Sometimes you get so lonely; sometimes you get nowhere.
Vernique was headed back to the Defenders compound with all the right papers for a Durable General Power of Attorney in the State of California. She'd triple checked everything, and Svalin would just need to fill them out. Then their Asgardian marriage would be given its Earthly equivalent as she legally acquired a fiduciary role for Svalin.

She didn't pay too much attention to the figure near the gates.

Dexter Spengler, Captain Spengler to those who knew him, stood outside the gates to the Defenders' compound. He had just gotten off of work for the day and came by to see if he could catch a glimpse of Lady Svalin. It was love at first sight when he saw her at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas and his only desire since then had been to meet her.

Somedays she would be out on the lawn tending to the horses, one even had wings, and he would see her. He tried waving and shouting in Klingon but each attempt had been unsuccessful. There had to be a way to get to talk to her.

He was about to give up and go home for the day when one of the residents came outside. It was one he had only seen a few times. She was pretty, but she was not his blond goddess.

"Miss! Miss!" he yelled and waved his arms.

"I'm Spengler. Captain Dexter Spengler. It's nice to meet you Vernique. That's such a pretty and unusual name."

He pulled a disc out of a hidden pocket. "Could you please give this to the Lady Svalin? We...um...share a common interest and I wanted to show her how I felt about her. I couldn't get her to listen to me when she was outside and I really like her and...." Yes, he was babbling now.

Oh the poor thing!
"Well, you see, Asgardians are very complicated --" Vernique starts to explain. She's even ready to cheer him up by explaining how they're perfectly free to date. But... this boy wasn't Svalin's type. And he was obviously crazy about her. She shouldn't get his hopes up that far again just to dash them more.
"-- but yes. By Asgardian law, I'm her wife."
