Amends
Henry breathes out a long breath as he sits down opposite Avalon, Josh, and Katima. He barely knows any of them, really -- he met Avalon barely a month ago, Josh a week and a half ago, and Katima less than a week ago. And yet... in many ways, he feels he knows them so well, they might as well be Din, or Jon, or Jai, or Iris, or Allanah.

"Okay," he says. "I've got a lot to say here. So... please. Let me just say it. Just... hear me out, okay?"

The instant Katima sees Avalon she pulls him close to her. Worry over him had been chewing away at her as she awaited Henry's return and now that he was here, she didn't want to let him go. Her other hand rested on Josh, at least for the moment.

"I will hear you out, Henry."

Avalon is still a bit dazed from being knocked out by Orange and Yellow, and he gives Katima a rather tired and worn little smile as she pulls him close.

He doesn't even really fight where he ends up, snuggled against her side. Instead he just lets his head drop down to her shoulder and he murmurs to Henry, "I promised I would listen with an open heart."

Josh still has a bit of a headache from dealing with the Red Lantern but he's still happy to see Ava and Henry back safe. Sitting on the couch on the other side of Ava, he's administering his healing abilities to help Ava recover.

Henry heaves a deep sigh. "I grew up around a lot of superpowered kids. I've got a best friend who's a yellow half-alien prince of tiny people in the Amazon. I've got several good friends who can bench press a bus. Powers are so common..." He stops and thinks. "Keith takes his power for granted so much that he doesn't even want anyone to know about it, because it embarrasses him." He shakes his head. "All I ever wanted growing up was to be a hero. I wanted to save lives and help people. I wanted to prove that I had what it takes. And I finally got what I wanted. A green ring." His ring glints as he shows it to them, but he doesn't smile in the least as he shows it.

"You three have become very close to me in a very short time," he says. "A week? Two weeks? A month? You should be practically strangers to me. But you're not. I... trust you. All three of you. Which is why I can do this."

He slides his ring off his finger and places it on the coffee table.

Avalon gets it, but he doesn't speak up to explain things for Katima. Instead, he raises a hand and covers one of her own, his tone soft as he says "Let Henry speak, Katima."

Ocean colored eyes then turn back to Henry, and Avalon nods. He and Henry may not have spent much actual face-time together, but Avalon has been watching Henry for the better part of a month. He has a fairly good idea what Henry may be trying to say - and for Henry, this was a pretty big deal that he took off his ring!

"Oh no!" Josh gets up quickly, immediately looking rather annoyed. "It's bad enough that both Katima and Ava were talking about doing it but there is no way in heck I'm putting up with you trying to give up being a Lantern too, Henry!" he says, jumping to his conclusion.

"Yeah, you made a huge stupid mistake but that's no reason to give up on being a hero! There's still a lot of good you can do for the world and all your friends."

Henry holds up his hand. "No, Josh. That's not the point." He runs his hand over his face. "It's everything I ever wanted to be. It's like... all my friends were better than me. They could all do more. They could save the world, like I wanted to. This ring was the gateway to that." He nudges the ring with his finger. "And you three were the first friends I made since becoming the person I thought I always wanted to be. And... I..." He pauses a moment, trying to find the words.

Avalon doesn't speak up, he just turns his eyes away. Despite the emotional closeness between himself and Henry, he still feels that there is a disconnect between them. This is - quite literally - the second time that they have spoken seriously and been having the same conversation.

Instead of replying to Henry, he just gives the other boy time to speak. His free hand wanders over to rest against Josh's side, the simple contact between them reassuring. It's silly that he is more ill at ease with sitting and having this talk than he ever was on any battle field - but the truth.

Josh blinks a few times and blushes. "Oh..." he trails off, sitting back down. He hides his face a moment.

Moron, Josh. You're a moron.

He goes otherwise quiet, just listening sitting there leaning against Ava.

He feels his heart race to put all this out there. Which steels his resolve for what he must say next.

"And you three... you've all impressed me. A lot. I mean, Josh, you come down on yourself because your dad's a supervillain, but my dad... my genetic dad, anyway... was a drugged out waste. He ODed before I was born, and my mom sold me on the black market to get another fix. It was pure luck... and a zombie attack... that brought me to my real dad. That's it." He smiles at Josh. "I could have been in your boat. But I never would have been as good of a person as you are."

