Cecilia
It had been another long, boring day at work, and Evan was looking forward to going home, pouring himself a drink, and sit down on his own couch and just relax. He hadn’t been as stressed out as he was a few months ago, so his mood had improved since then, but that didn’t mean he still didn’t come home feeling just as miserable after a long day of work. It wasn’t that he didn’t like what he did, because he was good at it, and it came easily to him, but it was just who he had to translate for that made him irritable. He had been sitting in one room for about 6 hours, translating Russian to English and vice versa, so his neck and shoulders were stiff. Nothing a shot or two or six of fire whiskey couldn’t fix.

Opening up his door, Evan let out a long sigh as he walked through the threshold, greeting the large female dog that greeted him. “Unten, Aegis…” The dog obeyed, and her master reached down to scratch behind her ear, patting his hand against the side of his leg, instructing her to follow. She did, and also stopped as he did, as those mix-matched orbs gazed down at the brunette who was asleep on his couch.

Suddenly, his bad day at work didn’t really matter anymore. It was still something he didn’t understand, how his entire mood could change just by looking at her. He didn’t really understand love, since it was still such a new thing for him. He thought he had been in love once before…a reason he had put off feeling that way again for such a long time, but that was just…an infatuation. This though, how Cecilia made him felt; it was completely different.

Aegis stepped closer to the sleeping girl, nudging her gently with her nose, causing her to stir. Evan leaned against the doorframe, watching as she opened her eyes, tilting his head as he looked over at her. “Bored, love?” He lifted a brow, though it was obvious he was amused.

Cecilia hadn't meant to fall asleep.

Really, she hadn't. But she also hadn't meant to get to her boyfriend's apartment a whole hour earlier than she had expected him to get off work, and she hadn't meant to stay up half the night before with Kalista trying to convince her that this thing with her father was probably nothing. After getting there, all she'd intended to do was wait around, pay attention to Aegis a bit, but all of her efforts aside, she had ended up dozing off easily within the comfort of Evan's couch. Having not realized what had happened, imagine her surprise to wake up to the cold nose of a dog and said apartment resident staring her in the face.

Cecilia wasn't embarrassed, but she rushed to sit up and straighten out her hair and clothes anyway. By all means, they'd been together long enough that falling asleep alone in his apartment wasn't something that she felt like she needed to hide, but she didn't like it when things caught her off guard like that.

"Oy, oy.." she mumbled towards Evan sleepily, unamused by his... amusement. She was still fixing her appearance--damnit, she had been so put together beforehand too--, in the midst of the effort straightening a silver locket that had fallen back behind her neck. Just touching the object, Cecilia suddenly felt just a little bit more leniency towards the man across the room, and couldn't help but let the corner of her lips quirk up into a smile, forgiving his look just as quickly as she had condemned it. "Couldn't get out of work on time the one day this week I decide to impose on you?"

Watching her sit up so quickly, he waited patiently for her to wake up enough to form words. Her mumbled words did nothing more but make him smirk again, since he knew she couldn’t be too happy to be woken up so abruptly. He unfolded his arms and straightened up, taking a few steps towards her, his hands slipping into the pockets of his pants. He was standing a few feet from her when she smiled up at him, and that smirk he had been wearing actually formed into one of his rare smiles as she quipped about how late he was. It was there and gone within a matter of moments, but the fact that he had given one at all was always a good sign.

He stepped closer, waiting for her to finish what she was saying, only pausing momentarily before he decided to speak again. “If I had known what was waiting for me when I got home, I would have put more effort into trying to be on time.” With that being said, he leaned down to greet her with a kiss, letting the affectionate gesture linger for a few moments before he pulled away, his hand moving to brush a strand of hair she had missed behind her ear. “It’s good to see you…” He kissed her again, and kept it going for just a bit longer this time before he moved back again. “I’ll be right back.” Stepping away from the couch, he walked towards the kitchen as his hand started working on loosening his tie, grabbing two glasses and a bottle of fire whiskey, bringing all three objects into the living room with him, placing them down on the table in front of her. He was a little cautious about mixing Cecilia with alcohol, but he wasn’t stupid enough to believe she had stopped completely. Tonight was just one of those nights where he needed something to help him relax. Besides, it wasn’t like she could get into any trouble while she was there.

Placing everything down on the table in front of her, he started working on his tie again, slipping it off his neck as he threw it onto the chair that was nearby, taking a seat beside Cecilia, working on opening the bottle and pouring them drinks as he spoke. “I feel like today lasted an eternity…nothing went smoothly, and my client spoke so fast I could hardly catch half of what he was saying, so what should have taken 2 hours took 6…and that’s exactly why I wasn’t on time tonight.” He finished pouring and started to put the cap back on. “So I think that something to take the edge off is in order.” Lifting the glasses, he turned to her and extended hers towards her.

Cecilia's brow rose visibly at the sight of the bottle and glasses in Evan's hands, her mind instantly wondering if he had brought this out to taunt her with. She couldn't help but give him a suspicious look as he filled a second glass and extended it towards her, taking it from him cautiously. It wasn't as if she didn't drink when Evan was around, but what was that? Wine? Wine had stopped having effects on her at, what, 13? No, this was rare, that he would deem it safe to hand her hard liquor, and one of her favorites, to boot.

Cecilia could feel his scrutiny, whether it was real or imagined, weighing down on her as she took a sip of the harsh liquid--keeping it only to a sip at a time, despite that they both knew she would take the whole glass at once were she not in his presence. But it was all part of the deal. He'd put up with a lot from her and her habits in the past, and she owed him something for still being there. If that was doing her best to at least marginally curb her tendencies, that's what she was going to do.

"It's good to see you any time," she spoke, taking one more--deserved--sip, before leaning heavily back into the couch. Truthfully, after everything with Antonin had happened, she would be with Evan around the clock if she could. Not just because she missed unarguably her best friend apart from Kalista--but because she was afraid that suddenly, one day, he was going to just be gone too. "This whole month deserves to have the edge taken off."
