she was in one of those moods or she would have wiggled right out of his arms. "Okay, settle." Johnny juggled Mia to one hip, freeing a hand which he opened the door with.

"Hi Aunty Cho!" He greeted a bright smile on his face. Mia held out her arms to the woman, wanting to be held and cuddled by Aunty Cho. "Come in, come in." Johnny moved aside, letting Cho in, his tone welcoming for his friend.

"Mum's been in the kitchen most of the day. Tristan and Eva returned from the States so Mum's been cooking up a mountain of 'proper food'." Jonathon's Mum was half Italian and loved to cook - which was a plus because Johnny loved to eat.

Cho reached out for the squirming girl immediately, a bright smile present on both lady's faces. "There's my lovely girl," she cooed before looking to Johnny. Laughing at his family comments Cho couldn't help but feel a bit jealous, her Mum would never be able to do things like that for her family again. Not that Cho's Mum was ever much of a homemaker, but it was the idea, she supposed.

"What's she making? Do I smell pumpkin pasties?" Cho looked up from her friend just as his mother entered the hall, "Hi Mrs. Chambers!" She waved slightly, Mia still clinging in her arms, and then she put her attention on the girl. "So, Mia, have you been to the movies lately?" She asked as if Mia were a fellow grown up perfectly capable of answering succinctly, before nuzzling her nose in an Eskimo kiss and giggling.

Mia giggled in delight as she was passed over to Cho, pressing a kiss on Cho's cheek in greeting as she had seen grown ups do. "My Cho," Mia grinned happily, running the words together a little. At 18 months, Mia was stringing together very short sentences and recognised a few words - but most of what she said was still babble.

"Ah, and there is the word of the week. 'My' or 'mine'." Johnny chuckled before nodding, confirming Cho's suspicions. "Pasta, pumpkin pasties, pizza and strawberry tarts." His mother had a broad range of things she cooked being influenced but the different cultures she grew up in.

"Hello Cho, dear," Mrs Chambers replied in greeting before disappearing back into the kitchen. A soft tirade could be heard through the swinging door as she chastised whoever else was in the kitchen to stop eating the tarts as they were for dessert.

Mia played with Cho's scarf, fascinated by the texture, but her attention quickly went back to the woman that was holding her when asked a question. "No," she replied with a cheeky grin, using another one of her favourite words, laughing at the Eskimo kiss.