He looks to Avalon. "And you... you saved your world... and without even a ring. That... almost scares me. I never could have done that. I never did anything incredible without my ring."

He turns to Katima. "And you. I don't know yet how you were accepted into the Indigo Tribe, but... your compassion is... I don't know how to describe it. But you astound me."

Kat is quiet as he speaks and remains quiet for a long time after. She closes her eyes and takes in a few deep breaths. She can feel him and it is almost overwhelming the amount of will he is using just to speak and stay in the very room. Her lips twitch at the corners into something similar to a smile. He's almost there. He's almost baring all his heart.

"What is it that you want, Henry? In your heart."

Her voice has no accusation, just gentle softness.

Avalon is quiet as well. He lets Katima do the talking however, for even though he feels everything that she does, he is still uncertain.

Josh is welcomed to lean against him though, and Avalon tugs him up under an arm, forming the three of them into more of a pile than what might be considered simply sitting.

"Yes. What is it?" he then asks softly, ocean colored eyes on Henry's face.

Josh's expression is a pretty horrified one when he learns about Henry's genetic parents and what his mother did to him. He stares but resists the urge to just go grab and hug the stuffing out of Henry. It becomes much easier when Henry calls him a good person, Josh going bright red and hiding his face for a moment.

He goes otherwise quiet, just listening and watching. "Yeah..." he echos the other two, staring right at Henry.

He sighs. Here's where it all falls apart.

"I've never been interested in... getting too close to anyone. Because... I mean, I've had friends, but to rely on anyone on any level other than that... you never know what will happen tomorrow."

He considers. "But... that hurts you three. And I never would want that. And I..." He stops again, thinking of the words.

"Josh. You're incredibly handsome, of course, but there's more than just that. You're giving and sensitive and loving and... many things that I'm not. I hurt you by ignoring the connection we'd made. I'd... be honored to be with you."

He raises his finger before anyone can talk.

"Wait. Because... I'm not done." He looks to Katima. "Katima. We've barely met, but we connected on a level that I'd never expected. I don't think I could be having this conversation today without your help, and I hurt you by hurting the others around me through my stupidity. I'd be honored to be with you."

He turns to Avalon. "And... Avalon. You were assigned as my partner. I never expected you... and you were the best surprise I've ever had. I trust you implicitly. And I hurt you..." He breathes out. "...in a lot of ways I'm still figuring out. I'd be honored to be with you, too."

He shakes his head. "But I don't deserve any of you. And none of you should be hurt by my choice... because I can't possibly choose."

He spoke of wanting to be with Josh. In her chest Katima's heart sang because Henry had finally chosen to feel. The joy of that sensation sang through her and she smiled broadly, her hand clasping Josh's.

He spoke of wanting to be with Avalon and Katima nearly cried with joy. She had been right about Henry Jordan. His heart was deep and wide. Her other hand clasp Ava's as tears slid down her rose cheeks. All was right now. He had told them. All was right for them now. She could be happy if they were happy.

"I knew you loved them," she whispered. "I knew you boys were for each other."

Somehow in her compassion she had completely missed everything Henry had said to her.

Avalon's ocean colored eyes watch Henry as he speaks, but it's not Henry who he speaks to. It's Katima.

"Did you not hear what Henry said to you, sister?" he then murmurs, his tone gentle. It seems that the Blue Lantern is doing a bit of his own job, inspiring hope in others.

Avalon then looks between Henry and Josh, before he finally turns his eyes to Katima as he says softly "Were it not for you, we would all be apart.. torn by our own hubris in a time that we needed your indigo light the most."

He pauses then, before his smile grows, and Avalon says to Henry now, "I am starting to think that Felicity might have been crazy, but her violet touch has already struck true." he presses a hand to his chest, "I know that there is room in my life for more than simply one person. That was never what I wanted from you when I came to Earth; it's not what I want from anyone. I just.. require my share of time to feel desired and I am happy."

About as red as a Red Lantern's ring, Josh barely registers Katima taking his hand.

After a few moments he jumps slightly.

