          Who: Stubby and Franzy
What: Date!
Where: Read!
Why: Cause they are soo cute.
When: 8-15-78

Franzy waited patiently at a table outside a small café. Since she had never heard of the place Stubby said he was taking her, and she was already out for the day, they had agreed to meet up. It solved so many problems because her mother wouldn’t stop asking questions about him ever since he dropped her of the other night. But it probably didn’t help much that she had just asked to go to the Caribbean with him. Her mother said no out right but with a bit of persuasion and pleading, Franzy got her to cave in.

She sipped her tea as she glanced around watching the people pass looking for any sign of her date. (her date, tee how neat was that.) She probably looked a bit silly grinning like she was sitting all alone, but she really didn’t care.

Stubby approached the cafe casually, hands pushed into the pockets of his faded jeans, shoulders lolling slightly in a relaxed posture beneath the fabric of his teeshirt. It didn't take long for him to spot her, of course; he weaved his way towards the table carefully, making sure to avoid eye contact with anyone for too long . He had forgotten the hexed sunglasses he always wore when out on his own, and so the only thing keeping him from being recognized was his ensemble and the side swept, undone style of his hair. Coming up to stand beside her, he grinned down at her before taking the seat opposite her own. He didn't give her a kiss or anything like that, but in such a public place that was to be expected. At least.... he hoped she knew that. "Hey gorgeous."

Franzy grinned as he sat down. He really did have great timing because she was just taking the last sip of her tea. “Hey babe.” She propped her chin in her hand and looked over at him with a smile. Probably the only downside to this whole thing was that she wasn’t able to greet him with a kiss or anything when they meet up in public. It was for the best though; she didn’t want to start a media frenzy. “So where is this place we’re going again?”

He glanced casually around, flicking idle digits through his hair so that he could regard her with both aquamarine orbs. "It's a muggle establishment," he confessed, though his eyes were alight with excitement at the mere thought of it. Not that muggles thrilled him all that much.... no, merely the prospect of going out in public without being recognized and mobbed was delightful! And, of course, there were the brilliant muggle inventions (two in particular had caught his attention; one called the Karaoke Machine, the other Fondue) that had intrigued and mystified him to no end the last time he'd made one such escape on his own. Grinning mischievously, he leaned towards her across the table, tempted to kiss her but wisely resisting. "If you thought the swings were wicked, just wait."

Franzy quirked a brow once he mentioned it was a muggle place. No wonder she had never heard of it. She was a bit weary about going, a playground with no one there was one thing, but a place filled with them, what would her mother say. But any worry she had quickly dissipated when Stubby leaned across the table. It made sense once she thought about it. No one would recognize him there and its not like they could very well go out to a wizarding pub. “Well, you have successfully caught my interest. Care to lead the way? We probably shouldn’t hang around here to much longer, you might get caught.”

At her suggestion he nodded and rose once again from his chair. No rest for the famous. He didn't even dare to extend a hand to help her up as he normally would have; these sort of restrictions were cause for internal debates and constant reminders to himself. But he couldn't risk it. It wouldn't be fair to either of them, especially not Franzy. Nodding with his head, he jammed his hands back in his pockets, kept his head low and proceeded to wind his way through the maze of chairs towards the street. Once there, he hastily made his way towards the nearest alley way, extending an arm to her once they were safely out of eyesight and he was certain no one was around. It was there that he finally kissed her, fully and deeply, before finally drawing back and apparating them to a busy tourist center in Muggle London.

If anything was going to drive Franzy insane it was going to be the having to sneak into dark alleyways to kiss. But it was so worth it. She half wished it all come out in the open just so they didn’t have to sneak around, but she instantly regretted the thought knowing that it would probably come back to bite her in the arse. Once they arrived she gripped his hand a bit tighter than before because there were just so many people bustling about and merlin, she didn’t even think she’d ever see Diagon Alley as busy as this. She quickly looked down at her clothes hoping that she didn’t stand out too much. “Well this is certainly different.” She said looking around.

The hustle and bustle of the London streets seemed to spark something in Stubby's typically laid-back behavior. He saw her take a quick glance down at her ensemble and wrapped and assuring arm around her waist (Because no wizard reporter that he knew of would catch them here!). "Don't worry," he murmured, leaning in so that the warmth of his breath collided with her ear lobe, an excited grin warping his face. "You look great." The wizarding garb they were both wearing, while not going completely unnoticed, didn't seem to be causing much of a commotion. This was of course because most of the people surrounding them were well on their way to being magnificently drunk; the time for partying was upon them as the sun went down. Keeping a hand protectively on her hip, he guided her through the crowds towards a small little joint, the inside of which was noisy and boisterous, even over the din from outside. A slightly warbled version of an Elton John song carried on the night air, and Stubby was quick to lead the way inside. He easily got the two of them a table over by the stage; it was by no means a fancy establishment, but they were known for their karaoke nights and Fondue pots. "SO?" he cried over the din, wide smile still intact. "What do you think?!"

