He kissed me.

He kissed me, and I think I actually kissed him back.

I can't even talk to Carys or Giada about it either, because then they'll just overreact, and-- Well, it wasn't like it meant anything. I would have to be an idiot if I thought it meant something.

Right?

He's already made a fool out of me once before, I refuse to let it happen again. I'm tired of feeling like an idiot.

What do you think would have happened if Prince Charming had stepped on Cinderella's toes while they were dancing? I mean, her shoes were made of glass, so I can't imagine they would have had a happily ever after if the prince had two left feet.

These are the kind of things that come up in conversation when I see Sam.

Well I suppose that would be the price for wearing glass shoes. Can't put all the blame on the prince's two left feet when Cinderella is making questionable fashion choices.

Well to be fair, her Fairy God Mother was the sadist who put the poor girl in such fragile shoes. She originally had a very practical dress with sensible heels that were crafted by her rodent friends, but her family was psychotic.

This sounds like a complicated story.

People tend to simplify things so they can appreciate the happily ever after. But things are never that simple, are they?

Well, some of the best things tend to have complicated beginnings. Not living if everything is just simple.

Complications certainly do keep things from being dull, I'll give you that much.

In the original version of the stories, the step sisters who tormented Cinderella got their eyes plucked out by birds on her wedding day.

Gruesome. Aren't these stories suppose to be meant for children?

So are we pretending th----

The story has been modified over time, but the original version is quite morbid, yes.

Sometimes even the best stories don't end the way we expect them to.

Are we going to keep talking fairy tales? Or can we talk about the fact that I kissed you and I'm still not sorry?

There is lots that could be said, being as so far nothing has been said at all.

Fine. So let's talk.

But not here. Not like this, when we can easily scratch out all the things we want to say but can't. If we're going to talk about this, we're going to do it in person.

Just let me know when you won't have practice. Your schedule is far less predictable than mine is.

There's a little cafe near the studio where we can grab a cup of coffee. They serve cocoa, if you'd like to bring Leanne along. You know I never mind seeing her.