"Wait...are you saying you want all three of us?" he asks. The healer glances at Ava and blushes worse before looking back Henry to wait for an answer.

"I... can't pick." The idea of multiple partners is not one he's considered.

"I..." He swallows nervously. "I think it's possible that... I could love each of you." He looks at Katima. "Including you, Katima."

He shakes his head. "But I can't pick. And I don't really deserve any of you after what I've done. But I wanted to apologize for being a complete moron. And let you know that whatever I can do to make it up, I'll do it."

Avalon seems to be the only one so far not having a hard time with this concept. He gives a little bit of a laugh, and then shakes his head in amusement as he sits back and says "You are all very silly. Of course there is room if your heart is open."

He then shrugs a bit, his tone still smiling as he says "Not everyone can handle something like that, and we would all have to be very aware of one another at all times.. But.. I think it's do-able."

To Henry, he says softly "If you were not worthy of our attention, none of us would be sitting here listening to you. Please do not speak so harshly of yourself, Henry. Everyone makes mistakes."

Extracting himself from Josh and Katima, Avalon sits forward and makes eye contract with Henry. He's deadly serious, his joking and silly side seemingly gone. All that Henry has before him is the old-before-his-time boy who stood by his side without question whenever called.

"Henry, what I am saying is that you do not have to choose as far as I am concerned. I personally refuse to. Besides my duty to you and my ring, I have come to know Josh and love him very much. I have spoken with Katima privately now twice, but I have shared my soul with her and she has seen me bared to her senses. At this point it would take breaking hearts to only limit myself to only one.

"If you were to choose then we'd be right back to where we were with someone being the odd one out. Why does there have to be anyone left out? Just because I have made a commitment that should only end in my death to you, that does not mean that I am bound to give only you my affection. I do not ask that of you and I would think that you would not ask that of me.

Besides that, I can not. Through all this, Josh has been my sanity and my reason. In many ways I am just as commited to him as I am to you, Henry. My partnership with you is a sacred thing, something that Hope ordained and I answered. What I have with Josh is a very sweet surprise that I feel is my reward for following my faith.

"Something that I have not been able to tell you is that my mother told me some of this would happen. She told me of you and me, and she told me that there would be a third Lantern. I came to Earth ready to welcome Katima even before I had met her, and when she arrived, it was of no surprise to me. Katima is my mirror. I can not hide from her, and I can not admit what I am feeling for she is far too precious to hide from.

"But, I believe that we could make some sort of.. thing.. work. There would have to be some sort of.. reasonable terms to come to agreement to. I'm sure that with the three of us we could keep you reasonably satisfied.." he smirks a bit at that, "But from what I understand, this is not something normal on Earth. It is normal to me, but.. I'm one of two aliens here. I do not know how things are on your home world, Katima."

He looks to Josh then, a brow raising as he asked softly "Would that bother you to share me? I know how you feel for Henry, but.. I have yet to have asked you how you felt of Katima."

Josh stays quiet, trying to figure things out in his head. Listening to Avalon, he looks at the Lanterns and swallows.

When Avalon looks to him, Josh jumps and once more resists the urge to flail. Going red again, he looks up at Henry shyly before glancing to Katima. I...don't mind sharing you, Ava. I love you...and Henry," he says. "And I...well I'm gay. I just can't have any kind of physical relationship with Katima...but I do really like here," he smiles at the Indigo Lantern. "Especially after fighting that Red Lantern together."

He can't really hold him responsible for not telling him when he wasn't up for listening to anything.

Avalon affects a rather shy expression, and then he reaches out and drags Katima into his arms. His answer for her is non-verbal, yet one that she will no doubt feel loud and strong. He lets a warmth, an affection for her grow within his chest until it feels as if he's ready to burst. It's only then that he nuzzles his face near her own, his lips brushing across her own in a sweet and gentle kiss.

Josh answers by reaching over to hug Katima and Avalon together. He smiles after that and stands. The healer walks over to Henry and looks at him a moment before leaning in to kiss him. "Alright. I'm willing to give sharing you all a shot."

Henry's kiss is surprisingly chaste. In many ways, he feels he needs to earn some privilege back.

"...you realize, my dad's going to freak..."

But he smiles at them all.
