Winter Social - Friday, December 9th (open to all)
The events committee pulled off a rather impressive decorating scheme given their limited budget this year. Old silver and blue candles lit every alcove, sparkled above students heads as the floated around the ceiling. A spell created snow that fell among the candles and dissipated just as it reached the shoulders of the students partying below.
Recycled ribbons and streamers in a wintery palette draped on the walls, off the back of chairs and the small stage that graced the far end of the ballroom. Tables were draped with cloths in various shades of icy blue, some silver, some pristine white (at least until the students managed to spill their beverages).
Music hummed in the corner as a local cover band warmed up their instruments. The usual spot for photographs was set up just inside the doors. Professors wandered around the periphery, making sure the students were on their best behavior, though as these things usually ended up, the students were a lot better at misbehaving than their professors were at stopping them.

Steven/Open
He had been studying very hard for the upcoming exams and could use a break; he expected that some of his fellow students would be doing the same... not that anything of the sort had been discussed in the library. He knew that Veronica sometimes made an appearance at these things, and if she could tolerate whatever went on at these socials then they must have some merit.
A drink was acquired after some very suspicious sniffing of the punch (it smelled safe) and he hovered inconspicuously in a far corner of the dancefloor.
Steven/'Abernathy'
After a fairly unorthodox Thanksgiving break and some time to think on it, Bernadine decided she was going to confront this Steven situation head on.
It didn't hurt that she could use this as an excuse to escape the Cinna-Thorn shit show that tended to occur at every dance. She sidled up to him in his far corner and smirked a deliciously Abby grin.
"Decided to do some stalking at a dance instead of in the library?"
Adelaide/Luka
They finally settled down long enough for a single 'acceptable' photo before being shooed away in a fit of giggles to make trouble elsewhere in the hall.
He unbuttoned his suit jacket now that they were roaming the interior. "Just one year, I'd like to see them do a black ice theme," he joked.
She may have looked the part, but she definitely wasn't feeling very ladylike tonight.
He grinned into her perfectly coiffed hair, pleased that her arms were already sneaking around him and he didn't have to encourage a thing. "I doubt it, but I'm willing to bet she'd go with a 60's free love theme."
That sounded like a great idea. They could spray the place with patchouli oil and get high off their asses in the back corner.
Arnaud/Open
Still, he always managed to find a good time.
He recycled his prom suit with a new bowtie and cummerbund. He made his usual circles, commenting on all of the fabulous hair and great dresses. What he was really looking for at the moment was someone to gossip with. Scandals had been cropping up all over campus (usually stalking after the rapacious Nikitin boys; one of Arnaud's favorite subjects of gossip).
He'd actually managed to last quite a while under the radar, visiting the drinks table twice and not having a word said about his lack of formal dress. He was actually quite annoyed that his statement was going unchallenged. People were ignoring him.
He bumped into the nearest partygoer deliberately. "Nice penguin suit," he started, before seeing it was Arnaud. "Oh hey. Nice penguin suit!"
Carly/Open
And by tramp she was mostly thinking Cinnamyn and Abernathy.
She wore her favorite paisley halter maxi-dress, the one that made her look about 10 inches taller than she actually was. She had a bit of socializing to do before she enacted plan Destroy the Skanks and plastered on a winning smile as she made the rounds.
Re: Carly/Kazamir
Kazamir never tried to hide his complete infatuation with professor Pilar Olivier (and her killer legs). No one tended to give much attention to Kaz so most probably wouldn't know about his
littlestalker-crush. Tonight he was sitting in his room pounding J.D. and beating it to a picture he snagged of her a year back when he realized the photograph wasn't enough anymore. He threw on a suit and hightailed it down to the dreaded (as are all) school function. Now he wandered around searching for Professor Olivier without any luck.Kazamir fell into a chair and stole a swig from one of his flasks, almost given up, when he spotted her (or so he thought). Ejecting himself from his seat as quick as he had sat down, Kaz charged at Carly Travers like it was the last thing he was every going to do. The moment he got close to her he gazed into her eyes and gawked at her beauty. "Good evenin' profethor," he blurted out, "need a danthe partner?" he asked with a dramatic wink of the eye.
"Exactly who do you think I am?" she asked, placing her hands on his shoulders and swinging him toward the dance floor.
"Your dreth is... WOW!" he said as he reached into his pocket to grab the flask in his coat pocket. He took a swig and almost offered it to her before giggling and putting the cap back on. "You can't drink cuz you aren't old enough lil lady," he said still giggling but now at his lame joke.
Veronica/Open
She reasoned then, that she needed a break from all the endless studying. By that very reason she thought she must be losing her mind.
She sent home for her standard holiday party dress and made her way past the photo booth to look for anyone who might want to distract her for the evening.
Veronica/Braden
Towards the entrance, he spotted Veronica, his date from the Halloweenfest party whom had been unceremoniously abandoned for... some kind of amazing food. He waved. "Hey!"
In the end it turned out to be a decent trade off. Why he was coming over to talk to her during the winter social had her a bit boggled. She wasn't a cheese platter; he couldn't possibly be interested in her.
The Vomit-pocalypse
But then of course, this was a Dresden dance and something was bound to get ridiculous. Vomit was probably the last predicted outcome of this evening.
It started somewhere in the middle, almost impossible to tell what happened. Maybe someone had passed out puking pastilles and now everyone else was heaving in sympathy.
"Frank, bro, half the students are blowing chunks."
Frank shrugged, a little too buzzed to really care what the students were doing. "Should we try to fix it?" he asked weakly.
Val laughed and opened the rear door for Frank to exit. "Fuck that noise. Let's go get lit."
Maddy/Riley
She had to use a cleaning spell to tidy up the hem of her regency era gown after accidentally stepping in a puddle the professors missed. At the very least she had a strong stomach.
She was just straightening up when she spotted Riley and she couldn't help the stupid grin that sneaked across her lips.
"Oh, hey." He said, as casually as he could manage. "Just, you know. Holding the wall up."
