Ingrid!
The yarn tied to the end of her four-poster was pulling taut as Eliza braided the three strands. Her feet were pressed strongly against the end board as she pulled the yarn as far as she could, looking far too concentrated than when she was usually making or creating something. Usually it just came, or...or flowed, yes, that was the word, but lately---lately she'd actually been having to try to draw, or paint, or write, or sew, and Eliza wasn't liking it.

It may have had to do with her growing suspicions about her boyfriend. Except Eliza wouldn't exactly cause them suspicions, because that would mean Dedalus was doing something bad or...or doing something she didn't approve of, because he wouldn't. So...so she was concerned about his odd behavior, and had been for quite some time, and maybe it was starting to affect her in different ways.

"Dang it," she muttered; she'd messed up the twist and began to unravel the yarn as the door of the dormitory opened. Eliza smiled lightly at Ingrid as she continued untangling the mess she'd made.

Ingrid, quite the opposite of Eliza's discontented mood, had been just about walking on air since she had returned from break. But then again, who wouldn't be walking on air when they'd gone out on a very crazy limb, kissed Christian Entwhistle, and had him kiss back? Oh, and don't forget the massive flirting afterwards. The way Ingrid had been acting, she might as well have still been in that little café by Hyde Park---might be, with the way she had been replaying the scene over and over in her head since then.

But it was a good thing that her mind was still back there, she had decided. Because Ingrid knew that the second she realized that she was really at Hogwarts and wasn't going to see Christian again until Easter holidays, she was going to die.

Or something dramatic and horrible like that.

For now, however, she was still in a happy fog, hence the skip in her step as she walked over to flop down on her roommate's bed. "Whatcha up to!" she asked, glancing at the yarn mess and tilting her head to try and discern what it was.

"I," Eliza said as she took an end of the yarn between her teeth to pull it straight while she twisted the other two, "am attempting this---rather simply braid, and---it is---driving---" Eliza made a 'ptt' noise and dropped the yarn, letting the other two fall along with it, "me insane. I think maybe I should stick to the hard stuff, my brain can't lower itself back down to this basic level."

She smiled, though, pulling her legs beneath her. Eliza had definitely noticed Ingrid's happy-go-lucky mood, it would have been infectious if she didn't have her own worries, and leaned forward looking slightly suspicious, but playful.

"And whatcha up to, Miss. Catchlove?" Eliza batted her eyes for affect, because with the kind of attitude Ingrid had been displaying, it was definitely about a boy, and that was definitely the eyelash batting worthy kind of story she needed to hear.

Ingrid laughed, but blushed at the knowing way Eliza asked. The Gryffindor buried her head down into her chest to hide the reddening at her ears, but eventually found it too much to take. She returned her gave to Eliza with a brilliant grin, which spoke volumes to her mood--that was, if it weren't completely, blatantly obvious already.

"Thinkin' 'bout someone," she asnwered in the same playful tone. "Someone super handsome and funny. And kind and loving and perfect and a lot of superlatives all rolled up into one." Ingrid paused for a second, a glint in her eyes and a smirk pulling up on her lips. "Someone who I kissed."

Normally, she wasn't the type that would sit here and gossip with her roommates, but this was so completely worthy of bragging and squealing. Her mood lent itself to squealing anyway, so it wasn't like Christian had left her with the capacity to do anything else. Guh, Christian.

Christian. Christian. Even realizing how silly and clichéd it was, Ingrid couldn't help but to sigh happily--then laughed again at the knowledge of what she'd just done. Oh god, this man was going to be the end of her.

Eliza's hands flew up, fingers spread wide as her mouth dropped.

"Who! When! I mean--" Her brain racked for who on earth Ingrid could have been kissing as it seemed every bloke in the school was taken, so was it an older boy, or--ooh, she had no idea, but Eliza's shocked expression quickly switched to a bright grin and she leaned forward. Her hands found themselves clasped in her lap, and all thoughts of Dedalus sneaking around (oy---) flew out of the window and into the Great Lake.

It had been a bit since there was good boy talk in the dorms. Gillian was going crazy with the wedding, Miranda was about ready to kill Ralph for whatever he had done, and Eliza simply didn't talk about that kind of thing, so. This was quite exciting and needed.

"Well!" Ingrid started her sentence, but broke out in girlish laughter. She absolutely couldn't stop grinning, she had waited forever to tell Eliza about this, it was just--she didn't want to be all squealy if Eliza wasn't in a good mood, but there was no way she could hold this in anymore if she didn't want to explode and ugh here she went! "His name is Christian Entwhistle andhe'scompletelyamazingevenifhe'slikefiveyearsolderthanmeand!"

She stopped to take a deep breath, then, realizing Eliza had probably not understood any of that last sentence, she started again. "Okay, um. You know him, or well, I've talked about him before. Just a little bit, but he's the adorable guy I met back in Hogsmeade that drew the picture of me that I couldn't stop talking about. Remember?" Ingrid waited a whole split second for her friend to reply before she went back on her spiel. "Well anyway, we saw each other over break and we went to the park and were playing in the snow and being silly and I don't know what I was doing, but I just kissed him and then he kissed back and then we went for cocoa and he said it was a date and he called me pretty and! And oh my god, my dad is going to kill me when he finds out, 'cause he's like, a lot older and I don't even care because he's perfect!"

She only stopped because all the contents of her lungs were actually expended by this point, but it looked as if Ingrid could have gone on for another four hours. Instead, she settled for a huge grin and waited for Eliza's reaction as she regained her breath.

