Narcissa
A shoddy mood and Rabastan Lestrange was never a good combination. He frowned deeply across the parlour of the Malfoy Mansion, keeping his shoulders slouched and arms along the back of the couch. Not the most gentlemanly of positions, but he had not come here to be a gentleman. No, Narcissa was one of the few Rabastan could tolerate for more than ten minutes at a time, and he'd come here to be comfortable and relaxed. It was no secret that Narcissa enjoyed his company, even if it was to simply dote on him.

Of course, he never minded this kind of attention, and would only admit to himself that he was looking for it.

His parents, it seemed, had found it to be time to find him a bride. Now, this had failed before, when he was seventeen; the girl they'd chosen for him had tragically keeled over in the middle of the engagement party. Allergic to the shrimp, or so many believed. One of Rabastan's proudest performances, he'd even managed to get in a few dances before she'd taken a drink of the deadly potion he'd slipped into her drink.

At any rate, the annoyed rumblings about Bellatrix not producing an heir yet was causing his parents to start suggesting names, women that he might be able to call his wife and---no. He was not getting married. He would kill them before he got married, and right now he needed Narcissa to calm his murderous thoughts because he was very close to going through with them.

Rabastan's eyes lit up gently as the woman entered the room, and a smile curved up on his lips as he stood to greet her, "Narcissa, it's so good to see you."

Ever since the prospect of losing those she cared about had become very real and very tangible, Narcissa was constantly on edge. She had always doted on Rabsatan an unusually large amount, and with nothing to do but worrying these days, that amount had increased tenfold. The thought that perhaps she was doting a bit too much never occurred to her, and if someone were to ever mention it, she would dismiss it -- It was just the right amount of doting, as far as she was concerned. How would they know she cared, if she didn't shower them with it at every opportunity?

Narcissa had been listening to the WWN -- It was all she seemed to do, lately -- when a house elf knocked on her door and told her that Rabastan had arrived. A wave of relief washed over her to hear that he was at the Manor, safe and untouched, and was glad that she had one less person to worry about for a while. After giving the elf instructions to bring tea to the parlour, she left the room to greet him.

She couldn't help but think how good it was to see him when she entered the room, and the very last piece of anxiety left her, as if she had to see him with her very eyes to be certain he was all right. With a small, but very genuine, smile, Narcissa crossed the room briskly and gave the young man a peck on the cheek. "It's good to see you, too." She sat in a seat close to his and motioned for him to join her. "I haven't seen you in far too long, Rabastan. We mustn't allow this to happen again. Now, you must tell me how you have been these days."

He sent her a very rare smile, and sat down once again after Narcissa had taken her seat. Yes, Narcissa was one of the very few (and by very few, probably the only) that Rabastan honestly believed he adored. He could probably never say that out loud, as it sounded dreadfully silly to say that you adored someone, but he simply could not find a thing wrong with this woman. Maybe the fact that she hadn't been the one to marry his brother, but that clearly was not Narcissa's fault.

Though, it did leave him with the crazy Black sister to deal with, but again, one could not control birth order as he'd learned at a very young age.

"I've been better, I must admit," Rabastan said with a small nod, leaning back into the chair for a moment, looking thoughtful. The fiasco with Sirius Black had completely ruined the past few weeks, what with the Dark Lord punishing him for it as often as he could. Rabastan's job in the archives of the Department of Mysteries at least let him be alone for long hours, to deal with the pain.

"Work has been a complete hassle, I deal with idiots all day," he said with a dismissive wave of his hand. Narcissa could take that as his actual job or his death eater duties, both would work. "And how are you, Narcissa? I can barely catch a word from Lucius these days.."

Stewie: I was under the impression the name of the show was "Kids Say the Darndest Things", not "Old Black Comedians Never Shut the Hell Up".
