i am discouraged
lately i've felt very discouraged in my personal writing. does this happen to you guys, and if so, how do you deal? with rp it's great to get constant feedback, but with my personal writing - my pet novel-project in particular - i feel like i sit so long stewing my ideas between just me and myself, and quickly lose my will to write and come to believe that my ideas are just bad. there is no love & encouragement in personal projects, is there? today i went exploring to try to encourage myself, and amassed a perfect visual representation of my story.

but that wasn't really enough to get me motivated again, so i was wondering if any of you ladies are also working on projects and would be interested in swapping first chapters. i need some feedback and encouragement, and i would be glad to provide feedback and encouragement. we could have a first-chapter-swapping party. anyone up for it?

I feel like it's so much harder to work on something by myself, mostly because I have a really hard time focusing and I lack self-esteem so I think anything I write sucks by default. That's why I kind of cling to RP, because it's easier to work off of somebody else and I'm not left to stare at my Word document thinking "Why the hell did I even bother typing this out?" I feel like I lack purpose in my personal writing so I just... don't... do it very often.

I like your pictures. :)

i wish i had the motivation for a personal project. like liz, i feel so unfocused when it comes to doing things on my own, whereas RP there's this constant need for reply reply reply reply or else the person on the other end's like WTFMAN:///. so yeah, i sort of cling to it too.

i seriously really admire you guys for having that sort of drive. D: i used to do itty bitty fanfics, and of all of my WIPs, i've only ever finished ONE and it was CRAP but gosh i was the proudest little mother hen. i have ideas, sure, but i never go anywhere with them... perhaps i might. maybe.

i love the pictures btw. especially the cracked floor with that stencil of the bird.

Probably a bit late, but!

I would LOVE to swap first chapters with you, and I totally understand about how much harder it is to work on something without anyone being interested or encouraging. I'm probs going to be a BIT busy for the next weekish or so, but you should ping me sometime if you catch me and we can come up with some chapter-swapping technicalities.

Those pictures are totally inspiring, btw. I'm tempted to meme that on my writing journal.
