Battle of the Rock Bands!
The auditorium of the high school was crowded with various groups of teens, mostly girls, all there to win a day with Starry Twilight. The room was filled with a lot of giggling and squealing.

The band sat at a table in front of the stage and were the judges for the event. Their manager sat at the end of the table and looked bored out of their mind. Four bodyguards stood behind the band members and tried to keep enthusiastic fans from reaching the band.

A large screen was set up on the stage so the competitors could easily see it.

"Next up," the manager said as one group just finished. "Band number twenty." The manager sighed and put his chin in his hand. It was going to be a long day.

	Scotty Vernard had two things in mind. First was doing his best. Second was seeing which of the Starry Twilight guys Zoey was starring at and figuring out what the big deal was. (Reply to this)(Thread)

19 bands... and they'd all played the same damned thing. What's worse, the same damned thing was Starry Twilight's latest big hit. Daniel is almost positive his ears are bleeding.

"We are not playing that song." inspiration. "Someone else already got an almost perfect score on it... we need to do something else... something not Starry Twilight, if we're going to stand out."

It may also help that he's using a real guitar that Val hooked up to be compatible with the game for him, and they have the keyboard - one of the more difficult options. If he can get them to, you know, play actual music as well, maybe they can win, he can get his new guitar... and they can leave, quickly.

Scotty thinks, gears whirring beyond those little eyes. He tugs on Daniel's sleeve. "The Dire Straits song has easy drums, normal singing, difficult keyboards and fiendishly difficult guitar," he reminds him. "That could maximize our points without anybody getting over her head." Zoey was awesome, and he didn't want her to think he didn't have confidence in her, but whereas keyboards were practically just like typing, which any ~~Richards~~ Vernard had to be good at, drums were another story.

	Zoey would have been more comfortable on the keyboards with her piano lessons and all, but she could do drums. She guessed. She'd do her best and hoped it was good enough. "I'll be okay. Drums aren't that hard." She stole a few glances over at Joey when she could. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Dire Straits? Yeah, he could so do that. That's one he actually practiced whenever he could, like a good little guitar fanatic. And Scotty is right - if he nails the 'fiendishly difficult guitar', they could put the score through the roof.

"Yeah, we got this." he replies, heading onstage after the girls are politely thanked and shooed off, setting the music, for once, to actual music.

"And now for something completely different..."

	Daniel, on the other hand, has played this one through plenty of times. Perfection on it is a tough goal - Scotty was right, fiendishly difficult covers the guitars about right - but he's done it before, and his girlfriend really wants this - so he just keeps it up, letting the score pile up. The song came to an end the members of Starry Twilight talked among themselves as they tallied up the scores.

Their manager Bartholomew Jarret "Beej" Weem stood up and went up to the stage. He looked so happy to be there. Not.

"It looks like we have a winner. The winner as you all know gets to spend a day with Starry Twilight."

He made a grand showing of opening the envelope. "And the winner is...band number TWENTY!"

	The band members got up and came up onto the stage. Wendell was carrying the guitar and was smiling. AJ was being all serious. Joey looked a little mopey and Davey looked like he'd rather be somewhere else. "Here you go," Wendell said cheerfully. "With enough practice one day you'll be as good as Joey and me." Daniel glances at the people shooting him glares. He shrugs... he'd trade it or swap off his contact information for theirs if Ellie would let him get away with it. He's fine with someone else suffering in his place. He does make a point of preparing a wrong number for them. He has the guitar, Ellie and Zoey have their day with the talentless hacks, everyone can be happy, right?