The name immediately clicked in Eliza's head; yes she did remember the picture because she'd wondered what kind of materials he'd used and--

"Ingrid," she said with a short gasp, "Five years? That's--that's a lot, oh my gosh---" Five years...that meant they were in second year when he was in seventh. Eliza wouldn't voice this as clearly when you get older the difference in age don't mean as much and she didn't want things to sound weird, but it was the first thing that popped into her head and oh my gosh. "Oh, oh, that's terribly cute, Ingrid, in the snow? Ohhh, first kiss in the snow!"

Eliza put her hands to her cheeks and smiled excitedly; that was a good story to tell and have!

"Is he your boyfriend!"

"I know, I know!" she exclaimed quickly. The truth was that it was almost a six-year age difference, but Ingrid figured Eliza didn't need to be shocked even further by a technicality. "And that's why I never thought we'd--but well! I don't know, I just like him so much, I just had to try! And if the difference doesn't bother him, then well, it doesn't bother me either!" Not that the story would be the same for her parents, but anyone who imagined she'd tell them before she turned at least 18 was crazy.

Sighing, she ran a hand back through her hair and smiled quietly. Oh, she was blushing again, gosh. "I don't know. I--I guess he is! I... yes. Yes, he's my boyfriend." Merlin's beard did that sound good to say. Suddenly, as if just realizing what she'd said, Ingrid's eyes widened. "Oh my god. He's my boyfriend."

Eliza couldn't help the shrill giggle of excitement that escaped her and she put her hands out to shake Ingrid's shoulders in a playful manner. Oh, that was terribly romantic! Romantic rendezvous in the snow, first kisses that were surprising and led to cocoa--that was just what Eliza needed to help her mood, and she flopped back into her pillows, smiling a bit dreamily back at her friend.

"Ingrid's got a boyyyyyyyyfriend," Eliza teased, squirming and pulling her knees to her chest. "Oy, they must bring Hogsmeade weekends back now, or--or something." Her eyes flew to the canopy as if thinking out a hard arthimancy problem and then shot down back to Ingrid.

"We've got at least five seventh years with older boyfriends, it's just not fair," she said with a grin.

Ingrid looked around cautiously for a moment, making quite certain that no one was around. When she was satisfied, she turned back to Eliza with a wicked grin, took a deep breath, and squealed at the top of her lungs, allowing herself to flail a little. Of course, she probably would have done it even if one of the other girls was around, but well, it was only common courtesy to at least act like you cared if you disturbed someone else's catnap.

"I know I know I know I know I knoooow!" she exclaimed, a brilliant grin on her face when she finally brought her hands down. "And well! Well, that's because we know that the older boyfriends are better," she told Eliza with a wink. "If you didn't have Dedalus, I think I'd have to ask Christian if he has any friends that are even half as cute as he is."

Eliza rolled her eyes, but shrugged anyway; the older boy thing always was rather intriguing. She'd had a monster crush on Frank Longbottom and Remus Lupin for most of her Hogwarts years, so she wasn't new to the topic, but it definitely wasn't the same as actually dating an older man. And, technically, she was older than Dedalus by less than a week, so she really had no idea how it was.

"Yes, well, my boyfriend pulls disappearing acts, so I'm not quite sure you should stop that search just---oh, that's horrible," Eliza shook her head and put a hand to her face with a frown. "I don't know what I'm thinking."

Ingrid arched an eyebrow at Eliza, attention caught. She fell forward onto her stomach on the bed, propping her elbows up on a pillow and her chin up on her hands as she regarded her friend. "Eliza Alderton, do I sense a bit of annoyance with our dear Dedalus seeping through in that sentence?"

It was said jokingly, but not really. There was concern there, because even though she realized that it had been a horrible thing to say, you didn't just say stuff like that, and if she was saying stuff like that, that meant that it'd crossed her mind before, which meant something was wrong. Ingrid had a feeling that she was about to get to the bottom of the reason that Eliza hadn't been in a very fabulous mood lately. "What's going on?"

She couldn't help but squirm; Eliza never dished the gossip, especially when it was about her own personal life, but it had been driving her up the wall. She sat up a bit and once again found herself sitting cross legged in front of Ingrid.

"He---well. I know he's busy and all, but sometimes it's like...like he's taking all these classes, and I dunno how he manages to do it, so he's always going off and sometimes at night, he like..." Eliza blushed deeply, looking away for a moment and figuring out how she wanted to put this, "Some days he comes up with...well. I mean, they could be true, and it's---he's been 'sick' four times this year since November, but...only on Saturdays? Meaning...I don't go to the dorm that day?"

Eliza shook her head, letting out a breath, "I dunno, maybe I'm overreacting."

Ingrid frowned, her features twisting into a concerned yet thoughtful expression, and she bit her bottom lip. This was tricky, because Dedalus sounded suspicious and for Eliza's sake, Ingrid wanted to tell her to be suspicious, be careful, because what if there really was something going on? But then again, she didn't want to say something that was going to help fire the suspicions she had already and would possibly cause her to act irrationally, therefore potentially ruining a relationship something wasn't even going wrong with in the first place!

Sigh. Friend politics were so complicated.

"Maybe you are," she decided on finally, tilting her head to regard Eliza. "And I guess if you're really concerned, you can talk to him calmly about it. I mean, Dedalus is a smart bloke, he should understand why you would be a little suspicious--but then again, you don't want to be overly suspicious because he could take that as an insult and--oh bloody hell, I'm sorry, I'm bollocks at this."
