Michal!
Therese shut her eyes, taking in a deep breath as she tried to maintain her composure. She could smell his cologne; it made her mind rush back to their summer days in Paris. Her back pressed against the wall and she grimaced.

She had been on her way to the powder room while their dessert made its way to their table, hers and Michal’s. Dessert didn’t feel like the right word, however, because they had not ordered an appetizer or drinks or a main course---it was simply the dessert cart that was being filled with treats and pushed over to their corner table to pick and choose as they wish. It was most certainly a date that they would not call a date, and Therese had been excited before she was cornered in the narrow hallway that led to the loo.

“I don’t understand why you keep doing this,” she said, finally opening her eyes. Remy stood inches away, close enough so that if she tried to get by she would be forced to brush up against him and she knew that was the point. He always did this to her; it used to be thrilling when they were dating, standing just enough away to still feel the other’s body heat. The memories made her uneasy and she turned her head away.

“I am looking out for you, Therese,” he said. “You keep finding yourself dealing with the wrong type of man, I do not believe it is healthy.”

Her eyes shot back to him, “You lied to me for years, used me as a pawn in your auror-games, how could you compare yourself to anything?” In her anger she put her hands up and thrust them at his chest to push him away. He ruined her life, he was not allowed to pass such judgements! Remy let out a laugh and quickly grabbed her wrists, pulling her hands down between them.

“Stop being foolish,” he snarled with a grin.

Staring at a table full of desserts that were meant to be in your stomach was a trying experience. And while usually Michal would not be pressed to follow his desires and be rude... it would be rude. Tonight, He didn't quite feel like being rude. Tonight he felt like being pleasant, perhaps a bit clever, as he usually felt within the presence of one Therese Bonaccord. He had to admit, Michal had been enjoying her presence over the past few weeks, and rather liked their weekly walks along Falmouth's beaches because--- well, he wasn't fully sure, but he did. So.

It got to the point where Michal had drank all the water he could before deciding it no longer functioned as a distractor. What was she doing in there, powdering her entire body? Perhaps now would be an opportune time to take a leisurely walk to the loo. And if it just so happened that the men's loo was near the women's loo, then so be it.

The scene Michal "happened" upon was not one he had been expecting. Actually, one that definitely did not usually occur in a restaurant. This was public. And also England. Since when did wizards accost witches in public? Obviously this prat needed to be reminded that there was no longer a war going on, and therefore zero excuse for close proximity and grips like that.

Plus! That was his date--- lady! Person. You did not get accosted on a Michal Conway Lynch date.

"Oy!" Michal called across the way, not having fully reached the pair yet. "Hands off!" he ordered, waving his left hand sharply to the side. Did she know this person? He hoped not. Knowing someone like that would be much worse. For good measure, he gave another wave, fully ready to show him a Falcon-worthy experience.

They had begun a rapid fire exchange in French. Therese's face was a deep red from anger and embarrassment, this was absolutely ridiculous! He was not allowed to touch her anymore, to grab at her like he owned her and could scold her! Her own father had not lectured her this way in years, and he was the man that had shattered her life, her ego for so long, trying to criticize her. Therese tugged away from him while they went at it, but was startled out of her string of insults (there was nothing like cursing in French) by Michal's sudden appearance. She stood stock straight and stopped struggling in surprise. Remy's grip on her didn't loosen as he paid no mind to the voice from down the hall, but when he saw that Therese's attention had turned from him he glared down Michal.

Her hands went up to her chest the moment he let her go and she rubbed her wrists. He was an absolute barbarian, and Therese shoved at him again when he turned toward Michal. "Just get out of here!"

"But will you not introduce me? Would the quidditch neanderthal be able to handle a conversation?" Remy mused with a laugh, putting his hands out as if welcoming the other man to join the festivities. Therese made to grab the sleeve of his cloak to keep him at bay but he knocked her hand away sharply. He took a moment to look back at Therese, lip curling, "Have you really lost all your senses?"

In her dreams, when she lost her train of thought and was caught staring out the window, Therese imagined over and over again what she would say to Remy, how she would strike him down with her perfected bat-bogey hex. She envisioned it all beautifully, but now that the opportunity was here, his words sliced at her like daggers. How was that even possible? Therese helped her patients through relationship issues like this all the time, how was she unable to move past the pain he'd caused her and allow herself to revert to the stunned, heart-broken girl he'd left on the pavement those many years ago? How had he managed to cut her so deeply that she still hadn't been healed?

Therese bit the inside of her cheek, face a flaring red. As much as he was still mentally able to hurt her, he was not allowed to touch her that way. Swiftly, she jabbed the heel of her shoe into his foot.

Well wasn't this incredibly inappropriate and awkward.

Michal wasn't quite sure how he would categorize--- violent siblings? Domineering exes? He would admit he wasn't on particularly good terms with most of his ex-girlfriends, but that didn't mean they treated each other like this. He had also never seen Therese so outwardly aggressive, which was surprising, and he would've made a liking comment about it if it wasn't so wildly inopportune.

