[Amery!]
Marnie felt rather bad. She'd been so preoccupied with her brother-in-law being horrifically killed that she had barely paid attention to who else in the Ministry had suffered through the tragic accident that everyone had gone through. Perhaps she only felt bad because she was extremely pregnant and even the colour of the walls had a tendency to make her cry if the time of day was just right ... but we'll leave that idea alone.

She'd picked up some pastries (because she'd been burning all of the ones she tried to cook lately due to an inability to get the door of the oven open on time with her large belly) and then headed over to Amery's office, walking down the familiar corridors.

She peeked her head in, wondering if Amery had gotten a replacement secretary just yet.

"...hellooooooo?"

The last four weeks had been dull to watch unfold, to say the least. Venice's passing, though difficult, was simply too inconveniently timed to allow for any real means of mourning (and, being that they had entered no real, socially recognized type of relationship, his mourning period was very short, if not altogether optional). The circumstances of her death were incredibly unfortunate, of course, and Amery deeply regretted his hand contributed to her death, but what was there to do?

Well, he'll tell you. Plenty of paperwork, that's what there was to do. Had he yet come to understand what it was his job entailed? Not specifically, but he did find, much to his chagrin, that the resulting damage from the Dark Lord's foray into natural disasters (how ironic sounding!) meant that Amery's department had many, many stacks of paperwork, reporting on all aspects of the disaster, to fill out. Replacing his secretary, though vitally important, was still possibly the last thing on his mind, as the only thing he could allow himself to focus on was that his underlings were properly whipped into shape and no one started dogging him about keeping his office in check. Not that anyone really ever dogged him about anything, per se, but there was no reason for them to start now.

A most unexpected voice trilled at him from the door, and he glanced up in surprise, seeing the swell of her stomach before her face. "Rosemarne," he called idly, eyebrows raised but nothing in his tone or words to suggest anything unpleasant. "To what do I owe this surprising pleasure?"

Oh, he didn't at all look like he was in the sort of mood to talk, but he never really was. She managed a bright smile toward Amery, shifting the box of cookies from side to side and trying to avoid keeping it from sitting on her stomach.

"Well, I was just in the area!" Which wasn't necessarily untrue -- she had been in the area because she'd gone out of her way to get into the area. Still. She smoothed her hand through her hair and then pursed her lips, "But if you're too busy, I could..." She really didn't want to go, because he'd just lost his secretary and how could someone really be okay with that? She was still having a lot of problems with Berk's death, and even though he was her brother-in-law ... it wasn't that different, was it?
