It had taken a lot of time to come to this decision, but Svalin eventually reached one and gathered her courage to go through with it. What she was about to do was big and probably wouldn't go over too well with a lot of people, especially her parents, but she had to do it.

Svalin took a deep breath and put her hand on the hilt of Vigfrior before entering the great hall. Svalin's gaze was locked on the figure on the throne at the far end as she crossed the hall. Her courage threatened to fail her, but she held on to it as hard as she could.

Heads and eyes turned toward her and she could hear the whispers from the people gathered in the hall. She ignored them and kept walking toward the throne. Nothing would dissuade her from doing this.

She stopped at the base of the dais and the steps leading up to the throne.

Her head bowed and she went down to one knee.

Thor frowns, considering the situation.

"Thou canst not." he begins, letting that rest a few moments. "The loss or morale wouldst be crushing, thine grandfather wouldst be... angered enow to shake the realms, and whilst thou hast commitments, to be sure... all Asgardians hath been asked to set family and all else aside for the realm before, and wilt be again. Thou wouldst hath no less asked of thee than we ask of the line soldier..."

then his tone softens. "But yet, there mayst be a way. In the past, I hath seen to other protectorates, e'en before the throne... but it wilt not be any easier a road. Merely different... but if thou art undaunted by challenge... then mayhap."

	"I must," Svalin said. "I wilt not let mine son be taken again. Surtur and those who wouldst do Asgard harm wilt not take him again. If he ist to be the hope of Asgard, shouldst he not be protected?" Svalin shook her head. "I art undaunted by challenge. I wilt do whate'er is necessary to protect mine family." "Aye, and that role ist the only reason this mayst e'en be possible. Thou hast other training... and if thou wert to take a position within the valkyries, Brunnehilde's second... that wouldst allow thee to claim allegiance to their order... apart from the normal armies. Thou wouldst exchange one command for another, but as shield-maidens, the Valkyries mayst allow thee to spend more time in defense and protection... including of thine son.

But thou wouldst need to convince Brunnehilde twas a good idea, overcome the challenges of her second, and convince thine sister to willingly volunteer to take thine place."
