Zoey would have a lot to write about when she did her "What I Did This Summer" report when school started. First there had been two new arrivals to the Defenders with Andy and Eiltin. Three if you counted Titan, who Zoey liked to call Big Green. Next came finding George and taking care of him. That lead to an adventure into space and beating Galactus.

Now it was a trip to Boston. Zoey loved taking trips and flying on airplanes, especially to places she never been before. Boston was a city she hadn't been to before and when Mom asked if she wanted to go, Zoey immediately said yes. Daddy had said he would show her around and she would get to meet her grandparents. Zoey never had grandparents before and thought it would be neat to meet them and get to know them.

The only downside was that she couldn't take George. She left him in her room and George assured her that he would be able to get his own food and take care of himself. Zoey didn't like leaving him, but she had no choice. She packed her own suitcase and backpack. She took clothes and some books to read on the plane. Her iPod and Nintendo DS were also put in her backpack.

Zoey read on the plane and also took a nap. They were in Boston in what seemed a short while. She started out the window as they were landing. The city looked pretty from the air and there was a lot of water. It was the Atlantic Ocean. Zoey had looked at the atlas before she left.

They collected their luggage and Zoey walked with her dad out of the airport. Holding his hand as was the rule when around a large number of people.

Avery is especially protective of his little girl as they make their way through the airport. As they get toward the front doors, there is a sign reading "Crittenden" and Avery will lead Zoey in that direction.

He smiles when he sees the elderly chauffeur, and introduces Zoey to him immediately.

"Zoey, please meet Chauncey Gardener. Chauncey, this is my daughter, Zoey. Are Mom and Dad in the car? What about Audra, Andrew or Aurora?" Avery asks.

Chauncey smiles at Avery, shaking the younger man's hand as he speaks in a rich English accent.

"Master Avery, so good to see you. Your father is away on business in Africa, but he should be in this evening. Your mother is at home, and your siblings haven't arrived yet.

However...Master Adrian insisted on coming to meet you." Chauncey says, a little quietly. He does smile again immediately as he looks at Zoey.

"Miss Zoey, it is a pleasure to meet you. I hope that you will enjoy your stay with your family." he smiles, offering her a lollipop.

	"It's nice to meet you too," Zoey said and held out a hand for a shake. Mom had warned her many many times to be on her best behavior, be polite and mind her manners. She beamed when she saw the lollipo. "Thank you!" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Chauncey shakes Zoey's hand and smiles. "You are certainly welcome, Miss Zoey. I'll make sure Claudette keeps you stocked up on those while you're here." Avery leads Zoey to the car while he and Chauncey take the luggage. Once the two are seated inside, they'll see that they are greeted by a new face. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Adrian Carver smiles at the pair and nods at his cousin.

"Avery, long time no see! Glad to see you made out this summer. Aunt Angela was starting to think you wouldn't." Adrian says, before his eyes lock on Zoey.

"Avery...who is this pretty young lady?" Adrian asks, looking back to his cousin.

"This is my daughter, Zoey, Adrian. Zoey, this is your cousin, Adrian. He asks lots of questions; he's a reporter." Avery says blandly.

"Well, I have /lots/ of cousins, so I'll make sure to show you the ropes of being a good one." Adrian smiles.

"Some cousins are easy to deal with, like your Aunt Audra. She's in the military. Did your Dad tell you that?" he asks.

"Then you have cousins like your Dad...who can sometimes be Captain Grumpy-Pants. But that's okay too, because cousins are special and you love them anyway."

Avery wanted to puke. He really, really, wanted to puke right now.

No, he wanted to punch Adrian in his face right now, but not in front of Zoey.

"And some cousins are utterly pretentious and don't know how to leave work at work, Zoey. Those cousins are the ones you move halfway across the country to get away from." Avery smiles.

He then fixes his cousin with a "shut up, now" glare.

	Zoey liked her room. It was big and very nice and it had a very big bed in it. She even tested it out by jumping on it a bit. Aunt Bryn had said that the way to test a bed was to jump on it a bit. It was exactly what Zoey did. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Zoey gave him a smooch on the cheek. "Okay. I want to meet them." She looked at him and tilted her head. She was a little confused about how she would not be up to it or uncomfortable meeting her family. It was nice to have more. It had only been her, Mom and Aunt Bryn for a long time. "Okay. 	Zoey talked to her mother and told her all about Ginger and the picnic lunch. Then she went into their plans to go into Boston and see the different parts of the city. Zoey informed her father and mother she wanted to go on a Boston Duck Tour. She talked until she had to excuse herself to go to the bathroom. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	After a great dinner of steak and potatoes the Crittendens sit around the table waiting for dessert. Per Avery's request, Claudette has put out bowls of chocolate ice cream. "Did you enjoy dinner, Zoey?" he asks. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	"I did," she said with a smile. "It was very good." Mom had reminded her a few times to be on her best behavior. It was hard to sit through dinner without fidgeting and without talking much. 	Zoey and Mom seemed to be getting along well enough. Avery hoped that this was the start of a happy relationship. "Mom, let's not overwhelm her, now. We'll work something out." Avery says carefully, not wanting to commit Zoey to anything out of the box. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
