After many, many things had been taken dealt with, and after Kristoff had finally gotten some sleep, he eventually made his way to quietly and politely knock on Andrea's door.

It was about time for some routine diagnostics and maintenance, on the level with which his assistance was generally helpful. After everything that had happened, making sure she was all right was all the more important.

To say that Andrea was an unhappy android would be putting it mildly. But she had thus far judged her actions to be the correct one given the situation. At least... she was reasonably certain that they were.

She ached in a way she did not understand. But she would overcome this. She knew she would.

Kristoff's knock interrupted her thoughts and she went to the door. "Hello, Kristoff," she said, once she opened it.

"Hello, Andrea. If it is not too much of an intrusion, I think we should run a few of the usual tests and maintenance routines? If you would prefer this be postponed, that is understandable."

She shook her head. "No, that would be fine," Andrea said. They had been busy enough that there had not been time for one since her return to her android state and while everything seemed to be in order...

"I believe I am past due for a check-up at any rate."

"Indeed," he says with a nod, and they will walk briefly down the hallway. No one else is about at the moment. Once in his lab, he has a chair ready for her, and when she sits, will wait for her to sweep her hair away from the back of her neck before proceeding with the connection. It always feels more polite to wait for her to do it herself.

Andrea took her seat and pulled back her hair, exposing the connector port located at the base of her neck, a small circle of shining metal in an otherwise perfect exterior reproduction of the human form.

"And how are you today?" she asked, making small talk as she often did during these sessions.

"Well enough, thank you, in that I have finally rested. Admittedly a much healthier recourse than the alternative." He makes the appropriate connections and starts running the initial thorough diagnostics. "And you?" He adds, trying to remain cordial but unable to keep a slight element of concern in his voice.

"I am..." she paused for a moment, referencing her internal databanks to select the correct word, "conflicted."

"I feel very sorry for Vincent and the pain he has endured... But I do not believe I can forgive his actions easily. Both thought patterns are equally valid and I cannot seem to decide which is correct."

"It is a difficult situation, yes. Your own pain is certainly just as valid as Vincent's, and it is not something you brought on yourself." His tone is quiet and very much along the lines 'of course you know'.

Andrea knows this well, though the parts of her programming dedicated to emotional and illogical responses did sometimes try to tell her otherwise.

"I just..." she hesitated, as she often did when trying to wrap her thoughts around Vincent. "I cannot understand how he would chose them over us."

"Nor, in truth, can I," he admits as he works out a few calibration.
"But he has never been one to think things through. He is used to everything's coming easy. I bear some responsibility for that, I am afraid." He wonders if he will fail Scotty and the baby the same way. No, not with Cassandra around from the beginning.

"As I understand it," Andrea replied, "to have heard Mr. Grimm and Doctor Richards speak of it, you did a remarkable job raising him."

She went on, "I had thought I understood him well, but I cannot believe he did not expect the reactions he recieved."

"Their assessment is flattering." Although Kristoff refrains from comment as to Grimm's expertise in the firm upbringing of a boy.

"He has a gift for self-justification," he admits quietly. And then, looking over the newly-available data, he pauses.

"There is something different in the cortex circuitry. Nothing serious, but..." He recalibrates a few things for further examination.

As he is her sometimes mentor, Andrea would come to Mr. Grimm's defense if she knew what Kristoff was thinking.

"Different in what way?" she asked, concerned.

And Kristoff would have probably made concessions. But he gave up voicing his every sardonic opinion when he was a teenager.

He studies the further data. "The variation is minor but it might trigger....have you experienced any anomalous cognitive functions during your rest cycles?"

Andrea nodded slightly, so as not to break the connection. "I have. Not always, but in several of my last rest cycles, since the restoration of my android-form."

"It is quite intriguing, really. Essentially, this variation will trigger the capacity to dream."

"We were fortunate the fissure in reality closed as seamlessly as it did. A few lasting alterations are far from impossible."

"Of course," Andrea replied. That had been a frightening time. Her learning curve had been a sharp one, but she had never felt more vulnerable, more disconnected from who she was.

"Given the nature of my neural net, it is possible that the rift simply accelerated something which would have developed on its own."

"Quite possible."

He goes over the other usual checks, asks her to move her arms slightly to check joint alignments. "Everything else seems to be in order."

"That confirms my own diagnostic," she replied. "All systems, weaponry, and equipment seem to be functioning at full capacity."

"Thank-you, Kristoff, for your supportive words before."

He nods at the confirmation as he handles the disconnections.

"You are welcome, of course. If you need anything I can provide, please let me know." Pause. "If it feels appropriate to go out and get some air, or spend time with your father or other friends, please let me know. I must admit I believe it will be some time before I will be comfortable not knowing where everyone is."

"I will, thank-you," Andrea told him. She fixed her hair slightly before she stood.

"Mr. Lumpkin has invited me out to lunch today. I may take him up on it, but if I decide to, I will be sure to tell you."