“He can’t sing all that well.” It was the first thought that had came to mind and the first thing she said. She really hoped that this was the extent of muggle music. But then the song had ended and couple that she had seen sitting not too far from them before got up on the stage. That’s when she realized that it was the bar patrons that were getting up there and singing. “Oh…” was all she could say her one hand covering her mouth hiding her very small grin and hopefully her nervousness as well. This is what she got for laughing at him about that stupid kid show he was on. “I hope you don’t expect me to get up there and sing… I have a terrible case of stage fright and you being an accomplished singer, and my date won’t help much.” she said with small laugh. “But it will be amusing to watch everyone else have a go.” She grinned and placed a kiss on his cheek.

He laughed and had to nod his agreement with her first statement. But that was the joy of these karaoke bars.... most of the singers couldn't sing, but it was the pure enthusiasm of their efforts that made it worth watching! He shook his head at her and leaned across the table, taking one of her hands in his, lacing his long fingers in hers and smirking at her playfully. "Oh no. I told you I wanted to hear you sing! It's alright, we'll get you quite bombed beforehand if that's what it takes. Maybe I'll even sing with you!" He nodded to a waitress and set an order for chocolate fondue and wine.

“Well me singing for you and me singing in front of a whole crowd of people are two completely different things.” She said. “Besides, I’ve probably never even heard any of these songs, how am I suppose to sing them, hmm?” Her glass of wine hadn’t even been sitting on the table for a full five seconds before she grabbed it up and took a sip. She really ought to be mad at him for even thinking that he could get her on the stage to sing, but there was just something about him that made that impossible. “Getting a girl sloshed to get her to bend to you’re ways? What ever will your fans think if this gets out.” She smirked over at him, knowing full and well that by the end of the night she would be, if not wasted, very tipsy and singing. “And if, big if there, I do get on that stage, you’re going to be up there with me. No way I’m going alone.”

He pointed wordlessly to the screen that was now scrolling the words of the next song. "You don't have to know the words!" He watched her as she quickly downed some of her wine, sinking his teeth into his bottom lip to stifle a grin as her accusation caused a flush of color to creep into his cheeks. He knew she was joking, of course, it just... well. Clearing his throat, he drank deeply from his own glass and winked at her. "I'll go up there with you, babe. Don't worry." He released her hand with one final squeeze and reached for the fondue sticks. "Here. You gotta try this, Franz. It's the best."

Franzy grinned as he blushed. Served him right, although, she defiantly had to find a way to make him blush more often because he was just oh so cute when he did. Franzy reached and stole the fondue stick out of his hand after he had dipped it into the chocolate. Her smirk turned into a grin after she took a bite. “Oh my this is delicious!” she said grabbing another of her own.

After she had finished her glass of wine she had ordered herself a Cosmo, knowing full and well it didn’t take much for her to get drunk and once she finished her second drink she would be on the tipsy side. She leaned her head on his shoulder and sipped her drink. “So, you’ve been here before, what are the good songs to sing?”

He had a bit of a higher tolerance than she did, clearly, but by the second drink he was working his way up to a satisfying buzz and was loving the fact that her head was on his shoulder. He craned his neck to press a kiss to her forehead and smirked. Wrapping an arm around her, he gestured to the waiter to bring them more fruit for the fondue, murmuring something into his ear before he wandered away to fetch them. "Don't worry, I got this taken care of. Me and you are gonna rock this place," he laughed, reaching for a bit of pineapple and popping it into his mouth sans chocolate. "You want another drink before we have to go up, baby?"

“If you say so.” Franzy said finishing off her drink. “Mmm I don’t think so. I don’t want to be obviously sloshed while I’m up there. I’ve had… Just enough not to care about everyone else.” She smiled as she reached for a strawberry and dipped into the chocolate. “Although, it would be greatly appreciated if there was waiting for me after we are done… I suppose we should get this over with then… since it seems as though you have something set up already. Lead the way”

He grinned, gulping as she indulged in the strawberry... why the hell did girls always manage to look so provocative when they ate those things!? Shaking his head to rid them of those thoughts, he scooted out of the chair and reached for her hand, helping her to her feet just as the announcer blasted the spotlight at them. Ah, here they are! Our next contenders in tonight's karaoke contest! C'mon folks, give 'em a big hand! The muggles all burst into thunderous applause as they climbed into the small stage that had been erected in the center of the room, Stubby leading Franzy by the hand, giving her an encouraging smile as he approached his microphone. "Don't be nervous," he whispered, and was tempted to kiss her when the music started. He couldn't help but blink at her as her vocals carried through the restaurant.... untrained, but she definitely had raw talent. It wasn't long before they had the entire crowd clapping and dancing.

