Who knew...?

Who knew what was going to happen?

Did he?

I'd like to wake up now.

It will be all right, Miss Rosier.

How can you even say that?

It's not all right...it never will be.

I can say that because that is what life is about. Your brother gave his life for a cause that he believed to be greater than himself. You should take solace in the fact that he was doing was the right thing.

It will hurt for a long while, but you will endure and his sacrifice will be for the betterment of the world you will get to live in.

But...what if the pain never goes away?

I can't handle this. Not after my Mom...not after everyone else I've lost...

It will.

Do not worry, I will be here for you. I will make arrangements and take care of things.

I loved your brother, he was my best friend and the only person that---always cared no matter how---I behaved and--I'm so sorry for your----loss!

Why did it have to be him?

He---he was brave, and loyal and---it will help the cause, in the end.

Of course...the cause.

Right now, I don't give a damn about 'the cause'.

But, he was more than...that. He stood for more than that, and now the papers are making him out to be some sort of...monster.

Then...then you will behave like the woman of society you were raised to be, and you will hold your head up and not give them any sort of satisfaction, Kalista. You will stop crying where others can see and you will listen to your betrothed. It's just the way we are to survive in this delusional world, we have to ignore the masses of idiots who don't understand what we're fighting for.

Evan gave his life so that our side would win this war, you can not sit around and bemoan his death and let that sacrifice go to waste.