His brow darkened at the wizard's comment. While he wasn't some freak genius, being called a neanderthal was rich coming from a french accent. At least he could speak english without a lisp. Or smelled like cheese (Michal had a firm stance that all French smelled, either remotely or heavily, like it).

"I don't want to talk to you," he said bluntly, his face contorting as if he'd just heard a funny, yet unbelievably offensive, joke. "I don't think she does either," he offered, first pointing at Therese, then flattening his hand to hold it out for her. Michal held it placidly, feeling she might need a physical lifeline away from--- this. He wasn't quite sure what to think of her in all this, but his judgements would have to wait until she had the opportunity to explain.

Was it a poor choice to expose his limb like this? He would find out soon. At least now he could say he had tried to be civil before breaking out into activities less than appropriate in the back of a restaurant. With his free hand, Michal waved at the wizard again, giving a few quick flicks for good measure.

She couldn't dwell on how disappointed she was that this dessert night had started off so sourly. Therese had been in such good spirits these past few weeks and she would admit to Mackenzie (and only Mackenzie) that it had to do with her time spent with Michal Conway. She didn't feel the pressure of being someone she wasn't when she was with him, and it was nice to be seemingly appreciated for just being herself. Therese couldn't allow herself, at least in this moment, to get sad and upset that their evening had been interrupted so rudely.

What was Remy gaining out of stalking her? All Therese could think was that he got off on the mental anguish he caused her, because that was all he ever managed. Tonight had been the first time she'd physically touched him in years, and it was a shove, a push, a foot stomp! Could someone really be that cruel, or was there something actually wrong with him? Therese used to think she could read the man's mind like a book, and though she'd been proven wrong there was a wildness to his eyes that she'd never seen before. Remy had always been so cool and collected, one of the many reasons why she'd fallen so hard for him. He seemed so distance, even confused.

Therese was grateful for Michal's interruption however and didn't hesitate in taking his hand. He deserved an explanation even if Therese was incredibly embarrassed by the whole ordeal. She used to be good at containing her anger (except when it came to Matilda Rowle), and look at her now! Without another word she started to walk away, pulling on Michal's hand so that he would hopefully follow her out of the hallway and away.

"Yes, of course," Remy snapped, and Therese winced, "continue playing the role of his whore, it seems to be a terrible habit of yours." Her face heated up greatly, but she refused to acknowledge his words even though tears struck her eyes.

She hated him.

Michal hadn't been planning on interjecting himself much more into this situation than he already had, but that last comment was quickly changing his mind. Who was this guy? Clearly out of his bloody mind--- so one of Therese's subjects? He quickly decided it didn't matter, because no matter what he was to her, he needed to be put in his place. Or get his blood french mouth hexed.

Jaw clenched, Michal poked his head forward to look at Therese. She had begun to cry? Well, that wouldn't do. Frowning, he let go of her to turn back to their departing friend. He knew she was fully capable of taking care of herself, and he had thought that butting into her business would be intrusive, but now it was personal. Delightful! Holding himself back had been dreadfully mature, even if it'd only been for a couple of minutes.

"Blimey you talk to your mother with that mouth?" Michal snorted, finding that he could not take this outlandish character seriously. He turned fully to him, his back to Therese. Maybe this wizard just got his jollies off of making women cry. Which clearly also made him bloody insane--- who would willing bring that upon yourself.

"You haven't been here long have you?" He did not wait for a response, and continued. "You have to work on your English, mate, because it's bloody offensive to my ears," he slowed down his words, definitely teetering over the edge from innocent to condescending. "And I'm Irish." He produced a good smile after, just for good measure.

Therese turned immediately to stop Michal; the last thing she needed was to cause him any trouble, what if there was someone with a camera, or a reporter following him around? She could already see the headlines tearing her apart. She'd managed to stay out of the rags during her time with Rupert but who knew how long that could last. How had their night barely begun but had been ruined so drastically?

Her thoughts of worry dissolved as Michal tore into Remy. As she wiped away at a few loose tears Therese couldn't stop the smile that slid onto her face, feeling her chest pound with something like pride. He was sticking up for her when they had already been given the out; Michal wasn't her boyfriend, he didn't have to do anything but he was. Her cheeks were now red from the bit of adoration she was feeling, and it wasn't until Michal was done with his tear that she felt Remy's intense gaze on her. Therese's smile faded and she sent a vicious glare toward her ex before stepping forward and wrapping her arm around Michal's.

"Leave," she said sharply. Remy's frown tightened and his mouth twisted. Therese could tell it was very difficult for him not to respond to Michal's insults, his tongue always ran over his teeth when he bit back what he really wanted to say. Instead, he waved a dismissive hand and made a pointed gesture at the two of them before disapparating with a loud crack that made the portraits hanging on the walls shake. Therese's eyes shut tightly at the sound and once he was gone she let out a relieved breath.

"I'm so sorry," she said with a shaky voice, pressing her face into Michal's shoulder. Now that Remy was gone and the rather tense situation was over, her adrenaline was slowly dissipating and allowing her true nerves to pass through.
