Basics

Name: Grace Jameson
Age: 22
Date of birth: November 28, 1986
Occupation: Unemployed
Sexuality: Bisexual
Relationship Status: Single

Personality

Positives: Creative, intelligent, confident, bold, independent, versatile, passionate, willing to take chances, quick thinking, 'jack of all trades', recovers quickly from setbacks
Negatives: Sarcastic, impatient, immature, reckless, obnoxious, doesn't listen, doesn't take advice, thinks she knows everything, doesn't think about consequences, disorganized, unreliable

Summary: Grace is taking on the world single-handedly. She will try anything and can do anything becuase she's just that quick, clever, and beautiful... and when that all goes horribly wrong, it's obviously because something is fundamentally wrong with the world, not because of any fault of her own. Grace has a strong personality, but the world usually seems to be just a little bit stronger, she pushes hard and gets pushed back a little harder. That doesn't stop her from trying every wild idea that she comes up with. If it sounds like fun, why not try it? What's the worst that could happen? Oh, that's right, she could fail miserably becuase the world is a cruel cruel place. But maybe the next thing will work out...

Morally speaking, Grace is unpredictable. She will go to great lengths to help a friend or a stranger, to save them from even the slightest hardship. However, she will also go to great lengths to do some really petty and vindictive things, for no apparent reason and with no particular gain for herself. Just becuase she can is a good enough reason for her. It all depends on her whims and she doesn't think of anything she's done as being especially good or bad, it just is what it is. On any given day she might make fun of you, she might make you cookies, she might save your life, or she might steal your car. It's hard to say. If it's an especially busy day, it could be all four.

History

Family: Constance Jameson (mother, deceased), Elton Jameson (father), Melanie Jameson (step-mother), Mary Jameson-Cartwright (older sister), Sarah Butler (older sister) ([info]charmandchance), John Butler (brother-in-law) ([info]knowsecrets), Stuart Jameson (older brother), Cecilia Porter (step-sister), Shawn Porter (step-brother)

Summary: In the beginning Grace had the perfect happy little family. The youngest of four she was spoiled rotten and never wanted for attention from her parents or her older sisters and brother. She wanted to be just like her siblings, so she would try anything they were into, whether that was painting or acting, hockey or cooking. Anything one of them would teach her she would pay rapt attention to, not out of any real interest in the activities, as fun as they were, but more to spend time with her favorite people.

As she grew up that all started to change. Around the time she was finishing primary school both of her older sisters faded from her life: Mary to a husband and a house in another part of the country, Sarah to do things young Grace didn't really understand. The house was much quieter after that and in the absence of the other girls Grace practically clung to her mother, spending all her time with her and trying to be more like her. All too soon though, when she was just fourteen, her mother died. Grace was devastated by the loss. She didn't know where to turn. As if that wasn't traumatic enough, at the funeral her sister Sarah was picked up by the police. Their father cut all ties with Sarah and Grace followed his example. She didn't know the full story of what had happened, and she didn't care. She was angry and alone and at least this way she had someone to blame and resent.

Grace suddenly found herself the only female in a sad and quiet house. Her father threw himself into work and her brother soon left for college. Mary tried her to fill the role of mother for her younger sister, but there was only so much she could do from afar. Grace spent as little time at home as possible. She jumped from hobby to hobby, friend to friend, mentor to mentor, and boyfriend to boyfriend with desperation and no discretion whatsoever. She picked up myriad skills and habits both bad and good but never really found what she was looking for.

Eventually her father remarried, to a woman she felt nothing but indifference towards. She gained a step-brother and step-sister near her own age, but their relationship was awkward at best. Seventeen is a bit late to bond with new family. Soon after the wedding Grace went off to the state university with a sense of relief. There she continued on much as before, going from one field of study to another and sampling every experience that came her way. She experimented with alcohol, sororities, drugs, hair dye, punk rock, religion, sports, student government, atheism, vegetarianism, Buddhism, paganism, political activism, lesbianism, nihilism, and every other ism available. In the end she ended up leaving with barely passing grades, a string of failed romances, and a year and a half shy of any sort of degree.

Unsurprisingly she moved through states, jobs, relationships, and in one memorable instance a commune, with similar flightiness. For the most part she begs, borrows, steals and somehow manages to stay afloat. Through all of this she kept in sporadic contact with her family, missing them terribly when she was away for too long, but never finding quite what she missed when she visited them. Her visits to Mary down in Isle of Palms were the longest and most rewarding, so she decided to spend some more time around there.

Power

Teleportation: Grace is able to physically transport herself to other locations. She doesn't need to see where she is going, but she does need to know the destination well enough to be able to find it and picture it. In addition to teleporting herself she can also transport objects and people that she is touching. Small items like clothing, keys, and wallet are automatic. Larger objects and people are more difficult and take more energy and concentration to transport.