Oh it was a contest… as if that was going to help her be any less nervous. It took her a moment to shake of her nervousness but she decided that it would be best if she just focused on Stubby. And once she did, she really started to enjoy herself. That is until the music stopped and the noise of the crowd reached her ears. She flushed a bright red as they were cheering and such. She turned and looked at him out of the corner of her eye before stepping down off the stage and headed for their table, knowing he wouldn’t be far behind. It was definitely time for that third drink. She grabbed the drink she ordered just before they went on stage and took a long sip. “You didn’t tell me it was a contest.” She said still self conscious about her singing even though the crowd obviously liked it.

He stared at her, wide-eyed as they left the stage, sliding into the seat next to her as she nursed her drink and scolded him. He couldn't help it, he leaned in and kissed her, right at the corner of her mouth the minute her glass was lowered. "You didn't tell me you were so good!" He slid his arm possessively around her waist, bowing his head so that his lips rested against the curve of her ear. "Baby, you were amazing," he mumbled genuinely. He looked up just as the announcer came back to the stage, calming the crowd with a wave of his hand. Stubby reached for his own glass and took a long sip; it felt good performing without having to sign autographs afterwards!! Ladies and gents, I believe we've found ourselves a winner for the evening! Numerous muggles began to whistle and holler as the host scanned the audience and the spotlights went crazy. Can we get that lovely couple back on stage?! C'mon folks. give 'em a hand! The spotlight finally landed on their table, causing Stubby, to grunt and bring his arm up to block the glare of it from his eyes. Didn’t stop the huge smile from playing across his lips though.

She blushed as he complimented her. It was practically impossible to be annoyed with him. And that in it’s self was annoying. She gave in as he kissed her and she was about to turn and return the kiss when the spotlight landed on them. She squinted as she looked up at the announcer. Up on stage again? Really, once was enough for the night. Small steps. Franzy waved her hand giving the man a grin, hopefully signaling that they were just fine where they were. Unfortunately he wasn’t giving up. She downed the rest of her drink and turned to Stubby. “You so owe me for this.” She tried to maintain a stern look but fail miserably. “Come one let’s go so we can get this damn spotlight off us.”

He chuckled and followed her back up on stage, hands casually stuffed into his pockets. He stood behind Franzy, rocking from heel to toe as the host pulled two other contestants from the audience. Before long they were lined up like circus freaks, Stubby accepting his role in the spotlight with practiced ease. Alright folks. By sound of applause... let's get ourselves a winner! It was little to no contest, really. Stubby and Franzy were the last to be judged, and the applause damn near rattled the walls with its intensity. They were awarded free drinks for the rest of the night (something he doubted Franzy needed, judging by the glow in her cheeks) and a fifty dollar gift certificate to a muggle store he'd never even heard of. As they exited the stage he handed the small slip of paper to the disappointed-looking girl who'd been their runner up and winked. Settling back down beside Franz, he took her back into his arms. "I told you! Oh c'mon, you can't be mad at me."

“You know, I’m trying to sulk here and you are making it very difficult!” she said sinking into his embrace trying her best to hide her smile. After a bit she finally gave up and shifted in his arms so she could look up at him. “Okay, I’ll admit it was a little fun. But that still doesn’t change the fact that I don’t like singing in front of crowds.” She leaned up and kissed his jaw line, meaning to kiss his cheek but the drinks were starting to take their toll. “But next time, no contest… and why were you standing behind me on stage… I should have been the one standing behind you.”

"Because you deserved to be in the spotlight," was his sweet response, grinning as she missed his lips... but he wasn't exactly complaining either way. Shifting a bit, he brushed some hair from her face and beamed down at her, his own reflexes slightly inhibited by the alcohol. There were an awful lot of glasses on their table... when did that happen?! But again. He wasn't complaining. "Alright, I won't trick you again. I'm sorry, love. But either way... I'm glad you had a good time." He tilted his head and kissed her. HE didn't miss, however. He groaned a bit when he discovered that she tasted like strawberries and liquor.

“Uh huh… and you better not, cause I’d hate to have to be mad at you... For real. Although I highly doubt that is possible” She added as an after thought when he kissed her. She grinned and wrapped her arms around his neck and returned his kiss. She giggled slightly when they broke a part a few minutes later. “Mmm I don’t know if we should be snogging in the middle of this place… people are starting to stare.” She whispered the last part, biting her bottom lip as she looked around.
